ok, yes. gōnghé, which is…an abbreviation for “industrial cooperative”? Like it was just a term for a worker-run organization? A specific U.S. marine stationed in China interpreted it as a motivational slogan about teamwork, and as a commander he got his whole battalion using it, and other U.S. marines found those guys so exhausting that it migrated into English slang with the meaning “overly enthusiastic”.

That’s…wild. What was I talking about?

OKAY LISTEN I was gonna keep this commission I got a secret until I had a full set but oh my god 👀👀👀 (yeehaw lore below the cut)

Okay so this started with Shevy's Instagram livestream the night before the Dallas Ritual (September 18). I'm hanging out in Discord with some friends and we're chatting and watching her livestream, low-key hijacking it with inside jokes (Vessel's brown belt, II drinking soda through his mask, Cheeky Nandos, etc).

This was the first mention I could find, edited out user names since they have band members' names, and profile pics for both of the users' privacy. Anyway! It escalated from there to full-on manifestation and myself commissioning the artist (pink user above) to make art of III in a pink cowboy hat. After yeehaw IV was manifested instead, I gave her half the money for a second yeehaw commission and now we have tentative plans for a full yeehaw token. I wanted to wait to post this until I had at least III and IV but Sleep Token had other plans I guess 🤷‍♀️

One thing I love about dungeon meshi is that in one of the first chapters, Marcille has a flashback of Falin saying that Laois does a VERY good dog impression. This fact not only is proven right several times throughout the manga, but Laois wins against the Big Bad ™ with a quintessential dog behavior. Like literally the move that wins the fight is a behavior every dog owner knows intimately.

It's so excellent that this vaguely insulting fact about Laois that is said so off-handedly is such a pivotal aspect to the story. You'd never Look at that fact and go, "I bet this is a REALLY important aspect to his character that will be the deciding factor in a battle". If anything, because Falin is protrayed a bit of a space case at that point you'd just assume Laois did a passable dog impression that Falin was impressed by regardless.

Now THAT'S good character writing.
