Chapter Twenty Four: The Wrestler

I had honestly forgotten about the Wrestling plot line Riverdale had. I think I blacked it out due to trauma.

We start the episode with *SHOCK* another embellished sweater! This one is black with a contrast colour collar, and, fun fact, the collar part is also worn by Betty AND Cheryl at one time or another through out the series. Honestly, I’d love to go to the wardrobe warehouse for this show. I wonder if they have an aisle SPECIFICALLY for all the embellished sweaters worn through out the series cause there’s a lot! Tear drop pearl necklace is back. She’s has not been replaced and is safe for another episode.

Now, there’s a lot going for this outfit, so let’s take it piece by piece. The polo. I mean, this is a full on polo shirt, not the fun zip up ones she’s worn before, this is a button to the top, contrast collar and sleeve, polo top. I weirdly love it? I mean, it reminds me of the much less fashionable versions I used to wear in primary school… but I still love it. Especially paired with this skirt. THIS SKIRT. Where can I start on this skirt. I’m obsessed with it. The embroidered floral pattern. The matching colours in the polo and the floral pattern. The FIT!  It fits her like a glove. It showcases everything it’s supposed to. How does Veronica Lodge wear a full button polo shirt and skirt and make it look this sexy? I’ll never know.

This dress has always been interesting to me. It’s 100% a Ronnie dress, no doubt about it, there’s just a lot going on with it. First, there’s the deep v, which is such a contrast to her last outfit of nigh neck button polo I’m actually getting whip lash. I feel like there’s something to take here. Her last outfit was school Veronica, just like last episode, she’s playing the part of the school girl who knows nothing about her parents dealing. She covers herself up more to show her innocence to those around her. This outfit though is worn predominantly at home around her parents, and around Archie, who is soon to be let in on her parents innermost dealings. This is the dress of a Mafia Princess TM who has her fingers in all the pies and is enjoying every moment of it. The cut out back also eludes to this point, all the more to show when you’re the one in charge. The bow belt is the perfect accessory for this. It’s VERY classic Ronnie, she’s worn this belt many times before, it ties the outfit together, bringing both school girl Ronnie and Mafia Princess TM Ronnie into the same outfit.

And here we are, back with school girl Ronnie, in a white sweater none the less! Featuring a contrasting trim and tie neck detail, this sweater is the picture of school girl innocence, as are the pearl embellished pumps we last saw in the last episode. The skirt is an interesting factor for me. Veronica has been playing more with patterns in her skirts this season (see 208 and 207) and this embellished paisley print one is no exception. It’s so… colourful! I honestly don’t think we’ve seen anything like this on Veronica before, nor, from memory, do we really see anything like it since. It’s such an out of the box choice, but I truly do love it, even though there is SO much going on with it I don’t quite know where to look!

Just. Enjoy this screen cap. I found it like this, I swear.

SLEEP WEAR! This is new. Navy satin with a green/blue lace trim is just my cup of tea when it comes to sleep wear. I would assume it would be worn with a matching pair of satin shorts (Veronica hasn’t really been the long pants type so far) but unfortunately this is the only look we get of this particular sleep set.

Check out that plunge neck! Again! Our girl is here to cheer on her boyfriend and what better way than to encourage him that to look her absolute best? This dress was originally sold with an almost crew neck neckline. The plunge neckline was a very considered choice by the costume department as they would have had to alter the neckline significantly to make it that deep. Like I said, our girl is out to encourage her boyfriend. The thing I love about this dress that is very hard to see in the episode, is the double scallop detail on the waist, which is covered by her pearl bow belt in this scene. Truly devastated that this detail never made it on the screen, it makes the dress even more Veronica.

Offt. I say that, because THIS IS A LOOK! Can you hear me screaming ‘over the knee boots’ from where you are? I mean. The blazer. The mini skirt. The bow leopard print mock neck sweater. THE BOOTS. I must say, this is so much more visually appealing to me than the last time our girl performed as a pussy cat. What can I say? I’m just not into tails… ANYWAY. I fully love and support this outfit. The oversized blazer is fitted to her perfectly, it’s a tailored oversized blazer, and I would expect nothing less from our Ronnie. There are so many textures going on in this outfit, from the velvet of her boots to the leopard print shirt. I truly never though one could look sophisticated wearing leopard print pearl embellished pussy cat ears… but I guess I’m happy to be proven wrong.

Chapter Twenty Three: The Blackboard Jungle

We’re all in isolation, I thought I could do my part in providing you guys something interesting to read for the time being, so I guess were back!

We start with our girl wearing such a classic Veronica colour, I remember screeching when I first saw it. I love this sweater, the deep burgundy colour is so perfect in contrast to Veronica’s dark hair, and the massive shoulder bow brings a bit of fun to an outfit that is SORELY underrated and unseen. We’ve seen this pearl necklace before, it originally appeared in 205 and has made minor appearances ever since. The glasses mean business, our girl is a Mafia Princess after all.

Now. Is there a more Veronica outfit than this one? Honestly, I think not. The embellished collar. The green plaid skirt, last seen in 205 and before that 103. The pearl embellished, ankle strap pumps. The tear drop pearl necklace. Our girl looks stunning and in charge. Her make up in stunning. Her hair is flawless. This is an all time favourite of mine. I need to move on before I actually declare my love for this sweater.

Another embellished collar! This episode is full of them and I love it! This dress brings a whole new meaning to the phrase ‘little black dress’. I love the fact that it has s structured collar, along with the pink and green floral detail. The cut of this dress is a slight departure from the normal ‘fit and flare’ nature of the majority of Veronica’s dresses, especially when you view the dress on the store model. The costume department has clearly had their way with this dress, making it more fitted, and therefore more Veronica.  It seems that almost every time Veronica is wearing a dress or sweater with a collar, she still manages to sneak in some sort of pearl necklace, and this outfit is no exception. Her classic tear drop pearl necklace once again hangs proudly around her neck, right where it belongs.

More. Embellished. Sweaters. This episode should be renamed ‘Attack of the Jewelled Sweaters’ considering both Veronica and Betty wear them heavily. I’m not complaining, I think my love of a bejewelled collar is well known by now, but three is a row is probably a slight over kill, even for our girl. This sweater is actually deceptively elaborate, with its VELVET collar (that’s right, VELVET) underneath the silver jewel embellishment. Paired with a classic black and white plaid pencil skirt (a style that is beginning to be synonymous with the Veronica Lodge wardrobe) and basic black pumps, the outfit screams innocent school girl trying to help, rather than Mafia Princess doing her Daddy’s wishes. I’ll also note her necklace here, which, unlike the last two outfits is a DIFFERENT drop pearl necklace. I know, I was shocked as well. This one is more rounded than the last one, I guess the costume department was getting bored with near identical outfits as well.

Ah ha! No embellished collar here, although we do have a pearl embellished skirt, so I guess they got their embellishment in there somewhere. This two in one sweater is very similar to the one she wore earlier in the episode, bar the embellishment. I guess with such a statement piece in the pearl mini skirt you really need something simple on top. I do wish we got more of a full body look of this outfit, rather than the half body shot we got… I can’t help wondering if the pearl embellishment went all the way around, cause hat really would not of been comfortable to sit in! Note the drop ball pearl necklace from the last outfit appears again here. Has tear drop pearl been replaced? Will I have to change my counting system? Only time will tell.

Do pearl earrings and nothing else count in an outfit count? I’m not sure.

Chapter Twenty Two: Silent Night, Deadly Night

Its Christmas in Riverdale! Grab your mug of eggnog, sit back, relax and enjoy the show.

This dress is a slight departure from the normal dresses we’ve seen our girl in. The fit and flare structure is bang on trend, however the skin baring, full button down nature of this dress is not something we’ve seen before. It’s a very different look from the embellished collared dresses we’ve been seeing her in a lot recently. Then again, it’s Christmas. When else do you have the chance to pull out your best clothes and wear them on the day to day?

We don’t see much of this number. It’s sleeveless. It appears to be purple… that’s about all I’ve got.

Now this is much more classic Ronnie! A navy blue v neck sweater dress with a pearl bow belt. Keep track of this bow, it appears later on in the series on a much more predominate outfit. I think the ¾ sleeve of this dress is perfect, and the ponte knit material is such a classic, this who outfit really sticks in my mind as an outfit to remember!

More nightwear! We’ve actually seen this purple satin pyjama set before in 207, however this is the first time that we have seen the matching gown. I’m obsessed with this whole look, not to mention the fluffy open toe slippers. I can totally imagine wearing this on Christmas morning, gathered around the tree, waiting patiently to be able to open my presents. Sure, it’s a Veronica take on what for me would be some sort of flannel combo with a big fluffy dressing gown, but this IS the Lodge house, and I truly don’t think they believe in fluffy dressing gowns on any occasion.

And here we are. My absolute favourite outfit of the episode… three guesses why. It’s true that we really don’t see what’s under the cape (What’s under the cape Veronica Lodge? I’ve been watching too much OTH in isolation), but to be honest, for once, I don’t care that outerwear is impeding my view of an outfit, because this piece of outerwear is EVERYTHING! I’m so glad we go a better look at this cape, the view we got in the last episode was just not satisfying enough. Paired with her PVC mary jane pumps and her snazzy new necklace it’s the perfect Christmas Day outfit… besides the fact that I’m fairly sure our girl would be FREEZING since it’s snowing.

I own this: Not exact, but I bought the coat version of Veronica’s cape the day I finished my final class in my teaching degree.

Chapter Twenty One: House of the Devil

My computer deleted everything I had written for this episode, so this is take two. Hopefully it’s as good as my original.

We start with the sex montage. First up this cute black sweater/burgundy skirt. While very similar to the burgundy skater skirt Ronnie wore in the last episode, this is in fact a different skirt. It’s TV land, and in TV land people own almost carbon copies of the same item. I wish I lived in TV land. Other significant piece in this item in the navy velvet coat we haven’t see since the start of this season. I miss this coat. I LOVE this coat.

More sex montage. Cute throw back to Ronnie and Archie’s first night together with her wearing what I’m 99% certain is the same shirt Archie wore to the Jubilee/Ronnie wore very shortly after that.

Can we take about her underwear for a minute? I’m so used to seeing women on TV walking around wearing their skimpiest underwear as if women do that on a daily basis. While I’m sure that may be the go to for some, I feel like, for the majority, the idea of comfy high waisted undies and a bra that actually covers our breasts is what were more inclined to wear on a  day to day. I’m actually really impressed with the Riverdale costume department for showing that comfy can 100% still be sexy.

Can we count a fur rug in an outfit analysis? How about the new pearl necklace? Not quite a pearl strand, not exactly a major statement piece either. It’s just different enough to be different, yet the same.

Ah ha! Clothes! Actual real clothes! This dress will come back multiple times over the series, so get used to seeing it. I love the brocade floral pattern, paired with the slight scalloped collar and dramatic bow. It’s such an interesting piece that, paired with the go to tear drop pearl, constitutes a perfect Ronnie outfit in my view.

The scalloped coat makes a return. There’s a lot of scalloping going on here.

Offft. I say that because I love plaid and that is the sound I made when I first saw this shirt on screen. The purple/pink colours work really well here and it’s definitely one of the brighter shirt we’ve seen our girl wearing. Paired with a simple black skirt, possibly the one she wore in 203 but don’t hold me to that, it’s an iconic Lodge investigative statement.

IT’S ANOTHER CAPE! It’s BURGUNDY! This is everything to me. Ronnie’s investigating cape has had an upgrade and it is glorious. I like the idea that, since Ronnie is taking over from Betty in investigating this case, her usual investigation cape wouldn’t work. It’s almost too iconic Veronica Lodge for her to wear in an episode where she’s supposed to be playing the role of Betty. I literally only say this because we only ever see this cape one more time over the rest of the series so far and that feel like a crime against nature if it’s not for a story telling purpose. I need to move on from this.

This ones interesting, because while it looks like it’s a shirt and a pinafore, it’s actually one whole dress which is very on brand for our girl. I think the professional nature of this outfit fits the scene, while I feel like you wouldn’t see very many high schoolers running around the halls in a crisp white shirt with a bow neck and matching bow pumps, this is very much the look for a Junior Detective which we know is the role that Veronica is trying to fulfil.

WE SEXY AND WE KNOW IT! Ronnie is bringing the sexy out tonight and I am here for it. While not very easy to see this VERY low cut crop and plaid zip front skirt is a very different look for our girl. Have we EVER seen her in a zip front skirt? That comment aside, I’m OBSESSED with this whole look. The not pearl pearls, the heeled sandals, did I mention the leather trim? It’s edgy. It’s Biker Bar chic and that’s all I’m going to say on the matter.

Chapter Twenty: Tales From the Darkside.

Our girl may have only been in this episode for a max of 15 minutes, but boy does she do a lot in that short period of time! Lets begin.

We start with this… combination. I’ll say this, I love the colour palette, the raspberry of her skirt, contrasted with the dark navy of her top really work for her and use the Ronnie colour scheme to their best. There’s just something about this look that I really can’t get around. I don’t know if it’s the overly poofy nature of her skirt, or the cutout ring pull of her top that honestly doesn’t seem like a Ronnie item to me. Either way, it’s a miss for me… Am I alone on this one?

Ah, yes, here we have another example of Ronnie in satin pyjamas, this time, this adorable purple shirt/short set. I love the way the costume department manages to bring her classy nature to all her pj’s as well. If this were me, all we would see are oversized Harry Potter t-shirts, however our girl always looks put together. Even when investigating her friends Dad.

YELLOW! We’ve got yellow again! Usually, when I’ve discussed the significance of Ronnie wearing yellow it has related to her problems with her family, here she’s dealing with conflict in Kevin’s family. Is it  bit of a stretch to think that that’s a connection here? Possibly, but I’m all about making stretches! It’s also interesting to note that this shirt has been previously seen in its black colour way, meaning there was definitely some major intent when putting this outfit together. Buying two of something shows purpose. Something to ponder.

More sleep wear! This time she’s alone so it’s all about the royal blue negligée (I’m Australian, I want to call this a nighty and call it quits) and sexy black robe with lace detailing. Once again, she’s so put together and classic, even when at home where no one can see her.

Our last outfit of the episode! If Ronnie’s black ring pull polo is giving you déjà vu, you’re not going crazy, she wore it’s twin in the last episode! Paired with a brocade patten skirt and OTK boots, I think we all know by now that I adore this outfit! This combination is something I love of Veronica, and I’m always drawn in when we see her experimenting with different patterns, rather than her usual tweed and plaid. It’s an all time favourite outfit for me.

Chapter Nineteen: Death Proof

I’m fully healed. I’m back in my own country. There’s a lot to cover in this episode. Let’s do this thing.

This dress has a lot of different textures in it and I have heart eyes for it. Between the collar, lace and brocade pattern, this dress screams VERONICA LODGE in such an aggressive way I’m not surprised this is longest worn look in the episode. This dress has echoes of the green lace dress our girl wore in the last episode when she first saw Nick and I love the contrast. There, she loved him, now she hates him. Not that we blame her. The much loved tear drop pearl necklace is holding strong here, you can just see it hiding behind the ties of our girls bow.

Quick note: Check out Cheryl rocking Ronnie’s blue velvet coat. Girls supporting girls. I love it forever.

It’s actually criminal that we only get a short look of this outfit. Her boots are over the knee and BURGUNDY guys! How could I not love it? It’s interesting that her sweater here is white, this isn’t really a colour that we see on our girl very often, and honestly not the colour that I would choose when picking up garbage… but again, each to their own. I love the ruffles on her skirt pockets. I love that her skirt has pockets in general. It’s a winner for me.

Now THIS is a contrast. White high neck sweater, skirt and OTK boots in the last scene, v neck body suit, SHORTS, a fur wrap, sheer black tights and stiletto heels here. I’m not going to say I love this outfit, cause I don’t, but I love how bad ass it makes her look. I mean, between the studs on her heels and that killer belt she’s rocking, she definitely looks the part of kinky detective.

Bow earrings, probably Archie’s shirt. The definition of comfort with your boyfriend. I love it.

This one looks a lot more simplistic than it actually is. I mean, check the texture of the shirt AND the cross over back. The shirt screams ‘take me to a club’ where the skirt is much more mild, a very safe navy/burgundy/white plaid. I actually love the combination of the two items that you wouldn’t normally pair together, combined with a classic Ronnie accessory, the bow belt, it’s an outfit that I personally think perfectly represents the changes she going through.

I LIVE FOR THIS SCENE!! The costuming on all the main characters here is incredible, however this is a Veronica blog, so my love for Betty Cooper shall remain internalised. This is not the last time that we will see this ring pull style of polo, however it is the first! I love the stripe detail around the collar on this one, paired with a printed lace-like skirt in matching colours. It’s very matchy matchy, yet it isn’t too matchy matchy… does that make any sense?

Our final outfit, our girl is in her glasses which we all know mean business, paired with this high neck, slight v cut dress and she looks much more like a crime queen pin than the high schooler she actually is… Riverdale, the town of pep and teenage mafia princesses. I do love this dress though, the scalloping really brings it to another level over plain black dress. Very apt for this scene.

Chapter Eighteen: When A Stranger Calls

This episode is a lot. Let just jump in.

I know I say this a lot, but I really wish we had been able to see more of this dress. The purple colour with the bow detail is classic Ronnie. We see in in a few more low cut numbers this season and this dress is no exception. It’s a winner.

This dress has a lot going on and I’m here for it. The black lace overlay, the collar, the tie neck, the pearl necklace, the green body. It’s different, yet it hold a lot of familiar pieces that we usually see. I love the combination of the navy and the green, two very Ronnie colours coming together perfectly in the one piece. It’s not the last time this episode we’ll see this colour combo.

This, by now, is a very familiar skirt! She first wore it in 103, then wore it’s twin in 201. I love the green/black plaid pattern, matched with a satin off the shoulder, cropped, zip back shirt, is very classy, yet more daring than the usual Veronica outfits we’ve seen before. Thinking back, I don’t think we’ve ever seen Ronnie in anything off the shoulder… Is it her ‘bad girl past’ coming through her clothes?

The other thing I’ll make notice of here, and in fact through out the rest of the episode, is the difference in pearl necklace she’s wearing. It’s not a classic single strand, or a tear drop as we’re so accustomed to her wearing. It’s a nice departure from her usual, while still maintaining the continued motif of the pearl we constantly see on our girl.

I… don’t quite know what to say about this particular outfit. I generally don’t use this blog to critique the outfits worn on the show, however this one has always felt weird to me. The length is confusing, the neckline is very low, and I’ve never comprehended why you would want to wear a zip up dress to high school. I can’t be the only one who safety pins my front zip outfits JUST IN CASE. I feel like the shoes make it worse for me, but we all know how I feel about these shoes. It’s just… an odd piece. In saying that, I do love the pattern on the skirt half of the dress, and the addition of the embellished bow belt is very in tune with class Veronica accessorising.

Side note: Ronnie added pearls to her pussy cat ears. Of course she did.

This is another odd one. Black embroidered mesh with a navy underlay? I get that one of Ronnie’s colours, particularly in this episode, is navy, but I feel like this dress would have been better serviced with a simple black undelay. I love the embroidery on this though, and I think the bright pink belt is an interesting addition.

The last time we saw Ronnie in open heels (that we know of) was when she went clubbing in 106. Open toe heels are her party shoes?

Also, note the new pearl necklace again. Still pearly, less in your face about it.

This episode is full of interesting dresses, and this is no exception. This twist front, strapless,  corset back navy satin midi dress is not something I would of expected to see Veronica wear, but I’ve been saying since the beginning that we were in for some changes in season two. The corset back was added by the costume department, specifically for THAT action scene, and I love the beading detail they added to it.

New Pussy Cat ears. These are metal!

Pom pom pumps to perform in? Okay. Pom pom pumps to beat up a would be rapist? It speaks to me.

A really good shot here of the new pearl necklace. I love the simplicity of it.

Chapter Seventeen: The Town the Dreaded Sundown

Hiiiiiii! We’re off again!

The embellished collar here is everything. I love how simple, yet classic Ronnie it is. We haven’t really seen her in that many embellished collars yet, but they’re coming! Her skirt here is interesting. Think about both times we’ve seen Ronnie in this dark pink colour. It’s always in relation to her parents doing bad things which matches here as she confronts her Father about manipulation her Archikins. 

The scallop coat returns. AGAIN.

I’m about 99% sure this is the same double breasted coat she last wore in 112, however I can’t be sure. This is Riverdale after all, the town in which each person owns AT LEAST three very similar pieces and acts like that’s normal.

The Red Circle shirt. I mean. It’s a scoop neck tee (which, to be fair, we’ve never seen Ronnie in a t-shirt before) and she’s still got her pearls in place. She hasn’t given up on her parents yet. I also think her skirt could be the one she wore in 202, but again, it’s Riverdale.

New bag making itself at home. 

I love the more casual view of our girl we get here. She’s got her shoes off and we can see her little black crew socks, and her glasses always mean she’s down for business. Usually, not the business of protecting her boyfriend from himself, but I guess that’s what good girlfriends do around here. 

THE CAPE RETURNS! Thank you lighting strike for allowing me to get a decent screen cap of this moment. I had though THE CAPE had been retired but fear not! THE CAPE is going strong and is definitely Ronnie’s version of Betty’s adventure coat. 

Button down red/blue plaid skirt! The last time she wore this colour in a skirt I called mention to how it could signify her support of Archie. At the time, I called it a stretch, now I’m not so sure. This is one of the most significant moments of their relationship. Ronnie is questioning herself because she DOES NOT want to become her Mother, blindly following the man she loves because she loves him. Yes, she wants to support Archie, but she’s not going to let him keep making stupid and frankly dangerous decisions. It’s a stark contrast to 201, where Veronica was flailing to figure out how to be a good girlfriend. Here, she letting Archie know what she thinks, she’s telling him what’s not okay. She’ll be supportive, yes, but she’s not going to stand by while he gets himself either killed or arrested. I think she might finally be hitting her girlfriend stride.

These boots. Lets have a little chat about these boots. They are NOT the same thigh high boots that she wore previously in 106, we know this because these boots have a dipped back. This means Ronnie has more than one pair of thigh high boots in her closet, but this is only the SECOND time we’ve seen her wear them. This is a travesty that, thankfully, this season will begin to fix. In other words, I love our girl in some thigh high boots. 

We haven’t seen this cape with the hood up since her mysterious entry in 101. Now she’s the mysterious girl with the gun. We’ve come a long way.

Just curious if there's a reason your posts have slowed down? You were doing an episode a day when you started and now they're more sporatic. I love your content, so just wanted to know why it's not as quick as before!

HI! Yes, there is a reason! As I mentioned at the start of my most recent post, I recently fractured my right wrist which is making typing up post rather slow and somewhat painful! I’m still trying to get posts out, but it’ll be a little slower until my wrist heals!

Chapter Sixteen: Watcher in the Woods

Another day, another post on our girl while I’m dealing with a fractured wrist. Times are fun and I’m avoiding my responsibilities. 

This is the start of short sleeve sweater Veronica! I love it. The checked black and white pattern on this shirt is stunning and one of the first times we’ve really seen Ronnie in a stand out pattern. Her skirt here is a simple black skirt, however note the small bow embellishments. It looks like it might have pockets, but that could just be a lighting thing. Her pumps are simple too, they seem to be made out of mesh with some sort of pattern in them? 

I LOVE THIS TOP! The navy. The pointelle detail. The jewel buttons. The short sleeves. I love it. I wish we got to see more of what skirt she paired it with... I’m thinking simple black with some pumps. 

The scalloped coat from 113 returns. We know I love it. 

Plastic gloves. A look.

Guys. This is a jumpsuit! Our girl is wearing a jumpsuit! I love this. The pearl double breasted buttons are a brilliant and completely in Veronica’s wheelhouse. This is the second time we’ve seen this blazer style of Veronica this season and I’m really here for it.  

Peep the drop pearl earrings she wears here. Love it. Again.

This is a LOOK! There’s alot going on with this dress. The lace, the cutouts, the mesh. Paired with a navy satin cropped jacket. It’s strangley risque for the setting. I mean, if I were to be having dinner with my boyfriend and my parents, I don’t think I would pull out the cut out front dress, but Ronnie manages to make it classy. Natually, the pearls are everywhere. She’s with her parents after all. 

Finaly outfit of the epiosde and it’s YELLOW. The last time she wore yellow, I talked about how it was her dissociating herself from her Mother. Here, she’s trying to get into the family buisness to really suss out what’s going on with her family. The change in colour palette is yet another link to her family through her wardrobe.

Can I include portrait Ronnie in this analysis? If so, note she’s wearing the same Ted Baker dress from 102.

Chapter Fifteen: Nighthawks

And we’re back in Riverdale. The town where the Black Hood is running riot and no ones hair or makeup is ever out of place.

Our girls jacket here is the same navy velvet blazer she wore in the last episode. We already know how I feel about it (LOVE!). Sure, the purple colour and bow belt (TED BAKER, you hear me scream) are definitely the norm, however the low neck and texture detail on the dress is a bit of a departure from what we have seen before, which makes me even more keen for season two fashion!

Note Ronnie is carrying her trusty bag from last season. This is one of the last times we’ll see it. RIP smoshed designer bag.

Now this is new! The polo shirt is a trend that we will consistently see through out the series from this point on, but this is the first instance of it! I love the green trim around the collar and sleeve of this shirt, and it’s a perfect example of how the costume department pair high end pieces with more accessible ones. Her double button front pencil skirt is very on brand for our girl, and once again it’s a skirt we will be seeing more of. We’ve seen these pumps previously in 110 and 201 and we all know how much I love them. It’s also a repeat of the coat from earlier, along with the tear drop pearl necklace. Lot’s of repeats here!

RiverVixens practice outfit. No more headbands for our girl anymore. Her hair is longer this season as well as having a middle part in stead of a side part. I think this look is actually better and more refined than the look we had all last season. She’s sophisticated, but it looks a lot more natural. Thanks for that Cami!

This ones hard. This is literally the only shot we get of this outfit. It’s purple, I think, has a v neck and cap sleeves. That’s about all I can say about it. The interesting thing about this scene is what we peep in the corner. NEW BAG ALERT FRIENDS. It’s Ted Baker. It’s smaller than her last bag. I love it. 

The RiverVixens retro outifit. The socks/keds are the usual RV uniform, however the burgundy shorts (never thought I would see Ronnie in short shorts, but here we are), with white braided belt and Pops yellow ringer tee are an obvious departure from the look we usually see our girl in. I do love the addition of the pearls however. In such a poignant episode about her relationship with her Father, the giver of pearls, I would have been shocked if they weren’t featured predominantly. Side note: anyone else wish Ronnie has been a part of the roller skate crew?

Once again this jacket makes an appearance. That’s three times in this episode alone. That’s a record.

Chapter Fourteen: A Kiss Before Dying

Season Two! Let’s do it!

We open on our girl lounging in bed, stil wearing Archie’s shirt, basking in the nights events. We can also notice here that her underwear matches her bra in colour, would we really expect anything else from Veronica Lodge?

Our first dream sequence from Mr Andrew’s traumatised mind. The gangs graduating and our girl shines in royal blue, a colour I would normally associate with her being with Betty. Here, I would think it has more to do with the Riverdale High school colours, especailly with the gold tassle on the hat. She seems to be wearing some kind of patterned white and black dress under it, but we never really see any details.

Back in the real world, and back in Archie’s shirt. Note the embossed diamond print on it. Very relevant for our girl. She also still has her pearls on. Clearly, those things come off for nobody and nothing. I love that she’s not even trying to hide her nights exploits from her Mother. She’s got her mimosa, chocolate almond croisant and a guys shirt on. This is her life now. 

This is the outfit that she wears for the rest of the episode so lets go through it slowly. This coat, which is actually a blazer dress, is amazing and definitley fullfills my need for seeing Ronnie in some epic outerwear. I love the navy velvet texture of it, along with the blazer structure which is something we haven’t seen on our girl before. 

The skirt is interesting. It’s the twin of the green skirt she wore in 103. The structure and pattern are very normal for Veronica. It’s the colour that throws me. We’e never seen Ronnie in red before, it’s definitley a departure from her usual jewel tones that she usually wears. What’s the significance of this? Possibly the red representing Archie and her continued support of him through out the episode? She’s showing her new girl friend prowess. It’s a great look on her. Also note her belt. It’s not a bow, but it is interlocking. Showing how two sides can come together to be one... Am I reaching here? Possibly.

Her shoes we’ve seen before, back in 110, the first time Ronnie and Archie had a moment that definied their relationship. This is a cute throw back by the costume department to show the connection between both moments.

Take a pause. Our gang is v. cute and suportive. Moving on.

I love the slight embellishment on this shirt. It’s subtle, but it takes what would normally be a plain black shirt, and Ronniefies it up. This is a much lower neck than we normally see on our girl. Exposed chest generally equals vunerability and she’s definitely that this episode. She’s trying her hardest to be the supportive girlfriend. She doesn’t want to run away when things are getting intense. 

Case in point: Great girlfreind material.

Barley visable, black (?), lace (?) bra. 

Can we count no clothes in an outfit analysis? I’m not sure, but note that the pearls have not gone anywhere. My previous statement stands.

Another dream sequence. Mr. Andrews has great taste in wedding outfits. I love the floral applique on this dress, along with the illusion neckline and button back. It’s classy and very Veronica. Also: Even Mr. Andrews appreciates that our girl can’t do anything with out her pearls. 

Total: Five, including the no clothes outfit, because she still had on her pearls which are an outfit in themself.

Chapter Thirteen: The Sweet Hereafter

We’ve made it to the end of season one! What a ride it’s been! Let’s continue.

We first see our girl rocking this adorable deep purple, v neck bow emebellished dress. It’s got a little lace trim which is cute and it SCREAMS custom made to me.

She matches it with the first appearance of what will soon become a very familiar coat. I love the scalloping detail and large buttons we get a glimpse of here. We’ll see it better in just a few moments with another dress.

The RiverVixens Practice outfit. Cheryl abdicated her throne and gives Ronnie HBIC (which, I thought already happened after the dance off? Am I confused?)

Ah ha! Here’s that better look at this coat I promised! Isn’t that scalloping detail amazing? I love the length of this too, not too long, not too short.

This dress has always intrigued me because we truly didn’t get to see enough of it. The material is an embossed lace (Is that a thing? I don’t know, I’m making things up.) and she wears a wide leather bow embellished belt with it. She also appears to be wearing black stockings again. It must be chilly in Riverdale. I must also note: Ronnie’s pearls here are different again, they’re silver. The significance? I’m not quite sure.

Ah ha! Archie and Ronnie are official and apparently they snuggle on the couch now. Who would of guessed? I honestly think a lot of the choice around this outfit was for the sensibility of the scene that we will be seeing in a bit, but more on that later. Her jacket is the same one we’ve been seeing popping up a few times these last two episodes. Her black pants appear to be tucked into her boots, which seem to suede and have a little gold embellishment on the side. Her top is purple, ribbed and sleeveless, which is very classic Ronnie.

This is the scene I was previously mentioning. Running through that much snow in any of Ronnie’s usual outfits would have been not only incredibly impractical, but very difficult for our fave actress. Look how much snow is covering her legs. The choice of pants/boots over the usual dress/pumps combo just makes more sense when you’re running to save the life of your drowning friend.

This dress is another one of those that has landed itself into my top ten. I love it looks like a simple black dress, but then the material opens up and gives us a look at the white, almost bodycon bottom of gthe dress. This belt we first peeped all the way back in 104 and this is not the last revival it will get.

Her floral applique clutch is a large departure from the usual very subtle bags we have seen Ronnie with. She’s just spent the evening performing on stage, she’s finally with Archie, she wants everything about her to stand out and show how happy she is.

Her pumps have a black and white checkered block heel. I can’t express my love for these adequately enough.

This is the first, but not the last I imagine, time I’ve had to try and get a screen cap of Ronnie’s bra. It was a weird moment. It’s quite a simple bra, when we consider some of the other lingerie that our girl will wear in future episodes. Navy blue in colour, it appears to have some kind of lace scalloping at the back.

Our last view of a girl for this season. She’s wearing Archie’s shirt from last night, and, even though it’s clearly the next morning and they spend the night doing all kinds of salacious things, Ronnie’s hair and make up is perfect and seemingly untouched… That’s the CW for you.

Chapter Tweleve: Anatomy of a Murder

Here we have a very rare sample of the episode starting with our girl wearing the same outfit as before. We’ll move along quickly here since you already know my thoughts on this stunner (spoiler alert: I love it). I didn’t actually comment of this bag last episode because we didn’t get a very clear view of it. The bow is a great compliment to the continuous motif that we have seen through out the series. That’s about all I have to say about it. 

This is actually the same satin cami and short set from 105, only without the pearls. This looks comfy now. I’d definitely lounge around in them.

A quick change to go and support her friends finds Ronnie wearing the same jacket from last night, this time paired with a black low neck top, purple pencil skirt and black stockings. Her drop pearl choker is back and provides a quick embellishment in what I’m sure was suppose to be Ronnie’s version of ‘I threw on what I saw in the corner and came as quick as I could’.

Veronica in a shirt collar is something that we will see often through out the series, and this particular dress is one of my favourite occurrences of this theme. I love the herringbone print and the way is flares out at the bottom (which we never really get to see). As we all know, I love this necklace. It’s the perfect addition to an outfit that already has a lot going on on the collar.

This mock neck dress is a style we haven’t seen on our girl in a bit. It’s reminiscent of the V.Lodge uniform we used to see every episode that finally started to change up as more episodes were filmed and the costume department figured out who they wanted Ronnie to be. I love the checkered print of this, along with the faint burgundy we see through out the pattern that links in so well to her burgundy embellished belt. It’s a great look, perfect for finding a dead body and finally solving a murder case.

This coat we previously saw last episode. We’ve seen these colour block pumps as well.

I’ll leave us with this. The gang have solved the case. But what’s next?

Chapter Eleven: To Riverdale and Back Again

Our girl, new HBIC, fixes her make up and makes sure her headband is in place… it’s cute and all, but I’m glad Ronnie’s hair is in for a major shake up next season.

The weather in Riverdale is getting colder, and you know what that means? Ronnie in her killer outer wear. This double breasted pea coat is just the start of Veronica’s coat collection, and I love how much of a staple this piece is. The flared hem gives a bit of spice to an otherwise classic piece. It’s simple, it’s understated, it’s the perfect piece to match the killer dress underneath.

This dress is a dream. The colour, the embellished collar, the fit and flare style pleated style, it’s Veronica Lodge in a dress. I remember seeing this dress in the Ted Baker store (I frequent it every time I’m in the city just to stare at the new pieces) and being surprised by how heavy this dress is. It’s made out of a scuba like material, and yes my friends, it has pockets. 

V’s earrings here are cute too. Half moon leaf shaped jems. No pearl in sight other than on her wrist.

This a very casual Ronnie, a Ronnie that has been woken up in the middle of the night by her not-so-boyfriend-boyfriend so they can conspire against their friends Dad together. This is different from the last sleep outfit we saw our girl in - no heavy pearls in sight. A simple black satin shift paired with green satin like gown. It’s refined, and much more comfortable than the last sleep outfit we saw her in. Peep the teeny tiny bit of exposed bra underneath her shift. Ronnie is a bra sleeper. There’s a sentence I never thought I would type.

Here we have an example of how sometimes costumers have to alter looks to suit weather conditions. All other times we see Veronica in this outfit, she is wearing black pumps, here she is wearing black lace up boots. There’s no way Camila would have been able to manage walking through all that snow with 6 inch stilettos so allowances were clearly made. These boots are much more practical for snow walking AND investigating your friends Dad as a possible murder suspect.

I love the texture of this cropped jacket. It’s thicker than her last coat, it looks warm, and the fur detail calls back to Ronnie’s previous fur party jacket. 

Then we have the dress. This is a new length on Veronica, one that is definitly appropriate for the event that they’re at. Note the shoes, how they are no longer the boots we saw earlier. Could you imagine walking through that much snow in those heels?  I love the sequins and they way they make our girl sparkle under the stage lights.  If we think back on the last time Ronnie wore sequins, she was trying to provoke her Mother. Here she is desperate to figure out whether her family is as evil as everyone has always said. There’s a family connection there, followed by the immense amount of pearls: earrings and necklace she has two waring sides, and she doesn’t know which will win yet.

This is a different pearl necklace to the others we have seen. There’s an embellihsed bead in the middle. She also wears yet another black embellished bow belt here, but it was practically impossible to get a decent screen cap.

That smile. Our girl was made to perform, and it’s only helped by preforming next to her favourite ginger guitar player.
