Sometimes I hate living and I just want to die. Sometimes I feel suicidal, not because I’m just generally depressed, but because the world sucks. God, the world sucks. I worry everyday about how I’m going to live on my own, how bills will get paid, what will happen if I get sick and I’m unable to afford healthcare.
I worry about my niece and nephew going to school, not because I’m against learning and education, but because what if some disgruntled former student comes back and opens fire into the school and they’re killed. I’ll kill the shooter and then myself, I guess.
I worry about global warming, nuclear bombs, and WWIII. I worry about genocide, rape, murder, sexism, racism, and everything else in between.
I worry about my health, my predisposition to addiction, and how to quit things. I’m trying to quit smoking. I should’ve never started, but it gave me something to do aside from worrying myself to death. I don’t continue smoking because I like the taste or anything, I continue because I don’t know how to cope. No one ever taught me how to cope because they didn’t know how to either.
I don’t think I’d actually kill myself, but god, sometimes I just think it’d be easier if I was dead. At least then I wouldn’t be afraid anymore.
Of course, then I worry about what happens when I do finally die. I’m worried that there isn’t anything beyond death and I’ll never see my family again and the thought of that leaves me catatonic. But then I worry about if there is an afterlife and whether or not I’ll suffer for eternity. I mean, I’m a good person. Like, I’m nice to people, I donate to charities, I treat others the way I want to be treated, but I do “sin” and I’m often not sorry. Sometimes I feel like life is too short to not have fun. Are my good deeds enough to absolve me or do I suffer because I’m only human?
I can’t tell anyone in my family this. I’m often the only/most mentally stable one there besides my mom and I know she needs me. My therapist doesn’t help with these things because he normally just says “if any of this happens, you’ll be too preoccupied or dead to worry about it”. And realistically, I know he’s right, but his reassurances do nothing. I still worry.
I suffer alone and I internalize it because that’s all I really know how to do. I’m good at it. I suffer, I breakdown, and yet I still have hope. Hope that one day things will be better, even if I don’t get to see it. Hope that my efforts on this plane of existence will not be for nothing and that someday, somewhere, someone will get to enjoy the fruits of my labor and my effort.
In spite of everything, I still hope.

as israel baselessly accuses palestinians of mass sexual violence again, i feel the need to remind everyone that white americans also made black and native people out to be animalistic rapists, not because it was true but because they were insanely racist.
this is a textbook colonial tactic that most people are unfortunately oblivious to. this is why looking back at history is important. emmett till is a good place to start if you want to see examples of this tactic.
but let’s also not ignore the countless palestinian men, women, and children who have been sexually abused and assaulted while detained by the iof for decades! their voices are rarely heard and their outcries buried by israel.

If any of you ever feel like what you're doing for Palestine isn't helping anything, I'll tell you right now it's helping me. I know it is fortifying all of us who have been in this fight for years to see so many people willing to speak up. It has never been like this before.
The tide has already turned. The fact that #free palestine will have new posts everyday, that helps me. It helps my mental health knowing that Palestinians are less alone now than ever.
Yesterday I read some verses from the Quran talking about how "the blame" is not with those who wish to help but cannot, but with those who CAN help and do not.
Truly I do not care if all you do for Palestine is post in that #free palestine everyday, that is still more than many people with the means to do even more would do.
We see you. We see you standing in solidarity with us and with Palestinians. We love you. Thank you.

Don't you ever forget the Palestinian artists and poets in Gaza that were murdered by Israel. Dreams of opening art galleries and sharing poetry, years of endless practice and growing passion. They loved life and they loved art, despite being born under occupation and apartheid they were never going to give up what they loved. In fact, they resisted through it every moment of their lives.
The art teachers. The poets. The girl who wanted to become a theater star. The teenage boy who loved to draw his favorite characters. Not vague or faceless, not numbers, each one was a soul with memories and passion and dreams. Each soul was an entire universe extinguished.

there's nothing more cruel than whenever queer arabs are fighting for to be seen as human beings and someone thinks an appropriate rebuttal is "lmao everyone you know wants you dead for who you are 🤣🤣" i don't think a person has an ounce of compassion when they say that. putting aside that "you have to be that much of a progressive person to deserve life" is a very fucked up mentality, it completely spits on every queer arab community fighting the hardest most gruesome battles you can think of just so they can make space for themselves and get to keep ALL aspects of their identity. you think you get to pick and choose your activism but i don't get to throw my arabness on the coat hanger before coming into your "progressive, queer-friendly" spaces. you're making us trade one injustice (suppressing our queerness to fit in) for another (suppressing our culture to fit in) and that's not the happy end you think it is. and then when we try to fight for a way to keep both aspects of ourselves you mock us very cruelly.

the UK's 'anti-BDS' boycott bill is returning to parliament for a third reading and vote Wednesday 10th of January.
this proposed law is not aimed at individuals, it would be impossible to stop people from boycotting, but instead targets public bodies like universities, public sectors, and councils in the UK. this would prevent public bodies from making ethical choices about where they want to invest their employee's pension funds. e.g. pension funds could be invested into companies that make arms for countries committing genocide.
the anti-boycott bill explicitly mentions Israel, trying to give them protection from public body boycotts as well as undermine the Palestinian led campaign for boycotting. it's disgusting and disgraceful.
share and reblog this post with your UK friends if you are not a UK resident.
UK residents, contact your MP and demand they oppose the anti-boycott bill. Palestine Solidary Campaign UK have an email template here.
UK residents, if you are able to join, Palestine Solidarity Campaign have organised a protest during the anti-boycott bill vote, Wednesday 10th of January outside of Parliament, London.
UK residents, if you are able to join, Palestine Solidarity Campaign UK have organised their 7th National March for Palestine, Saturday 13th of January in London.

something i’ve been thinking about lately is like. growing up muslim right after 9/11 is something i’d never really reflected on much because it was all i’d ever known — at 5, my friend’s mum didn’t let her invite me to her birthday party because i was the only brown girl in our class, at 12, my classmates would joke about my family being part of isis, at 16, my dad was interrogated by american airport security for hours — and it always stung and it always hurt but it was just the way things were because the western world hated muslims. but i don’t think i’ve ever fully comprehended the extent to which we were hated until now.
palestine is being turned into a mass graveyard. every single day there are new photos of the atrocities being carried out against them and videos of them pleading for help and still those who can actually intervene turn a blind eye. israel is claiming to only be targeting hamas “terrorists” while bombing a refugee camp. israeli police raided and assaulted a non-zionist jewish neighbourhood. israeli soldiers are posting tiktoks of them torturing captured palestinians. this is not a complicated issue and it never has been. ethnic cleansing is being committed right in front of us. and yet the western world leaders refuse to call for a ceasefire.
and while zionist organisations accuse pro-palestine demonstrations of anti-semitism, while zionist celebrities insist that they’re afraid to leave their mansions in los angeles, a six year old muslim boy was stabbed to death and his mother wounded in the same attack in chicago. a muslim doctor was murdered while sitting outside her apartment complex in texas. hundreds of peaceful protesters have been arrested (many of whom have been jewish). despite what zionists want you to believe, this is not a jewish/muslim conflict. i have so much love and gratitude to my brave jewish brothers and sisters all over the world who are condemning israel for their actions.
ultimately, israel have been granted impunity by the west. they have slaughtered thousands upon thousands of innocent palestinians. they have bombed hospitals and schools indiscriminately. they have used white phosphorus, violating the geneva convention. they have completely eradicated nearly 900 bloodlines. how many more need to be wiped out? how many more children need to be buried underneath the rubble? how many more doctors need to be confronted with the bodies of their own family members? how many more journalists need to detail the horrific acts of violence they are witnessing? what more can be done to the palestinian people that has not been done already?
i truly believe that palestine will be free one day. i believe the palestinian people will receive the justice they finally deserve. but what breaks my heart is how much they have suffered and will continue to suffer before they are deemed worthy of help. and it would be to all of our detriment if we ignored how much of a factor palestine being a predominantly muslim state has played into the way the world has reacted to their genocide.
