numbers dwindled as dead week approaches. we only had ~11 people this night. cops left expired citations early in the night but left and did not return! one demonstrated real maturity (/sarcasm) by putting an L to their forehead while passing us
we are still here and we will be here until UNM divests!!
🇵🇸 the University of New Mexico is camping for for a free Palestine!! 🇵🇸
I live in ABQ and want to show solidarity with the UNM protest - what do y'all need and how can I best support?
thank you for wanting to support us!!!
@unmpalestinesolidaritycamp on Instagram keeps a running list of what's needed (can also be found here) food is always appreciated, even if it's just snacks. we have a seemingly infinite supply of water so we should be fine on that for now. anything for warmth is so helpful, it's been getting cold at night and it's supposed to get colder
what we need most are people, if you're able to stay, even if it's just for an hour, that helps us immensely. you do not have to be a student to stick around for a bit and it's fairly safe- we haven't gotten harassed at all by cops during the day. absolutely understandable if you can't, though, and we appreciate your support in any form it takes 🤟

I feel like I haven't put this information out yet so
the reason UNM's encampment is doing so well is in part because we don't have tents! we don't have enough people to support that we're about 11-20 people at night and about 50 in the day. the cops also bitch about our sleeping bags so we are sleeping on tarps with blankets (or in my case... sleeping on a blanket with more blankets on top)
ABQ is delightful and warm but there's a cold snap so it's 45° tonight. and there are sprinklers. we figured out the sprinkler problem but we still get wet. and we are very very cold.

I have friends at Indiana University and they've been saying there are snipers on IU Bloomington campus. And theres a bunch of cops everywhere. This is wild.
hey, y'all, while the UNM encampment is doing well a friend at the Emerson encampment recently informed me that students at Emerson faced a mass arrest of over 100 protesters last night.
they're setting up a bail fund for the students. any left over money will be donated to various Gaza relief funds.
