Now that I'm taking part in an actual organised boycott, I'm even more frustrated with those 'campaigns' that are just like 'to boycott this thing just stop buying it and idk maybe fill in this form or something'.

#the bds campaign for example is full of giant companies with a million subsidaries...it's basically a boycott of capitalism itself #as i have said before. And you know wouldn't that be great? but realistically it won't work #it seems to exist to a lot of people as a kind of way of judging others if you see them using certain shops or something #that's not helping #there has to be better ways of putting pressure on Israel than individual consumer choices regarding some of the biggest brands #in the world. I wish at least one act had loudly boycotted Eurovision. Or a whole country even better. :/ #fyi not buying from certain brands because of your values is great! Everyone live their values! #it's just in these cases judging others for not doing the specific thing you are will inevitably lead to #the fact that you still are forced by capitalism to buy things made in unethical ways in all facets of life #purity isn't possible and if you worry about it all the time you will never do anything else

God, what if instead of staying at home and doing my laundry and thinking about this shit I caught the bus to Bournemouth and lay on the beach and put my feet in the sand and listened to the waves and didn't have any of this shit in my head.

#the shit is basically that this nice friendship circle i though i was building with other queer people here got ruined #because there had been some major probems in our lgbtq meet up group that had been really harming some people #i tried to address them with the organiser who is my friend and who has been mainly from a distance due to mental health issues #i didn't realise how much in a bad place she was and unable to hear any criticism of the group #even though the criticism was valid and very serious she took it personally and we got nowhere #eventually she and the other guy who runs it walked back a decision to ban this one member who has harmed many people #i had been told this member was as good as gone and now they needed more evidence? i was angry #i sent a strongly worded email to organiser friend but it was carefully written and included appreciation of hard work as well #but then yesterday i got a message from the other guy saying my email had been so triggering to my friend that he had #had to stop her from self harming because of my email- not in these words but it was a very strong implication. #so yeah i've been dealing with that ever since.

#it's a play on wild at heart of course but tbh the reason i went for that is because i thought tumblr was dumb #when i joined in like 2011- i really didn't get tumblr for some reason even though at 21 i was far close to the 'getting tumblr age' #than now #so i wanted to seem really rational- not heart but mind you see? #and no i wasn't an edgy reddit atheist at all but writing it out it sounds like i was!!! #i only made the blog for uni to post illustration wips and stuff #the only thing i liked about tumblr was some of the blog themes and how easy it was for my not great at IT self to use #ironically my blog is now entirely emotional venting! so more heart than anything. #and the most wild thing about me is i like wildlife

I'm still cranky about the advice column where a pair of friends drifted apart due to pandemic + the writing in friend having had a baby, which resulted in the writing in friend not being able to be there for the other friend as during bereavement as much as they should have been. The writing in friend was white and the other friend was black so the advice columnist did a lot of privilege dynamics talk, but completely failed to acknowledge how much work a new baby is a single time.

#like you're telling the writing in friend to examine their white privilege in letting their WOC friend down #ok sure but it wasn't for no reason it was caring for an infant! it sucks when that happens but it can be reversed #if you are actually friends and not a collection of privilege dynamics- seriously the way some people write #you would think it was impossible for people of different races to be friends at all #and if we are acknowledging privilege dynamics to such an extent you could at least acknowledge #that the woman writing in is very likely doing way more of the childcare than her male partner #anyway i hope both the friends are doing well #and despite the bad advice i hope the writing in person was able to make it up to her friend for letting her down

i cant help but notice that the chocolate chips cookies you brought to the potluck yesterday had bad vibes. so i went through your cabinets while you were sleeping and checked out the chocolate chips you used. i mean they looked innocent on the surface, they were even fair trade certified. but i just couldn't shake that itching sense that sometning was off. i infiltrated the chocolate company's headquarters by posing as IT support. and you know what I found? the guy who designed the labels got a dui in 2007. so it turns out my instincts were right and you're a terrible person.

Sometimes I see posts on here and feel like a lot of you have internalized the idea that the qualifying prerequisites for being LGBT are being cool and interesting and subversive, and that the fact that everyone in the community happens to be attracted to their own gender or else stepping outside of the gender assigned to them is just a happy coincidence, and not like, "not only a qualifying prerequisite, but the SOLE qualifying prerequisite." Being gay IS cool, but THAT'S the happy coincidence. Like I'm sorry to break it to everybody but even boring gay people are gay and even cool straight people are straight, because being gay is not about being cool, it's about being gay.
