For continuity purposes and just. not straining my brain. I will be keeping the locations introduced during TLG for Shenzi's and Nyotas (@worldclassmenageriie ) verses that are set during the TLK movies and not during TLG
PS: I am moving my animal muses to a sideblog under the same URL just attached to shenzi! I do still enjoy my interactions with muses like ed and banzai and such on Martha but i understand she is not who everyone is overthere for and it will keep her dash and following list a bit easier to manage for those who are mutuals only w/ other animals muses.

Stories Passed Down
The start of the dry season always put Shenzi's nerves a touch on edge--not that they didn't have plenty of water---they had their own watering hole so they werent going without but the increasing heat got to everyone at least a little.
Watching the younglings play at the edge of the watering hole lifted her spirits at least a little, chuckling when one of the little ones ran up to her soaking wet.
"Look at you, squirt." She chuckled.
"I wen' swimmin!" The cub laughed, shaking the water off and scrambling between the matriarch's paws.
"You sure did!" Shenzi agreed, giving the young hyena a lick to the top of the head before she noticed the little one was staring off toward the pridelands border. "Whats up, honey?"
"Queen Shenzi.....why cant we play over there? Theres lots of grass...and other animals! Why cant we go? Did we do something wrong?"
The queen took a deep breath as her ears laid back against her head.
"No...no baby we didnt do anything wrong. I'll tell you what my momma told me. I asked her the same thing..."
"You did?"
"I did" She confirmed with a nod. "My momma told me it’s because lions are selfish. That they only care about keeping their power, and lions of the past knew us spotties were strong. Knew that the clan was stronger than their pride and if we wanted we could make them lose their power. They hated us for it. So they drove us out, and left us to struggle while letting the predators who posed no threat to their throne continue to live and hunt on their land."
The cub frowned as she listened. "Lions are mean...."
"Yeah...yeah they are kiddo. Other animals call us lots of things. They call us stupid and cruel but dont you ever listen to 'em. We're proud and beautiful with strong families. Be /proud/ to be a hyena, fuzzy. We don't need the pridelands"
The little hyena laughed as Shenzi nuzzled her side, tickling her and making her squirm.
"Now you go back and play." She huffed. The cub nodding rapidly as she scrambled away from the tickling, back to the other younglings. Leaving Shenzi to rest her head down with a soft grunt.
The story never sounded any better no matter how many times she heard it---but it deserved to be passed down when they asked.

"Not to worry" Nyota nodded before turning to walk back to her own territory, clearly not in any sort of hurry

"Fun, daddy!" The little cub giggled, playfully trying to boop her father on the nose. "had fun! Again??"
Nyota laughed loudly. "You had fun, fuzzball?" Her tone was amused. "You and the cubs did have fun, but I dont think your dad wants you to come play again. Sorry Fuzzy. "

"I'm not looking for trouble---just sniffing out any leftovers to carry home." She gave Mkali his space, knowing if he ran off she was in no state to chase and prevent him from telling on her. The burns from the pride rock fire were well on their way to being healed but she was still slow until then. A slow, lone spottie with no allies or friends since being separated from her birth clan. Now a queen with territory, but no clan.
"I'm alone, if you're concerned." She shifted to turn over a nearby stone just out of curiosity. Finding a millipede to pester underneath. She didn't hurt it---just...annoying it. "Didnt think there was any nocturnal animals back this way"
Aka she thought she could go about her business without running into any pridelanders.

Nyota's Shadow Clan
Nyota - Remnant of Shenzi's shadow clan, separated during the fire and wounded. oldest female. Most of the members are her children in years going forward.
Jabari - Nyota's favored male. Most of the offspring produced in the clan are his and Nyota's. He met her a little over a year after Scar's death and was the first to join her.
Asani - 2nd male to join the clan
Khari - 3rd male to join the clan
Jirani - 4th and latest male to join the clan
Zuri- First daughter of Nyota and Jabari; twin to Yazid
Yazid- First son of Nyota and Jabari; twin to Zuri
~ The twins were born before Simba had his own cubs.
Yeye - Second daughter of Nyota and Jabari
Zura - Third daughter of Nyota and Jabari
Kiango- second son of Nyota and Jabari
`~ The next cub is born right around when Kiara is born. The first set of cubs are already a year and half when Yeye and Kiara are born. The next two each born the next 2 coming years. Kiango is born right around the time Kiara is on her first hunt.
Kito - First son of Zuri and Asani
~ Kito is born at the same time as Zura, within days of eachother.
Malkia - First daughter of Zuri and Asani
~ Born in tandem with Zura
Haki - second daughter of Zuri and Asani
~ Born in tandem with Kiango

By the end of TLK 2 the clan is 13 strong, made of Nyota's children, grandchildren and the wandering males who joined them over the years.
Nyota keeps her distance from the pridelands and ensures her clan does as well....at least during daylight hours. They never take more than they need in their kills, and otherwise stay in their own territory centering around the elephant graveyard and extending into the backlands.

Jabari - 3yrs (not in the pridelands at the time)

Nyota - 5 1/2yrs
Jabari - 4yrs

"Fun, daddy!" The little cub giggled, playfully trying to boop her father on the nose. "had fun! Again??"
Nyota laughed loudly. "You had fun, fuzzball?" Her tone was amused. "You and the cubs did have fun, but I dont think your dad wants you to come play again. Sorry Fuzzy. "
The cub looked absolutely distraught. "Why!?"
“The Elephant Graveyard?” Simba asked with dispair in his voice and did a fast check on Kiara looking for some kind of injury, but she seemed to be fine. Great Kings above - even better Ashanti took her home this soon.
“Well, Ashanti, it’s 1-1 now. I am sorry for intruding your territory. Accidents like this can happen to little cubs, it seems - here he refered to the previous story when her cubs had strayed into the Pride Lands - even if you keep your eyes open.”

"Diana" The saluki answered simply, tail swaying slightly as she found half of a burger. Grabbing it and hopping down from having her paws up on the rim of the garbage can---it wasnt too old either.
"Though I wonder what kinda street dog is so forthcoming, usually the ones I've seen stick to their own." It wasnt a jab...merely an observation. She usually was never approached by other street dogs.
Charlie grinned, his head turning a little to one side. “Oh, I wouldn’t say I use it often… but that’s ‘cause I ain’t seen a girl as pretty as you ‘round here before,” he replied, lifting one of his forepaws slightly off the ground as he nodded forward her.
“I s’pose I shouldn’t ask you out until I know your name,” he said. “I don’t wanna be rude.”
Charlie got the impression that this pretty canine wouldn’t be the type of girl to be swept off her paws too easily, but he was damned if he didn’t try.

"Its no trouble; I know I wouldnt wanna be out there in the cold all night." She cooed softly, scooching to make room for the other fox. "My name's Rita. Youre not from around here are you? Ive never smelt you before...as far as I know its just me and Vixey in this territory, no males."
She wasn't looking at him as she poked holes in his story of being turned around, muzzle resting on her tail.
Tod was pleasantly surprised at the vixen’s offer. He shyly smiled, gaze low. “Oh, gee… that’s really nice of you…”
He lifted his head to meet her gaze, his eyes gleaming with a grateful shine. “…I can’t refuse somethin’ like that. Thank you.”
Tod hurriedly shook himself off, staying back so he didn’t get her wet, too, and carefully crawled into the den.
Upon lying down, he wrapped his damp tail around his shivering body, giving her another smile. “Golly, I-I can’t thank ya enough for this, miss,” he said. “M-my name’s Tod. What’s your name?”

"No, no you didn't" She shook her head. "Its awful cold out there---Its just me here. If you dont know how to get back to your den.....I don't mind sharing for the night" She offered, tucking her paws under her body as she looked up at him.
"Staying out there won't be good for you"
Tod looked back at Rita, quickly standing and facing her. “Oh-! I-I’m sorry, miss… I didn’t mean ‘ta disturb you…”
Ears low, he stood still, avoiding her gaze. “I… yeah, I, uh… got turned around, I guess,” he lied, “an’ now I’m not sure where I’m at.”
He didn’t want to make her feel bad for him, but he probably did look pretty pathetic by shivering and looking sad.
Tod began to back away. “Sorry again… I’ll be on my way. Maybe I’ll see you later.”

Rita's den happened to be nestled in the roots of this very tree. She was safe and dry from the rain---but there was an unfamiliar smell. Another fox?
The vixen slowly poked her head out of her burrow, blinking up at Todd from the hole. "Hey, whatre you doing out in the rain? It's cold! You should be back in your burrow ya know" She'd never seen this fox before---that was odd. She thought it was only her and Vixey in this general territory. No male foxes that she knew of!

Why had she left him…?
He didn’t get it. Mrs. Tweed had driven him out here, removed his collar, and then she’d just…
Left.
He hadn’t done anything wrong, right?
No… whatever the case was, Tod felt depressed and lonely. He walked slowly through the dark, rainy forest, wishing only to be home with Widow Tweed.
Safe and warm in his basket.
The fox’s head was held low, his ears and fur flat against his skull and body.
Then a boom of thunder and a flash of lightning spooked Tod, who gasped and flinched.
Then, as he relaxed, he just sat down underneath a tree, his head hanging down.

The Saluki trotted into an alley, kicking the lid off a trashcan when Charlie approached. Long legs up on the cans rim to reach the food inside.
"Not new. Just dont come around this side of town much." She quipped with a swish of her tail. "Sounds like a well practiced line, Charlie. Use it often?" Diana asked, nosing through the top layer of newspapers to see if there was anything worth true interest.

Charlie scratched at his ear with his hind leg, bored of sitting alone in the shade of an alley.
He wanted to look for something to do, but wasn’t sure there would be that much going on when it was this hot.
It was Sunday, so the casino was closed. Charlie didn’t mind Sundays sometimes, but even so, it was his least favorite day of the week because of how slow they were.
Itchy wasn’t around, so hanging out with him was out of the question. Maybe he could-
Then Charlie saw something that made him stop.
A pretty Saluki! She had chocolate brown and tan fur, and she looked to be just minding her own business, walking along the sidewalk across the street from Charlie.
His surprised look subsided into a mischievous one. Maybe he could score a date with this beauty! 
The shepherd mix trotted across the street and glided up to the Saluki, putting on his most charming grin. “Well, hey there,” Charlie began, leaning his head towards her. “You must be new ‘round here, ah? I’m Charlie Barkin… and you are?”
