I forgot this blog exists lmao
Tumblr media
My bad. I actually have some story ideas I want to start writing already--one intended for my Youtube channel, and another I don’t intend to actually publish, but to explore characters and their actions that would ultimately greatly affect the main narrative. The latter will have its own blog, which can be interactive (you can send Asks) but NOT RPable. The blog is also separate because I want to prevent clutter on this one, as it serves the entire setting rather than a few.
I’ll link the new blog later after it’s set up.

Character Profiles: Princess Zi-Zi
Tumblr media
Character Full Name: Princess Asj Zi-Zi
Metaspecies: Dilophosaurus wetherilli (Dilophosaurus)
Place of Origin: Ca-Ri Ha-Taj
Race: Jan-Taj
Age: 19
Physique: Lean
Height: 8′
Gender: Female
Romantic/Sexual Orientation: Homosexual homoromantic
Marital status: Single
Personality: Easily frightened and anxious; prone to fits of crying and anxiety; otherwise kind and compassionate, if rather naive and confused of the outside world
Notable Skills: Ability to beckon and command light without any sources; able to form “hard light” to any shape she wills, oftentimes for her own experiments and computations (or however she likes).
Additional Skills: Well versed in different sciences and mathematics; once learned how to fight but has been out of practice ever since she was locked up in her tower.
Combat Efficient?: Not very well, but she can learn.
Romanceable: Yes.
[Description]
The youngest and only daughter of eight children, Princess Zi-Zi is heir to the Throne of Ca-Ri Ha-Taj, the land of the Jan-Taj and all their conquered neighbors. Unbeknownst to her, the kingdom is unaware of her existence, and she in turn was never allowed to leave the Palace. Though she was fortunate to be taught and raised in how to be an effective ruler, upon learning she is to feign her existence as her mother, Goddess-Queen Za-Zu, upon her death, she rebelled. A confrontation with Za-Zu and her guards resulted in displaying powers of the Light bestowed upon her by the Gods, which prompted Za-Zu to imprison her in a tower and keep her existence a secret to the rest of the world. The Queen then waited for the Song to arrive, with her own plans regarding her daughter, her own immortality, and how to keep Ca-Ri Ha-Taj under her rule. Zi-Zi, meanwhile, would spend the rest of her days in the tower learning more about her powers, hoping someday she will figure out a way to break herself free.
[Mun’s Notes]
If anyone finds Zi-Zi’s personality intolerable with her whining and cowardice, I implore my partners/viewers to please be patient with her, as she has been locked up in a tower for much of her life with only servants giving her food/water and books for entertainment as means of interaction. Otherwise, she tries her best.
If anyone wants to interact with her when she’s out of the tower, they’d have to join up with other heroes during or after she is broken out. Otherwise, most interactions with her would be from the tower.

worldofthebatala is no longer an RP blog. RP will be taken place in a separate blog.
Tumblr media
//Don’t worry, I still intend to RP Ba’tala and write for the canon story! It’s just that I realize how cluttered worldofthebatala will be for those who follow it but are not there for the RP, whereas I find a lot of fantastic memes or aesthetics for RP that I don’t want to reblog in worldofthebatala. So I finally made a separate RP blog JUST for RP and RP-related shenanigans!
For RP, head on over to @playsofthebatala! Worldofthebatala will now be for art, lore, project updates, and other story-related ramblings ONLY.

//SCALE IS A FUNNY THING.
Tumblr media
I mean you have the giant Rets’nis and the standard height Hikoro and the little kid Madahon, and their scales are already all over the place and wacky, and it’s all good and all, but the real reason why I haven’t been RPing as of late (besides watching the bae play StarFox Adventures)?
Tumblr media
I’m currently working on a proof of concept involving the Gods, with Bu’hay, God of Life, in hopes to kickstart my video narrative. My previous video test was a bust, so hopefully this one will succeed.

//This is aimed moreso to my newer followers, or a reminder to my longer time mutuals:
Tumblr media
In addition to maining two canon muses @the-great-tiger-of-mumbai and @peppy-pilot, I am also working on original content which I hope to publish on Youtube once enough of the art and story is complete. Hence, while I’m on Tumblr to RP for funsies, sometimes I’m slow/unavailable even during freetime because I’m working on my original content. On occasion I hold streams if folks wish to join me and chat as I work on my art.
Tumblr media
You can follow @worldofthebatala for lore and art, though I’ll be retiring it as an RP blog and moving RP elsewhere. DeviantART page is over at https://www.deviantart.com/talesofthebatala.

Currently working on a video test with OpenShot Video Editor, but I’m currently struggling with how to zoom, pan, and transition from one image to the other without everything turning to black. It’s frustrating.
Have some art from the video test, though it’s not all of it. I’m just proud of how they turned out.

My humble apologies for how GINORMOUS this chart, but to be perfectly honest, this is the cropped version. The featured chart is 6+ generations removed from the established Iinu Grand King and is created mostly to serve as a writing reference regarding the House of Iinu as the current ruling family of Siquotia. There aren't any real details to be said of the previous Grand Kings beyond actual political history, but I'm not going to bore you to tears with that info. At least not right now.
When a Grand King dies with no named heir, a succession crisis can occur, which has happened when Hikoro (highlighted in gold) was placed onto the Throne. For nine generations, the branch family Neuda'e was the dominant branch, composed of whom we'd recognize as the Wolves, Coyotes, and Foxes. However, upon the death of Gokoro, his named heir Meikoro was representative of the A'aso branch of the family, and the A'aso would become the ruling branch of the Iinu, and stayed that way today. When Makoro died and a heir was not named at the time, Neuda'e and A'aso competed for who would be legitimately next in line; among other named heirs of Hikoro's generation was Turuuh, son of Makoro's eldest sister She'iho; Pei'gi, whose family line was far more active in imperial politics for generations before Makoro; and Loroka'iah, at the time the eldest male direct descendent of the last Neuda'e ruler prior to the branch split, Gokoro. There were other proposed heirs to the throne prior to Hikoro being brought forward to take the Crown, but Turuuh and Pei'gi are the most prominent and the only ones I'd tell folks to remember.
I listed a crapton of other family members, but I should note that, by and large, they would be too distantly related to any ruling branches of the family and are just considered extended family. Most would be considered Quushu (Ruling Nobility), but a few would keep their Juheiho (Ruling Nobility) roots and socially hold themselves there. Such is the case of Orayo's family, who are military leaders who lord over armies rather than districts or territories (directly, at least). A few others, such as Je'imi's branch, would consider themselves Kohuchuba ("tradesmen") and separate themselves from politics altogether, but they aren't that common.

Lore: The afterlife (according to the Hitoh)
The Hitoh believe in reincarnation and the concept of karma. However, unlike Buddhist/Hindu beliefs of karma and reincarnation, there are no concepts of Heavens or Hells to pass through, nor will someone become a worm for bad karma or obtain Nirvana/Brahman with good. To go with the ideas of the Way of the Qaju (to be elaborated later), the nature of Hitoh's ideas of the afterlife are more nature-based and becoming one with the physical universe as well as the spiritual.
According to Hitoh belief, when a person has or is dying, a trio of wind spirits known as the Nubashi may be heard outside the dying person's door heralding the end of their life. Once the person dies, the Nubashi lead the soul to the nearest river, where they will wait to be taken down on a ghost ferry, captained by the Muhebo water spirits, by the start of the new spring (the beginning of the Hitoh year). The Spring Equinox is believed to be the Day of Judgement of the previous year's dead, as it is the day of Fire which the fire spirits Kitupo will judge where the dead ultimately go. If the deceased has good karma, they are taken by the Nubashi to be the clouds, as clouds are attendants of the Sun, the Holy God-King Qaju Himself. If the karma is bad, the deceased are taken into the Earth, to be forced into labor by the Earth God Toje, as tenders of the Roots of trees and crops. Reincarnation occurs once that next "life" is over and their time serving either God is up, and the soul is given another chance at life for higher existence. It is said that the cycle of reincarnation is over when a person has died with so much good karma, they are permanently a part of Qaju's court by becoming one of the Stars.  A collection of bad karma would cast the soul into eternal Oblivion, the dark endless space beyond the Stars.
More on Hitoh faith to come later.

//As much as I want to resume anything with Tales of the Ba'tala, my creative hiatus is still in effect--mostly because the past few months haven't been kind to me, and I have gone through the biggest burnout in a long while. With that said, I hope to resume working on this story and getting back to what I'm hoping is a Youtube project, but my hopes isn't as high as they used to be when I learned how Patreon pledges actually work. But I'm not going to let that dishearten me. I'll just have to figure something else out.
Until then, I'm looking through different sources of inspiration in hopes to get me back on my feet in writing Ba'tala. Likely I'm probably going to be working on the main narrative than the worldbuilding and art for now, hence why you might not see anything for a good while. That is, unless you don't mind me posting miscellaneous drabbles. They may be canon, they may be not. We'll see.
For a fact, though: I won't be RPing. I don't have the muse to RP anyone at any setting at any point of the timeline. Perhaps this is why the hiatus is needed: I need to rethink the narrative.

((Do birdfolk and lizardfolk in your world come from eggs or live birth?))
Tumblr media
//Short answer: Both!
Long answer: All the sapient races of Creation are oviviparous, meaning they lay eggs but are carried in the mother until birth. In addition not only those whose metaspecies are oviparous (birds, most reptiles/amphibians/fish) now capable of showing a pregnant mother, but this also means that the mammal metaspecies don't provide milk nurse their young. I must emphasize that Creation is an alien species, and while they are humanoid and possess traits we recognize as animals of our world, they are neither actually human nor animal. Their Dogs are not our dogs, and their Birds are not our birds. So Creation's "mammals" don't nurse their young, and their "birds/lizards" don't actually lay their eggs.

[Description]
While Kogaa has very, very vague memories of home and family, he otherwise only knew of life in the Shokah Abbey as one of the very young squires for the Holy Guard. When Grand Royal General Zahura dropped by the Church for worship, he took notice of some of the squires there, including Kogaa, and demanded he take some to be placed in the Grand Royal Guard instead of the Holy Guard. By decree of Grand Royal Head Councilor Gi’utoh as an acting regent for the newly crowned Grand King Hikoro, the Abbey had to give up Kogaa and a few other squires in order to train them to be Hikoro’s personal guards. Because Kogaa was at first raised as a squire for the Holy Guard rather than a Royal Guard, the boy carried his pious upbringing and training with him all the way to adulthood, which not only allowed him to rise to the top in his studies and in the field, but even convinced the rest of the Grand Royal Council in that Kogaa would help maintain the Mandate of Qaju--the divinity of Hikoro as the Grand King of all of Siquotia. As such, before even hitting his thirties, Kogaa was appointed as the Captain of the Grand Royal Guard, a position he took extremely seriously even up to this day.
[Mun’s Notes]
Wait a minute, doesn’t he look identical to Kitoah? Yes. The two are twin brothers, and their story is interconnected. A LOT of retconning happened from what was previously planned in the cancelled Echoes of Silence comic despite not making an appearance in the comic proper (for instance, he was changed from a bald eagle to a gyrfalcon), so if you have any knowledge of him from the old days, scrap it all. The only thing Kogaa has nowadays that remains unchanged is that he’s still the no-nonsense birdy Captain of the Grand Royal Guard and in love with Kalayaan.
“Immy, how do you pronounce his name? Is it like the Japanese Koga/Kouga?” It’s actually Ko-GAH-ah. No dipthongs, all glottal stops between the vowels. The same applies to any Hitoh name with no apostrophe in between double vowels.
