also looking back on what went down between tom & greg in earlier seasons, it kind of feels like the writers mostly abandoned what they were developing there. i wonder if it was like in direct opposition to fan reactions/shipping, but its probably more like they just wanted to focus on the siblings.

#not that they were developing them in a romantic way but like there used to be more conflicting emotions at the heart of their relationship #which seemed to have been resolved offscreen before the season even began #like at the beginning of s4 it seemed like they were nothing but good pals disregarding whatever past abusive behavior from tom #so like sure good for them but if they decided they were good friends then theres no conflict and their dynamic becomes uninteresting #at least compared to what it was before #also the acting frm the first few episodes had me convinced that greg was straight so i just couldnt rlly consider the ship srsly after tha #well it was fun while it lasted #i liked the fight in the last episode tho it was just like old times #succession

succession s4 after logans death kind of feels like s5 of breaking bad, where after the main conflict gets resolved (the threat of logan/gus), the show feels like its left in the falling action stage of that generic plot diagram & the rest of it is tying up loose ends. like major plot events still happen but especially early on after the big death it kind of loses momentum and takes awhile to settle on the next (lesser) conflict to address. with succession, the world kind of loses depth bc it fixates on the 3 siblings as pretty much the sole povs to follow (who are all almost entirely focused on the future of the company, so we mainly just get one singular conflict to focus on), while previously prevalent side characters have a much lesser role (tom&greg, connor&willa) without much time spent on their perspective/motivations (+ logan is gone), so the pov becomes rather limited.

#its kind of a 'shit just got serious lets drop everything else' kind of move #which is good if you were more invested in the power struggle aspect #but its less abt developing the world/minor characters and more abt taking what ws already there & getting to the ending in a conclusive wa #also gotta say it was a lot less funny this season #for good reason tho bc of logans death but i miss when the show was funny #succession

succession final was pretty good, i love tragedy and seeing people lose so bad

#just spent the last two days catching up with succession #overall my thoughts r tht this season was well done but less enjoyable than prev seasons #the final might be a bit controversial but it feels like everyone got what they deserved and it makes a lot of sense where they ended up #im pretty satisfied w how they ended things & it feels like a good point to end the show #i have more thoughts abt the season as a whole but yeah good ending

when shiv said “daddy?” and ken said “i love you but i can’t forgive you” and roman said “you’re a very good dad…..you did a good job……i cant do this” and connor didn’t say anything at all because he wasn’t given the chance .

i think they were too harsh about kerry's reaction to logan's death. its actually very common for people to involuntarily smile or laugh after finding out someone has died

#i used to think i was psychopathic for this but its actually pretty normal #its bc youre faced with a stressful situation that you dont know how to react to #or something idk im not a psychologist #succession #succession spoilers

succession episode was so sad. i didnt care about logan dying but the depiction of the siblings finding out about it and grieving was really affecting
