No horses today. Let's talk about bamboo instead 😊
Back to Song dynasty in ancient China, there was an artist, named Wen Tong, who lately became a master in painting of bamboo. To study all the details of bamboo, it's colour, dimensions of joints, length, thickness of leaves, etc., how bamboo look like in different seasons and weathers, Wen Tong observed it to such details for many many years, so that the bamboo in his paintings look like real and alive. A well known Chinese poet of the time commented that Wen Tong has bamboo in his heart, before the bamboo painted on the paper. Lately, this story became a commonly used Chinese idiom, literally means "one has bamboo in the chest". Why in the chest, not in the heart, literally because heart is in the chest🙃.
Nowadays, this idiom derived from the story refers to that one has confidence over something beforehand. In the context of art creation as in the original story, it expresses the spirit of dedication on a subject and the art creation of the familiar subjects out of memory, mind and/or heart ❤️.
The image is obtained on line, refers to its watermark. This painting is commented as one of bamboo artworks of Chang Dai-Chien (1899-1983), who is a well known Chinese artist (master level) of Chinese ink painting.
