It happened. I finally made it!

Can you believe that we made it? I still can’t either. But we did. And I know you will spend most of the next few years of your life wondering if life ever gets better. I’ll tell you now because you won’t believe anyone else who tells you so: it does.

I know you’ll spend a great deal of time crying --- in your sleep, in the bathroom floor (yes, more than once), on the way home, in Drew’s. My advice is to keep doing it: you’ll almost always feel better in the morning.

I also know you’ll be pushing a lot of things and people away. It’ll be painful. I hate to say this but you’ll need it. You’ll need it to realize how shitty of a friend and a person you can be. You’ll need it to be able to appreciate those who love you despite your darkest days. You’ll need it to empathize with others in the same predicament. You’ll need it to be better. a lot better.

I know you’ll feel lost most of the time; you’re not. This biggest secret that I can tell you now is that the dots do connect backwards. You’ll one day experience euphoric joy that matches this pain. You’ll make great friends, eat delicious-out-of-this-life food, see a view and feel its beauty, read books that will enrich you. You’ll have wonderful late-night conversations, you’ll keep laughing until everything hurts. You’ll learn about yourself. You’ll one day wake up without feeling like the world has to end.

You’ll fall inlove with things you once left behind: design, music, and yourself. For now, hang in there.
