#My sister noticed this recently #our parents keep saying that there's consequences for everything we do which is true #but it's always imposed consequences because we “wont learn from our mistakes if we're not punished” #like. if we forget something we're punished and yelled at because “it was important” and we wouldn't have forgotten if we actually cared #but when our mom forgets something. even when it is important she just gets to shrug it off #one time our parents were going out so I asked my sister to ask our mom if she could remove the time limit on my tablet #I had an injury at that time and I couldn't really do anything because the cut opened when I walked #and it took until afternoon for her to remember. and it was only because she called us to ask about dinner

Ya know when people told me "when you're finally safe enough that you can leave survival mode and start to let go of and process your c-ptsd/trauma things are probably going to get really, really bad before they slowly start to get better" I thought that was reasonable. I did not understand that by "things are going to get bad" they meant "you're going to find yourself in the worst mental state of your entire life, but dw, that means it's working" and tbh I simply wish someone had been more clear.
