#when I was about 13 or 14 I got hit with the first serve depression episodes #except I didn't know what any of that was so I figured I was just lazy and unhygienic #anyway there was a period where I didn't wash or brush my hair for a good while #but I was just putting it up in a ponytail everyday and acting like everything was fine #well for all my fellow curly haired peeps you know that is a dangerous thing #until finally one day I just took a brush (this was prior to my knowledge about ANYTHING related to proper hair care) #and just separated and parted and brushed until my arms were sore #I have never been good at asking for help (and tbh even when I did attempt to I was just brushed aside) #so this sadly does still happen on occasion but thankfully never as serious #I just remember that being the first time I had to actually like advocate for and help myself
