In fairness to King Kong, if I had a tiny adorable primate in my hand I would also be very resistant to someone taking it away from me.

oh boy another several paragraphs post here we go (text below cut again, also i wrote this in computer so it has auto caps on. this is kinda abt a maybe coining but is mainly just journaling)
So, today I was just kind of thinking about something a bit odd. Everytime I think about my second kintype, which happens to be a monkey as far as I’m aware, it's difficult for me to exactly picture it. I know what it feels like through phantom limbs and other shifts, but this didn’t exactly translate to look. With the information I did have though, I knew that I felt larger hands compared to body size than a good portion of monkeys, a nimble body despite the large portioned limbs, a small face with large ears, and a lot of fluffy fur, meaning that I was most likely from a cold climate.
So, I decided to google all of the cold climate primates and the results weren’t similar to what I experienced at all. The only result I got was the Japanese Snow Monkey, which doesn’t fit the description or feelings of what I know about my kintype. It’s like this kintype is of a creature that is only partially fictional. On one hand, it could very possibly exist in the real world as an adaptation, but on the other hand, it doesn’t. I then went to search to see if I can find anything like this, but so far have come up with nothing.
It feels as though this kintype is an animal that is truly an adapted version of real world monkeys such as spider monkeys. I’m considering coining this as a term so I can organize it in my hesd, but i’m not actually sure about that because 1) I’m unsure if this has been coined for before or not because i may have just missed that post, 2) I don’t actually know how coining works, and 3) the word I want to use for the coining term is from a fake language made by the rest of the system. That being said, I’m considering toying around with a term called “nādutherian”, which I think could be respelled to “naydutherian” for the long a sound. This would come from the fictional word “nāydun”, which means adapt, and the full term would essentially mean “a theriotype that is an adapted version of a real animal”. Again though, I’m not actually sure about this, so please tell me if there’s already a term for this that I missed or if you just happen to like the coining idea. Basically, please rb or comment with your thoughts or knowledge if you want to, and thank you in advance!

whale therian tips and what not
i’ve noticed a lack of whale therian posts, so i decided to just go ahead and try my hand at making my own post about that in hopes that it’ll help someone out, or at the very least be interesting. the rest of this post is under the cut! remember that none of these things are required to be a whale therian, and they are not necessarily exclusive to whales either!
physical tips: general things to get those whale feelings
ocean colored lights to mimic the look of being underwater
weighted blankets to mimic the feeling water pressure
thick coats or hoodies to mimic blubber
for baleen whales: eat foods like shrimp, as they are similar to zooplankton, fish, and crustaceans
toothed whales: eat foods like fish or squid
experiences: personal things that i’ve experienced that you may want to try
go swimming with a few close people, or just go swimming on your own! i recommend trying to learn to swim like a whale as well
try going on longer distance trips with close people (can involve water or not) to mimic the travel part of migration
try listening to whale songs or ocean ambiance
whale documentaries!!!
other: support, connecting with animals, etc.
get a whale tracking bracelet! websites such as club ocean have bracelets that come with a qr code in order to track a real whale! the money from the purchase goes directly towards helping endangered whales as well! they also have other animals such as sea turtles, dolphins, sharks, and polar bears!
donate to organizations that help whales! i know this is not possible for everyone, but i just want to remind people that it is an option!
if possible, go whale watching! this one also would fall under experiences, but i wanted to put it here since it involves connecting with animals
spread the word about endangered whales! if you aren’t able to donate, you can still help out by telling other about endangered whales, bringing more awareness to species such as north atlantic right whales, which only have about 360 remaining individuals due to certain fisheries and past whaling. (sadly, this is my species, so i’d like to ask that if you can do anything to help them, please do so. knowing that my species is so close to disappearing from our planet is really disheartening, and i’m hoping we can stop this tragedy from happening. sorry about this emotion side note, i’m just trying to spread awareness)

every so often I remember that whales molt
I’m not sure why I feel this way, but imo this is the most cursed marine mammal fact I have ever heard

(just wanna preface this by saying that i’m yellow from @rainbowlemonslices and i made this blog so i can ramble about my stuff without clogging up the system blog lol)
ok so as a first post on the side blog, i wanna rant about a possible star wars kintype and hearthome that i might have because i think it might interest people? i dunno but it’s very long so imma put it under the cut
so this whole star wars thing that’s going on all started with the fact that we’re vacationing at disney world, which has a place called something along the lines of star wars land. prior to this trip, i had no idea what star wars land was, and hardly knew anything about star wars. however, my fellow headmates had been talking about it so i decided to ask about it. the moment i was shown what it looked like i was shocked because it looked so familiar, despite the fact that i had never been there before. i did some research on a lot of different things, such as star wars species and planets, and learned that the place where star wars land is set is called “batuu”. everything felt so familiar, but i wasn’t sure if this star wars thing was right.
so, all throughout the day i only had one thing on my mind, and that was batuu. my idea was that going into batuu would help me know if this star wars thing was actually true. it took a little while, but eventually we were able to go in. and the moment i entered i just felt like i was at home. it was so overwhelming that i was just in shock the entire time, and had to have a headmate help me mask. i could’ve sworn that i’d been there before, and it was such an exciting yet slightly terrifying feeling. for the first time since i got on earth, i felt like i was home. the ships, items and and environment just felt so real and so comforting. i felt like i had know that place my entire life. i still am not sure how to put this experience into words.
after we had to leave, i realized what had happened and that hit me like a train. i had been to my home, and i had no idea (and still have no idea) that hen i’ll ever be going back. that was the most homesick i’ve ever felt in my entire life. i was so happy and yet so upset at the same time. it was incredible.
however, this still brings up complications. i found a species that really fit with me, but there very little information on them and i have no clue how or why one of that species would even get to batuu, much less how one would feel like their home is batuu.
i have many more questions that i want to find answers to, and that’s okay. if you’ve decided to read this entire post, the basic general message of this is that sometimes, when you think you know yourself, the world will throw something new at you, and that’s okay. you don’t need to immediately know everything about yourself all the time. not knowing all there is to know about yourself is perfectly okay, and everyone is trying to figure themselves out, so you’re not alone, if that makes any sense.
please lmk if i need to change anything about this, or if you have any questions! i’m still not 100% sure how tumblr works or anything so yeah:)
also it took tumblr several days to actually let this show up in tags so i’m reposting it, this was written a few days ago

i feel hearthomes are a really neglected part of nonhuman identity. its a shame.
the hearthome tag is almost entirely flags. i have no ill will against anyone making those flags. but i do wish folks talked about their hearthomes. it appears like the majority of non/alterhumans have a sense of another place they belong (hearthome or not). so the derth of posts isnt because hearthomes are uncommon, its something external.

I don't believe having spent significant time in a place or currently living there inherently means it's not your hearthome. What makes a place, concept, or time a hearthome to me is the origin of somebody's emotions about it. If you moved to a place because you've felt like you should live there your whole life, because you feel like the universe did something wrong by not putting you there, I think those feelings would make it qualify.
I've met a lot of people in the state I currently live in who felt a pull here their whole lives. They spent decades dreaming of a place they'd never visited or only visited a few times. They knew this was exactly where they were supposed to be. It reminds me a lot of my own experiences.
