Happy Birthday @shandzii !
Hi! Lately I’ve been super into fnaf again and got and lately have been thoroughly enjoying @shandzii ‘s animations and art for it! So, happy birthday! I hope you like this! :D
———————————————————————————————————–
“Wait! Gab! I’m really, really sorry! Please don’t tell-!”
Samuel turned the corner, scissors still in hand, and froze at the sight. Gabriel was wailing into their papa’s pant leg. Papa’s eyes flickered over Gab and his now practically shaved off hair with panic, one hand settled on the crying twin’s shoulder and the other hovering over his head, before he glanced up and caught sight of Samuel.
Specifically the offending object still clasped in his hand.
Papa’s expression shifted from one of worry and concern to one of anger and disappointment at the sight of the eldest twin. Papa’s knuckles came to rest against his hips as he frowned at Samuel. The boy tensed under the glare.
“Oops.”
—————————————
Samuel was settled down on the couch with a grunt. A yellow eye stared sternly into his own. “Wanna spill about why you thought it was a good idea to cut your brother’s hair off?” Samuel stiffened and turned away, fiddling with the hem of his yellow zip up hoodie nervously.
“It-It was just supposed to be a funny prank! I didn’t think Gab would care that much!” Dad’s eye grew furious, and he opened his mouth. Sam gripped the fabric of his jacket in his fist tightly; expecting to be yelled at. Instead, dad stopped, inhaled deeply, and rubbed a hand down his face slowly.
“Christ. The hell do you mean you think your brother wouldn’t care? On top of the fact that you seriously could’ve hurt your brother if you by chance missed his hair and cut his head open or cut him on accident; you broke your brother’s trust. You messed with him while he was taking a nap.” Sam winced. If dad was cursing, then he really, really messed up.
“Think about how you would’ve felt in that situation if you were in your brother’s shoes. Waking up from a nap in a place you’re supposed to feel safe in to find your twin of all people holding like half of your hair in his hand without any prior indication; let alone asking you if it was okay or at least making him aware of what you were gonna do. Would you think it was,” Dad held his hands up to finger quote his exact words, “just a funny prank, or, think you wouldn’t care that much?”
Uriel gave his eldest son time to think on the prompted scenario, and watched Samuel carefully. The kid shifted in his spot, clenching and unclenching his jacket, and eyes flickering back and forth until they watered and turned back to look at him.
“No!” Sam’s voice shook. Uriel tilted his head.
“How would you feel?” Sam sniffled and scrubbed at his eyes.
“Horrible! And mad! Really, really mad!” Uriel nodded, grateful that he was able to get the point through and talk to his kid without raising his voice. Yelling excessively was still a habit that sometimes reared it’s ugly ass back in when he least expected it. He thought back to seeing Gab sniffling on Zazel’s chest. It wasn’t often that either of his boys cried, but he definitely knew he’d seen Gabriel cry a lesser amount of times than he’d seen Samuel. It hurt him deeply to see either of them in tears.
“Did you at least apologize?”
“I-I tried! But Gab wouldn’t even look at me!” Uriel sighed. Zazel had taken their youngest out to buy a hat to his liking and to probably get ice cream. It would be another two days before they got paid. So, unfortunately, Gab would have to live with his free unwanted haircut until they could take him to a barber’s shop to fix the damage. He looked back down to his eldest; who’s eyes were beginning to dry.
“This is for you and your brother to talk out. Don’t push Gabriel to forgive you because you feel bad. Try to find a solution.” Sam gave one last sniffle, his eyes now puffy and red, and nodded at his dad.
“M’kay.” Uriel nodded.
“Good. You’re grounded.”
“For how long?” Uriel didn’t answer immediately.
“Yes.”
—————————————
“Gab?” The door almost hit Sam’s nose with how hard it was slammed shut. The eldest twin stumbled backwards with a shout of surprise. “Gab,” Sam tried again hesitantly.
“What do you want?!”
“I want to say I’m sorry! Can you please open the door?”
“No! Go away! I hate you, you- you jerk!” Sam’s eyes widened, and he scrambled to press his hands against the door.
“What?! No! Please don’t hate me! I-I’m really sorry! It was really really really stupid of me to cut your hair! I’m sorry! Gab!” The door opened abruptly, causing Sam to almost fall into the room since he was leaning his weight on the door. His twin stared at him with angry, watery eyes and clenched, shaking balled up fists.
“Fine! I don’t hate you! But I’m really mad at you! And I’m not forgiving you for this! Now go away!” The door slammed shut again.
From the couch, Zazel glanced over at his partner with worry for their boys, having heard the whole argument since their home was small. Uriel caught his partner’s stare and shrugged.
“This is for them to work out,” he murmured. “Gab will eventually not be mad with Sammy enough to talk to him for longer than a minute. Not that he’ll stop being mad or has to forgive Sammy, but that’s what’ll probably happen. They’re twins. They can figure it out on their own.” Zazel huffed softly, returning to the beanie in his hand. Gabriel had picked out a few star patches that he wanted sown into his beanie to wear to school tomorrow. Zazel hoped that Gabriel wouldn’t be picked on for this. He wasn’t sure if he could trust himself to handle the situation civilly if either of his sons were to be bullied at any point in their lives.
—————————————
Gabriel clenched the straps of his backpack in his hands tightly. If he listened hard enough, he could hear a few kids snickering around him. Thankfully, none of them came to confront the twins. Regardless, Gabriel could feel the burning stares in his back and hear the harsh laughter of their peers around him. He reached up and tugged the beanie on his head down to cover his eyes and most of his ears frustratedly. From next to Gab, Sam’s hand hovered hesitantly over his twin’s shoulder, but he instead moved it to rub the back of his neck sheepishly. Samuel didn’t know if Gabriel would take his attempt at comfort as pity.
———
Gabriel wasn’t even paying attention enough to where they were going that the youngest twin didn’t take note of it as he followed a few steps behind his older twin.
His day had been terrible! In the end it felt like he could hear the laughter and taunts of the kids around him more than the teachers!
Sam’s hand wrapped around Gab’s. He glanced up. Sam was about to push the door to a shop open. A familiar shop. Papa brings him and Sam here a lot to look at and pick pretty patches on things like his hats or his blankets or sweaters. Papa brought him here yesterday and let him pick some patches to be sowed into his beanie for school.
“Why are we here?”
“You really like the moon shaped patches, right? You should pick some out, or whichever patches you want really.” Gabriel blinked.
“But… Dad and Papa aren’t here to buy them for us.” Sam dug into his pocket and pulled out some money. “But that’s your allowance!”
“I know! It’s just… I-I don’t know how else to make this up to you. I’ve been wanting to ask you how I could, but I know you didn’t want to talk to me and I didn’t want to make you any madder.” Gab stared at his twin for a long, silent minute before responding. He could see the guilt in his brother. Gab pursed his lips.
“Okay.”
——————————————
Zazel sunk in relief when he saw his children at the door and pulled them both in for a hug before pulling back. He lifted his hands and signed frantically.
Where on earth have you two been?!
“We went to that shop you usually like to take us to! The one with the patches.”
“Look!” Gab excitedly presented his new patches to his Papa. The man blinked in surprise, but huffed in relief with a soft smile.
That’s wonderful! I’m glad to see you picked some out for yourself! Next time though please tell us before you make such plans by yourselves so we know where you are. Right now, your dad is searching a few blocks down for you two. Let me tell him to come home and I will help you with your new patches after dinner.
The two winced.
“Sorry, we didn’t mean to worry you!”
“Yeah!”
It’s fine, just, again, please ask us before you plan something by yourselves.
“Also,” Sam trailed off. Zazel tilted his head in curiosity. “Can-Can you teach me how to sow please? I want to help Gab,” he glanced to his twin, “if that’s alright with you of course!”
Gabriel hummed in consideration, then smiled and nodded.
Zazel smiled. Looks like the two really were working things out on their own.
——————
It was well into the night already almost eleven o’clock when Sam had finished sewing the first star into Gab’s beanie. His determination helping him fight off the drowsiness and yawning as he sat next to Zazel on the sofa. Gab had already been long since asleep. Gab always went to sleep early and had the easiest time sleeping out of the two of them. A hand gently caressed his hair. Sam looked back up to his Papa.
It’s well past your bedtime, sunshine. We can pick this back up tomorrow.
“But I only did one star! And even then it doesn’t look as good as your’s papa!” Papa smiled at him.
It’s your first time learning how to sow. And so far you’ve completed your first patchwork in about five hours. See it as progress and do not ignore what you’ve accomplished. I’m sure your brother appreciates the effort from you all the same.
“Do you think he hates me?” Zazel blinked.
Why would Gabriel hate you?
“I could’ve hurt him! And he was so embarrassed at school today and it’s all my fault! I would hate me if I was in Gab’s shoes.” Zazel huffed softly and stroked Sam’s hair.
That’s not true and you know it. There is a very big difference between being angry with someone and hating someone. Your brother has every right to be angry with you, but I don’t think he hates you for it because you’re doing your best to show that you feel bad for what you did. That, and understanding why what you did is wrong, is what is important. You’ve apologized and are trying to make it up to him. He sees that. Sam took the advice in carefully.
“I still feel really bad.”
I know, and you should. Even though Gabriel’s hair will grow back, it’s still something you shouldn’t have done in the first place because you know Gabriel didn’t want or appreciate it. But, it’s not the end of the world. Gabriel’s hair is still fixable and this will pass with time. Just make sure you never do something like this again. Okay? Sam nodded silently with a yawn; rubbing his eye. Zazel smiled.
I think it’s time for bed, yes?
“Mhm.” Sam was scooped into Zazel’s arms carefully, the boy pressing his chin into his papa’s shoulder. The beanie still clenched in Sam’s hand.
——————————————
Papa pulled them out of school early to go get Gab’s haircut the next day.
The chairs swiveled to show the finished result. Zazel beamed at the result and gave a thumbs up. Uriel nodded. The hairstylist handed Gabriel back his glasses so that way he could see if he liked the new hairstyle himself.
“Alright, I think it looks good,” Uriel stated. “What about you two? Do you like your haircuts?”
“My head feels a lot lighter!” Sam smiled at his parents.
Gab fiddled with the shortened tips of his own hair for a moment.
“I miss it being longer, but I like this too.” Uriel stared at his youngest for a moment; trying to gage if Gabriel was just telling them that to please them, but found no hint of it. Zazel smiled at the two of them. Sam had wound up wanting a haircut too after the whole ordeal in an attempt to show some kind of support for his brother. By now thankfully the twins were on speaking terms and a decent portion of the tense air between them had cleared up. Gabriel was still mad about the whole ordeal, but he wasn’t shutting Samuel out anymore. Gabriel was just more excited about his hair not looking like a two year old got a hold of scissors and took them to his hair anymore. As the family walked out of the store after paying; Gabriel tugged Sam closer to him by the arm.
“You still have the patches, right?” Sam nodded. “Can you finish sewing the rest of them into my beanie?” Sam’s eyes widened.
“Why? You don’t need it anymore, don’t you?” Sam’s eyebrows furrowed with worry, his gaze flicking up to his brother’s hair. “Did you not like the haircut?”
“I do,” Gabriel snapped. He tensed and lowered his voice. “It’s just… I really like the beanie. So I want you to finish it so I can keep wearing it.”
Samuel beamed at his brother.
“Okay!”
——————————————
“It’s really hard to imagine Gabriel with blond hair,” Bloom noted as they stared at the picture of the two brothers standing next to each other.
Gabriel looked absolutely adorable with those big red framed glasses, Bloom mused to themself.
“The fact that he had to have had blond hair isn’t something that I thought hard enough on.” Sam blinked at his coworker.
“You’ve never seen Moony without his hat?” Bloom shook their head, ‘no.’
“Huh! That’s a shocker! Well, if you ever do see him without one on, his roots are growing again so he has a patch of blond hair on the top of his head!” The door to their apartment slammed open, causing the two coworkers to jump in surprise.
“Sam! You better not have gotten the-!” Gabriel groaned in annoyance as he saw his partner and brother huddled around their childhood photo album.
“Hi Moony!” Sam smiled.
“Of course you’re showing them.” He turned to Bloom and pointed to the photo album in Sam’s hands. “That was one of the first things he pulled out, wasn’t it?”
Bloom nodded. “Yup.”
Gabriel sighed, moving to the kitchen counter to set the bags of groceries in his hand down on the counter.
“Did you get everything okay?” Sam turned to address his twin.
“Yes. It’s your turn to cook tonight.” Sam’s face turned into a grimace at the reminder. “I’m gonna find that old school photo of you with that big ass zit on the center of your forehead.” Sam looked up from the photo album suspiciously.
“What for?”
“To show to Y/N.” Sam gasped in offense; his face tinting to a bright red.
“Don’t you dare!”
————————————
“Can I see your hair under your beanie?” Gabriel blinked and turned to look at Bloom with a quirked eyebrow.
“What for?” His partner shrugged and smiled.
“I’m just curious. Sam said your blond roots were growing back and I want to see it.” Gabriel didn’t answer immediately.
“Fine.” Bloom reached up and gingerly tugged the beanie off of their partner’s head. Gabriel tried not to shudder and tried to hide his blush as Bloom’s warm fingertips accidentally brushed the shell of his ear as they did so.
Bloom stayed silent for a long moment as they stared, admiring the unique, but beautiful blend of colors. Somehow, underneath the illumination of the overhead street light above the two of them, Gabriel looked stunning to Bloom. Gabriel glanced back at his partner.
“What?”
“You’re very pretty, have I told you?” Gabriel couldn’t hide the deep red flush that crossed his face.
“Yeah, sure. Just give me my hat back.” Bloom hummed.
“Hmmm, nope!” Without another word they took off down the sidewalk; leaving their boyfriend in the dust.
“What?! Hey! Come back here with that!” Gabriel began to jog to try and catch Bloom.
“Why can’t I give it back to you tomorrow?” Bloom had placed the hat on their head, sticking their tongue out at Gab.
“Because I need it!”
“Why? Your hair is pretty!”
“You try being compared to a Christmas star knock off as often as I have!”

Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s a little bit late, but it’s too damn cold for Texas so here’s some fluff! :D

The air was cold. Too cold, Aki mused to herself. Wasn’t it supposed to start warming up by now? She exhaled from her mouth and watched the puff of air form a cloud for just a moment before vanishing. She hugged the bags of chocolates closer to her chest hoping to keep them from becoming too cold. Learning and getting the hang of how to make chocolates was a tedious process, thank god she decided to begin preparing them at the beginning of the week with how many failed attempts there were. She could feel her fingers beginning to go numb, she wished she had brought some gloves or something. She looked down at the bags of chocolates tucked into her arms. This would be the first Valentine’s Day she spent with people she actually cared about and loved, wouldn’t it? She smiled softly at the thought. She wasn’t sure what to expect of it, and she was a bit nervous, but knowing her friends; everything would go well.
“Aki-San!”
“Aki-nee-chan!” She stopped and turned around to see Rua and Ruka jogging towards her.
“Hello, Rua, Ruka,” she greeted. The twins were bundled up nice and warm with matching light blue and pale pink winter coats respectively along with boots, pants, and gloves. Rua wore a beanie which hid his ponytail while Ruka donned a pair of fluffy earmuffs.
“Are you going to Poppo Time too?” Rua bounced in place excitedly.
“Yes, I am.”
“Cool!” Aki realized, seeing as they were already here she might as well. She fished through the pile of bags clutched to her chest until she found Rua and Ruka’s bags of chocolate.
“Here,” she said. She handed the appropriately labeled bags to each twin. They both beamed at her and wrapped their arms around her sides as best as they could.
“Thank you,” they said simultaneously. Aki smiled and wrapped an arm around both of them as best as she could with the pile of bags in one hand.
“Of course.” The twins smiled up at her before presenting bags of their own to her. She smiled and thanked them in return. The rest of the walk to Poppo Time was filled with talk of how their days went, things they had planned for the weekend such as going out with Bob, Tenpei, and Patty, and other mundane things. Once they arrived at Poppo Time, Rua took a running start and practically slammed the doors open much to Ruka’s chagrin.
“Hey guys!”
“Yo! What’s up Rua?!” She heard Crow call back just as enthusiastically. Rua had already run down the ramp and was talking with Crow and Bruno in the garage when Aki and Ruka entered the door.
“Hi,” Ruka greeted as she walked down the ramp. Aki lingered for a moment to close the door.
“Hey, Ruka, Aki!” Crow greeted.
“Hi!” Bruno greeted from the entrance of the living room.
“Hello,” Aki responded. She walked down the stairs and joined the lot of people in the garage. Rua ran and peered around Yusei’s duel runner, looking disappointed at the absence of the mechanic.
“Huh? Where’s Yusei and Jack,” Rua asked. Meanwhile, Ruka was giving both her and her brother’s bags of chocolates to Crow and Bruno. Aki doing the same a moment later.
“Thanks you guys! Jack went to spend the day with Carly, so, who knows when he’ll come back,” Crow explained. “Hm, I’m not sure where Yusei went though. I just got back from making deliveries and he wasn’t here.”
“Yusei went to go pick up some parts for some of the computers he’s working on fixing.” Bruno clarified, then turned to Aki and Ruka. “Thank you,” he said as he accepted the bags of chocolate. Rua pouted and groaned.
“Aw!” Crow chuckled and rubbed Rua’s head.
“It’s all good though, they’ll probably be back soon. In the meanwhile, who wants some hot chocolate?! Because it’s damn cold outside!”
“Me!” The twins cried simultaneously while raising their hands excitedly. Aki chuckled at their antics.
“I’ll take some as well if you don’t mind. Thanks Crow.”
“Can I have some too?” Bruno asked sheepishly.
“Heck yeah you can! Go get some blankets and take off your coats!” Crow instructed.
“Yes sir!” Rua mock saluted with a grin on his face. Ruka smiled and chuckled at her brother’s actions. The four of them walked to the living area and shedded their heavy winter coats, gloves, and head accessories before plopping down on the couch, Rua comfortably nestling into Aki’s right side while Bruno took a seat to Aki’s left after he threw some blankets over them all. The room was filled with a blissfully comfortable silence save for Rua gently asking Ruka if she was warm enough or would want more of the blanket, only to be met with gentle assurances that she was fine. Aki hummed contently and snuggled further into the couch, closing her eyes. She heard the twins giggle softly and felt Rua bury himself into Aki’s side. Aki smiled gingerly and began stroking the boy’s hair gently. At some point Bruno began to talk about projects and the progress of their engine program that Yusei and him made, Aki hummed in acknowledgement at the appropriate times and praised their work when needed. Crow came back in the room carrying a tray with five steaming cups of hot chocolate resting atop it. Crow distributed the cups to each person before demanding Bruno to scooch over so he could sit too. Bruno tried his best to not disturb Aki and the twins with his awkward shuffling. At that point, Crow began talking about how his deliveries went, how some people were just plain rude assholes to him, and any other occurrences that happened while running his deliveries. Eventually he began asking the twins and Aki about how school was going for all of them. At some point, they all heard the garage door open and close quite loudly.
“Hi everyone! Huh? Where is everyone?” That was Carly’s voice. They also heard Jack harumph.
“Where the hell are you Crow?!”
“In the living room!” The orange headed man shouted back. It wasn’t long before Jack and Carly entered the living room.
“Hey Jack, where have you guys been all day? Hi Carly!” Jack hmphed and claimed it was none of Crow’s business.
“We went on a date at the pier!” Carly stated at the same time. Jack turned to look at Carly, his eyes squinting at her. A bead of sweat rolled down Carly’s face as she sheepishly turned to face her lover.
“Hehe, sorry,” she apologized meekly. Jack sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. The blonde then turned and caught sight of their guests.
“I’ll be right back, just a moment.” Jack stomped off, earning quizzical glances from Crow and Carly. The reporter sheepishly turned to face the lot on the couch.
“So, uh,” she chuckled awkwardly. “How’s life?” They all stared at her blankly and shrugged. Jack entered back in the room with a plastic bag.
“Here,” he huffed, shoving a chocolate bar in Aki’s hands. “You should be grateful that I of all people got you lot anything.” He shoved two more chocolate bars into each of the twins’s hands. They all chuckled and smiled at the blonde.
“Thanks Jack!” Rua smiled at him. Ruka thanked Jack as well.
“Thank you,” Aki said. Oddly enough, the man seemed a tad surprised but huffed.
“You should be grateful.” Aki softly asked Ruka to reach for the pile of bags on the small table behind her. Rua reached forward to the coffee table and retrieved Jack’s bags of chocolates while Aki did the same. Three bags of chocolates were presented to Jack.
“Happy Valentine’s Day,” Aki smiled. Jack hmphed and smiled, taking the three bags.
“Offerings worthy of a king, I shall enjoy these.” The three chuckled at their older friend. Crow paused for a moment, and then his eyes widened.
“Oh crap, that’s right!” Crow pressed his hand against Bruno’s face to brace himself as he stood and ran to the kitchen, calling out an apology to the now disheveled Bruno. Jack puffed air through his nose and went to get a blanket for him and Carly to share from his room. Crow came back in the room with three goodie bags and gave one to Rua, Ruka, and Aki. “Sorry, I completely forgot about them,” he said, rubbing the back of his neck with a sheepish grin. They waved off the apology and said it was fine.
“Wait, aren’t you usually supposed to wait until White Day to give gifts back?” Ruka asked. Jack and Crow both looked at each other and then at Ruka, shrugging.
“We know about White Day, but that wasn’t a holiday Martha celebrated all that often,” Crow explained. “So, we never had much of a reason to follow that tradition.”
“Oh,” was Ruka’s simple reply. She then shrugged. After a moment of comfortable silence Bruno stood and excused himself to the bathroom. Then, not too long after Bruno left, the door opened but closed much harder than when Jack and Carly arrived, as if the door was kicked closed.
“Yusei! We’re in the living room!” Crow shouted.
“Okay,” Yusei replied, then grunted with an accompanying sound of metal clinking together. Soon enough, the leader of the Signers entered the living room and blinked at the sight of everyone gathered on the couches.
“Hiya,” Carly greeted with a wave. Yusei waved back and greeted his friends.
“Your chocolates are right there,” Ruka explained as she grabbed Aki’s remaining chocolate bag to Yusei and placed it next to their’s. Yusei froze and stared at the chocolates, and then smacked his palm over his forehead.
“I’m so sorry, I entirely forgot today was Valentine’s Day,” he explained.
“What?!” Crow exclaimed. “But I reminded you at the beginning of this week!” Yusei sighed.
“You did, but I got so swept up in my side projects that I forgot about it.”
“It’s fine,” Aki assured. “Don’t beat youself up over it.” The twins nodded in agreement with her. Yusei sighed and nodded in thanks, awkwardly looking around for where to sit. Crow pat the spot where Bruno had been sitting, barely suppressing an impish grin behind a pleasant smile. Yusei silently took the offer. Aki picked up the blanket, allowing him to sit before placing the blanket gingerly over him.
“Thanks,” Yusei said as he tucked himself further into the blanket. After Yusei settled in and got comfortable, Bruno came back in the room.
“Aw,” the man deflated. “My spot.”
“I can get up and-“
“No,” Bruno shook his head ‘no.’ “It’s fine.” He grabbed a pillow and sat on the remaining one person sofa in the room.
“So,” Crow piped up after a minute. “Do you guys want to watch a movie or something?”
“Your obsession with watching movies is atrocious,” Jack scoffed.
“Aw,” Cary whined. “I was kind of wanting to watch one.” Jack paused and... sheepishly turned away from his friends, the shell of his ear tinged a dark red. Crow snickered and started laughing.
“I’m taking that as a yes!”
——————
Were these the kinds of moments she had been missing out on? She couldn’t remember ever feeling this warm and fuzzy. Buried under blankets, being surrounded by her new family, and enjoying such mundane activities. She glanced over at the loveseat where Carly had dozed off and cuddled into Jack’s chest who had his arm wrapped around her. Then to Bruno who was still watching the boring romance movie, that she couldn’t remember the name of, along with Crow, both looking like they were about to fall asleep. Then to Rua, who was still buried into Aki’s side, but cuddling Ruka, both of them had fallen asleep sometime ago themselves. She sighed contently and stroked Rua’s hair once, a smile gracing her lips.
“Are you still awake,” came the soft whisper from her left. She looked over to Yusei and nodded silently. “Sorry, I wasn’t sure if you were or not. Is something on your mind?” She smiled again.
“Nothing bad, I suppose I’m just enjoying how nice this is.” Yusei waited until she continued. “It’s just, I haven’t experienced this before. My parents were never particularly the kind to spend family time together and neither was anyone at the Arcadia Movement. So, this is new to me,” she explained. Yusei smiled at her.
“I’m glad,” he responded softly. The two fell back into a comfortable silence, nothing else needing to be said. Aki eventually dozed off herself after failing to pay attention to the movie.
————————
“Well! It’s going to be dark soon, and we don’t want to be out after dark, so, we’ll see you guys later,” Rua explained, Ruka nodding in agreement. The twins had already begun pulling on their coats and accessories.
“Okay, well, be safe on the way home you two! And stay warm!” Crow called after them as they walked away from Poppo Time. Crow shivered and closed the door. Jack had already gotten up and left to go take Carly back to her apartment. Bruno had already retired to the sofa down in the garage for now. Crow walked back up to the living room and snickered. Yup, the remaining two were still cuddled up like lovebirds, he thought to himself as the view of a sleeping Yusei now leaning his back on the arm of the sofa with a pillow underneath him and an arm wrapped around Aki’s shoulders. The psychic herself was sound asleep on top of him. The two being covered by at least three blankets. Oh well, not his business.
“Unbelievable,” Jack scoffed softly from behind him. Crow nearly jumped out of his skin and barely restrained himself from smacking his older brother upside the head. “This is some of the sappiest shit I’ve ever seen.”
“You already know Martha would’ve been taking pictures already,” Crow mused. Jack nodded in agreement and the two walked away.
——————
Aki opened the door to Poppo Time, shivered, and nearly slammed it back shut. It got so much colder! Of course it would get even colder after the sun went down, she reasoned. She then cursed herself for not bringing a heavier winter coat. She sighed and prepared herself to brave the cold until she felt a hand land gently on her shoulder. She turned around and found Yusei behind her with a thick and fluffy brown bommer jacket.
“Here,” he held the jacket up to her. “The weather channel had said that it would be in the thirties around nine.”
“Are you sure?” She hesitantly held a hand out. He gently pushed the jacket into her hands.
“Yeah, and since it’s already dark out I’ll go ahead and walk you to the train station.” She accepted the jacket gratefully and pulled it on before zipping it up. She silently noted about how it actually kind of fit her.
“Wait, walk?” She questioned. He nodded.
“The roads are closed because it’s too icy to drive right now.”
“Oh. Well, you don’t need to, I’ll be fine. It’s too cold and I don’t want you to get sick,” she explained as he pulled a large navy colored winter coat on anyway.
“And I don’t want you to be out there by yourself,” he countered. She looked in his eyes and sighed. She recognized that look. She knew he was going to accompany her no matter how much she protested.
“Okay,” she relented. Yusei finished zipping his coat closed before opening the door and holding it open for her.
“I’ll be back, I’m going to walk Aki to the train station!” He called out as an afterthought before closing the door. Crow and Jack peaked their heads out from around the corner of the kitchen, and then looked at each other incredulously.
“Wasn’t that his old favorite jacket?” Jack nodded at the younger man.
“It is,” the blonde confirmed.
————————
“So, where are your parents?” Aki hummed and glanced away.
“They’re out of the country. Dad had some kind of political event to go to in the United States, and mom went with him. Last I heard from them earlier today they were in Texas at some kind of river walk. They were celebrating their wedding anniversary there.” Yusei sighed. He would never fail to be miffed about how her own parents could just leave her alone like this even after what they went through trying to get her back, same with Rua and Ruka’s parents. Aki shrugged. “It’s not a big deal though, I mean, it’s not like I’m not used to it.” He winced.
“That doesn’t mean you should have to be used to it,” he stated bluntly. Any argument she was going to come say after wilted away with a sigh.
“Well, at least they’re trying more than they used to,” she supplied. “Mom wants me to go with her to Germany to meet some of her family during the summer of next year. She extended the invitation to you guys as well if you want to come.” Yusei hummed in consideration. He’d never been outside of Neo Domino or Satellite before. It sounds like it would be an interesting experience. Perhaps some issues concerning a language barrier, but, he’s sure that maybe that could be worked out somehow. The trip would also take place after the WRGP as well, so, it wasn’t as though he had any major plans in the foreseeable future after that.
“I’ll think about it, but I’ll go ahead and tell Jack and Crow about it and see what they think.” She hummed in acknowledgement. Eventually, the lights surrounding the train station came into view, and the two walked steadily towards it.
—————————
Yusei leaned his head against the cement pillar while Aki requested and paid for her ticket. He briefly turned and glanced at the girl, and he couldn’t help but remember waking up after the movie. After the initial panic of, “When did we even fall asleep,” and, “Holy crap Aki was sleeping on top of him,” faded, he found himself admiring how content and peaceful she looked. It was the most relaxed he had ever seen her, he thinks. And he couldn’t stop thinking about that smile on her face from before she fell asleep. She looked so happy and wistful, like a fairy, he thought. Of course, a small part of his part broke when she explained that she had never experienced that simple joy of being around people who genuinely cared about him. He knows that if he had never been able to experience those moments with Jack, Crow, and all of his other friends, he would not have been able to stay completely sane. Which is why he admires her strength. Sure, she was definitely affected by Divine and the way he manipulated her and hurt her, but, she had the mental fortitude to be able to pull herself back up onto her own two feet and evaluate herself. She was still in the process of doing that even now, but she was much better off than in the beginning. Back when Yusei had known that she couldn’t stand up by herself without any support, so he had allowed himself to be her crutch for a time. It took a long time, unlearning any old habits instilled into her, and breaking out of the mental cycle that had let her fall so low, but with each day that passed, he was able to see her begin to lean on him less and less, which made him glad that she was growing by herself. To see that smile, to see the fruits of her own hard work, it filled him with hope for some reason. It was beautiful, and awe inspiring. To see who she was blooming into, a blend of her experiences and who she used to be, it was beautiful. He can’t put it into words how and what she makes him truly feel, but, he knows that the answer isn’t anything bad, and it isn’t an answer he’s scared of finding out.
“Yusei?” He jumped as he heard her from right beside him. He had been so wrapped up in his thoughts that he hadn’t noticed her return. “Are you feeling alright? Your face is all red.” Without hesitation, she removed her hands from the pockets of his jacket and gingerly placed them on his face and forehead. He froze in shock. “You’re not getting sick are you? Your face is red and you’re feeling warm,” she explained her concerns. She removed the hand on his forehead and placed it on his other cheek, rubbing just underneath his eye where his criminal marker was soothingly. When was the last time someone touched him so tenderly? Those kind of touches were usually associated sensations to Martha and another set of familiar yet unfamiliar hands that he vaguely remembered; his birth mother’s hands probably, he would realize later.
“I-I’m fine,” he quickly got out after forcing himself to not get lost in his thoughts again. Since when did he stutter? He reached up and held her wrists delicately, debating with himself about whether or not to pry her hands off. Aki’s hands were warm, but the slight chill of having them out in the open air briefly still lingered.
“Are you sure?” He nodded.
“Yeah,” he confirmed. She gently pried her hands from his grasp, but instead of dropping them back down to her sides right away, she held his hands and squeezed them briefly before doing so. He found himself yearning for the warmth of her hands almost as soon as she let go, but didn’t show it. He dropped his hands back to his sides as well. After a lingering awkward silence, Aki gently fiddled with the zipper of his jacket.
“Um, do you want this back later or now?” He blinked at her and paused, considering his answer.
“You can keep it,” he said instead. She looked up at him in surprise.
“Huh?”
“You can keep it,” he reiterated. “It’s a jacket that I don’t really use anymore,” he lied. Well, it was technically a half lie. It was one of his favorite jackets actually, but, it was true that he tended to favorite his blue jacket nowadays than any other jacket he had. Besides, he was by now starting to grow out of it, he noted as he realized just how well the jacket suited her.
“Are- Are you sure?” He nodded silently. At that moment, the two turned their heads and stared at the train as it pulled into the station. “Ah,” she said somewhat disappointedly.
“That’s your train, right?” She nodded. He stood from his placement against the pillar. “Well,” he sighed disappointedly. “You should probably go ahead and go, you wouldn’t want to miss it.” She sighed and began her treck to the train’s entrance before she paused about half way. He stared at her, wondering if she had forgotten something, but was taken by surprise when she turned around and ran at him. She jumped and wrapped her arms around his shoulders, pulling him into a hug. He found himself frozen in stupor once more.
“Thanks, for everything,” she said. “Be careful on your way home okay?” After getting over his shock, he found himself wrapping his arms around her as well.
“Yeah, I will. Be sure to let me know when you make it home safely.” She nodded into his shoulder.
“I will, same goes to you too though.”
“Yeah.” He squeezed her once more before they detached from each other. When her face was in his vision, he felt like he was blown away when he realized she was smiling at him. Not at something else, not at anyone else, just him. That precious smile was just for him this time. He hadn’t even realized he had been holding his breath until the train’s doors closed. He lowered his hand after the two had stopped waving at each other and the train had slithered out of view into the tunnel. He almost didn’t realize that he had already begun walking home until the only lights that remained were the street lamps above him. A bit numbly, he reached into his pocket and felt the plastic of the bag of chocolates that Aki made for him. He pulled the string tying the bag closed until it unraveled. Then, he popped one of the small chocolates into his mouth, and smiled as the warm caramel coated his tongue. Well, he now had an inkling of what he was feeling. But, still, it was a tango he’d rather not pursue until the WRGP and Illiaster were no longer a threat, he noted with a sigh. So, he’d wait, but that didn’t mean he’d be yearning for the day he didn’t have to wait anymore.

BONUS:
Rua grinned impishly as he stared at the picture. He clicked the ‘send’ button on the messaging app. Ruka sighed from beside him on the couch.
“You know Yusei-san and Aki-san will be livid if they find out about this right?” Rua resisted cackling, and shrugged.
“Oh well,” he said as he deleted the picture from his phone. Rua’s phone chimed with a message. The boy opened the app and looked at Jack and Crow’s responses.
“Rua, you’re a genius,” was Crow’s response.
“If we die by Yusei’s hands for this Carly knows it’s your fault.” Jack typed a few seconds later. Rua scrolled back up to the picture he sent just a few moments ago of a selfie Rua took with half of his face in the corner grinning mischeviously with the rest of the picture centering on a sleeping Yusei with his arm wrapped around a sleeping Aki who’s face was not visible, but half buried in his shoulder.

So, it’s been actual years since I’ve actually posted something on this account let alone actually posting my writing on this account, but this case was too good to pass up. I forgot how posting works, and I’m on mobile, so, sorry if it comes out looking weird. @gentrychild

“Midoriya,” Aizawa’s turned the toy box in his hands, inspecting the brightly pink colored box for a price label or tag. “How exactly did you purchase all of this?” He held up the box for the teen to see. The greenette in question looked up from the worksheet of basic addition questions that Aizawa had printed out for Eri to work on, the girl being comfortably situated into his side, staring intently at the worksheet lying innocently on the coffee table. “With money?” The teen raised an eyebrow at the question. Aizawa facepalmed at the mildly sarcastic answer, until a thought occurred to him. “Midoriya, not to be blunt, but, are you rich?” The teen hesitated, considering his answer, and nodded a moment later. Aizawa and his student stayed in a staring contest in silence like that before nodding at each other. At that moment, Izuku felt a tug on the sleeve of his shirt. He turned his attention back towards Eri as Aizawa carefully lowered the Ganriki figurine box down and placed it next to the floor, alongside the ten or so other boxes of expensive, name-brand toys. After that, he retrieved his sleeping bag and crawled into it, hoping to get another hour-long nap or so in before he had to patrol for the night. “Okay, so, remember the trick I taught you, the one about using your fingers?” Eri nodded silently, holding her small hands up in front of her scrunched up face as she tried to remember how he showed her. “Do you want me to go over it with you again?” “Yes please!” Aizawa observed the pair for a moment more, watching and listening as Eri cheered as she solved the problem, Izuku giving her positive reinforcement. “Can we play with the toys now?” Izuku smiled at her and raised his hand slowly, making sure to let her see his hand and silently asking for permission, to which Eri nodded. He raised his hand and pat her head. “Why don’t we get through this last problem so we don’t have to worry about homework later, does that sound alright with you?” Eri nodded and smiled at him. “Okay!” Aizawa wound up dozing off once Izuku and Eri busted open two of the toy boxes.
Ochaco winced as her stomach growled, the chatter between Shouto and Tenya cutting short as they heard the noise despite the loudness of the cafeteria. “Uraraka-kun, are you alright?” The girl nodded, putting on a bright smile to hopefully keep them from questioning her too much about her eating habits. “I’m as good as I can get! I feel great!” Tenya continued to stare at her, a look of worry coming across his face. Shouto though, was staring off at something in the distance. What was he looking at? She was startled out of her musing by the sound of the chair next to her groaning as it scraped against the floor. She looked over and smiled as Izuku plopped himself into the seat next to her, carrying not one, but two bento boxes. He placed the second one in the center of the table. “Sorry I’m late, I forgot that my mom sent extras for me to bring and had to get it from my locker. Feel free to take some!” He smiled kindly at the table. Tenya nodding and gently pushing the box in Ochaco’s direction. Tenya and her locked in a silent debate as Shouto and Izuku made small talk about the day’s upcoming hero training. Ochaco sighed as she lost the battle and gratefully took the bento box. She glanced at Izuku as he held out an extra pair of chopsticks for her; she sighed and took them. “Thank you,” she mumbled, to which she received a silent, but blindingly bright smile. As the group returned to their usual chatter, Ochaco couldn’t help but ask, “Deku-kun, how does your mom almost always have leftovers? It’s expensive to buy ingredients for homemade food, isn’t it?” Izuku swallowed his food, and shrugged. “Mom has always loved cooking, so, that’s what she does. Plus, she’s never exactly been too keen on eating fast food a lot.” Ochaco accepted the answer, for now, with a nod. However, Ochaco knew an aversion to a question when she spotted one.
Midoriya Inko smiled warmly and greeted her son’s friends with a small wave as she closed the main entrance door to class 1-A’s form building. Ochaco and Tenya greeted her back enthusiastically, while Shouto gave the kind woman a small smile and a polite wave in return. Shouta greeted the woman with a nod, which was politely returned with a nod of her own, and quickly got to quieting the class down. “So,” Inko began. “From what I understood to be the gist of this situation, you all wanted my help in throwing a surprise birthday party for Izuku, correct?” “Yes,” Tenya affirmed with a nod. “Is Izuku in the building?” Ochaco shook her head. “Nope, we convinced All Might to take him out for the day and distract him, but he said that he would help us with this.” Inko chuckled softly and smiled. “Alright, that sounds perfect! We shouldn’t waste anymore time, let’s start planning!” The class cheered to various degrees before they divided into groups that would handle different tasks. Momo, Shouto, Ochaco, and Mezo gathered around Inko to talk about decorations for the day of the event. “Now that we have the decorations all chosen, I’ll start creating them,” said Momo. Inko stared at the girl in confusion for a moment before speaking. “Oh, no, you don’t need to do that! I can just purchase these and have them delivered.” The group stared at the woman in silence. “But, considering the how many of these decorations we’ll need each will add up to be quite expensive, right?” Mezo asked. Inko smiled warmly at the group. “It’s fine, really! They will be expensive, but still affordable.” “...But, Midoriya-san,” Ochaco spoke. “The total cost of the decorations will be roughly ¥18, 987.” Inko blinked confusedly at the astounded looks across the children’s faces. “As I said, perfectly affordable.” ‘Ah,’ the group collectively thought as they came to a realization about their friend that they hadn’t picked up on before.
Tenya fanned Ochaco’s face who managed to keep her composure until Midoriya Inko left, and then promptly collapsed at the realization that another one of her best friends was rich, the one she least expected. Tenya then promptly moved them to be seated on one of the couches, Momo creating a small motorized fan for Tenya to use. “So,” Tenya spoke softly to Shouto, who sat across from him. “Midoriya-kun is actually rich.” Shouto merely nodded at his friend. “It makes sense,” Shouto realized. “He had to get money for his entire room somewhere.” Tenya nodded in agreement. “I am ashamed of myself for not realizing this sooner,” he said a minute later. Shouto reached over and pat his shoulder. “He was very subtle about it, I think this just about blindsided everyone, except maybe Aizawa-sensei.” “I know I was,” Ochaco suddenly spoke up. The two glanced down at her. “How long have you been awake, Uraraka-kun?” “Since you two started talking.” She made no move to get up. At that moment, the entrance doors clicked open softly, and in walked Izuku. He quickly caught sight of his friends on the couch. “Ah! What happened to Uraraka-san?!” The three of them just stared at him blankly. The boy began sweating as he glanced back at them. “What?”
“Wait, so, where is all of this money coming from anyway?” Ochaco inquired later. “My father, I think,” he said as he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. ‘You think?’ His friends collectively questioned with blank faces.
From inside of a cell, locked away deep in Tautarus, a certain infamous two century old fiend sneezed, spittle splatting across the surface inside of his respirator much to his dismay. The man verbally groaned in despair before a medic came in, cleaning the respirator.

A Warm Embrace of the Heart by yugen-works-118
A/N: HEH HEH HEH. SO, I DID A THING. And I just wanted to write some inukag feels with papa higurashi in it, there's honestly not enough of papa higurashi fanfics in my opinion. XD Anyway, Inuyasha belongs to Rumiko Takahashi, but the plot belongs to me. :) ------------------------------------------------ Inuyasha's POV ------------------------------------------------ "Where is that woman?!" Miroku sipped his tea peacefully, yet with an annoyed aura. "Inuyasha, calm down, Kagome probably had some business to attend to at home," Sango spoke up. "Yeah," Shippo piped up as he jumped onto Sango's shoulder. "She seemed different though, as if she was in a rush or something." "Yes, I'm honestly kind of concerned," Sango said after a while. "Maybe you should give her some time before going after her Inuyasha," Miroku pointed out. I groaned in annoyance, I hated it when these kind of situations occurred. "Keh! Fine, an hour at the most then," I snapped. With that I jumped up into the trees and sprinted towards the well. I arrived and sat there, waiting anxiously for the hour to pass by. Time was seeming to take forever to pass by, I groaned in annoyance and frustration and leaped into the well. No sooner than after I blinked, I found myself back at the bottom of the well, but when I looked up the sky it was covered by the familiar oak wood brown that was the shrine covering the well. I leapt up and out of the well and pushed open the sliding door. I looked around the area surrounding the shrine, only much to my surprise, to find no activity occurring that and the fact that I could smell that no one was here. I frowned in concern and walked over to their house. I reached the side of the house that Kagome's room was in; I then leapt up onto the ledge of her window. As I expected, no one was there. I tried pulling her window open only to find it locked.    "Locked? Damn, there must be something going on." She never locks that window because she knows that I can come at any time and her family all welcome  and accept me here. I frowned and jumped down from the ledge. I then started walking over to the front door to find that unlocked. Is someone home or not? I pushed the door open and walked in. The house seemed... vacant, of any life for that matter. Wait a minute, someone is here; I sniffed the air and looked towards the stairs. Kagome's mother then walked downstairs and smiled when she saw me.    "Oh! Hello Inuyasha, what brings you here? I'm sorry, I thought I heard something from Kagome's room so I went to see what it was." She reached the bottom of the stairs and walked over to me. "Would you like something to eat?" I nodded silently and she chuckled softly to herself. "Go ahead and sit down at the table, I'll go prepare some ramen for you." I nodded again.    "Thank you." I went and sat at the 'dining room' table, at least that's what Kagome called it, and waited patiently. A few minutes later, Kagome's mother came into the room with a tray in her hands. She set the tray down and took the bowl of ramen off of it and carefully placed it in front of me. I learned to pick up this habit before eating  from Kagome, 'thanking for the meal' is what she called it, at first the crazy ol' coot known as her grandfather got after me for not doing it. Then later on Kagome explained to me that it was a tradition from their culture, and since her family apparently comes from a long line of priests and priestesses, her grandfather was strict about that. I had learned to pick up that habit as a form of thanks and respect for everything that they've done for me, I had come to understand that everyone from our time are not the only ones who need her. Her family needs her, her other friends, heck the woman even has a full life ahead of her! And-    "So, Inuyasha, what brings you here?" Mrs. Higurashi looked up at me patiently.    "W-Well, I was wondering whether you knew where everyone was, Kagome left in a hurry and everything and everyone else was concerned for her. So I came to see what was wrong," I explained. Kagome's mother sighed and smiled.    "I'm glad that Kagome has you and all of her other friends back in your time looking out for her, I'm not trying to pressure guilt onto you, but I worry a lot about Kagome. After all, you can honestly never say 'you know what life throws at you'. I that she wants to do this, and I won't stop her, and neither am I upset about it. She's just doing what she thinks is right, and I'm proud of her for that, but I honestly can't help but worry about how she is doing." I avoided her gaze, not wanting to face the truth of a mother's words, I didn't have one to listen to for most of my life as of right now. I loved my mother dearly, and I know how worried she could get when I got hurt or sick as a kid. "Please, don't doubt that I trust you, I know that you care about Kagome almost as deeply as we do, and I know you're a good person at heart. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said any of that. I don't know I've had a lot on my mind, and I honestly didn't know what to do," I gasped in surprise as tears started trickling down her face. "I-It's just that, I lost my husband when Kagome was a child, and today is the anniversary of his death. Father and I always dread this day, because then Kagome becomes upset, and she always blames herself for her father's death," she continued on, sobbing. I sat there awkwardly, not really knowing what to do. I reached around the table and carefully wrapping my arms around Kagome's mother.    "I-I'm sorry, I didn't know..."    "It's okay, I'm sorry as well, I guess I was just venting because of all of this stress. Kagome's at the cemetery, father is out at the store buying groceries with Sota." I nodded silently and let go of Mrs. Higurashi. She smiled at me and wiped her eyes.    "Thank you, Inuyasha, for listening and all. I really appreciate it. Please, all I beg for is that you take care of Kagome, she's going to need some comforting more than she ever has before. I couldn't do very much myself to help her," she explained. I nodded again and thanked her for the information.    "Kagome will be okay, I'll make sure of that myself." With that I left the house and jumped onto a nearby rooftop and kept jumping, looking for a cemetery. Kagome said that a cemetery was a place where people were buried with grave stones. I jumped around until I finally found the place that they had been talking about. I leapt down into the entrance of the place and looked around until I finally picked up Kagome's scent. I started walking towards the area where her scent was radiating from. After a bit of walking, I finally spotted the familiar head of raven colored hair. I walked over to her carefully and silently as to not alarm her.    "I know you're there Inuyasha, I sensed your presence the moment you entered the cemetery." I flinched at how... distant her voice was. I gulped nervously, I had no idea how she'd react or what she'd do, I've never seen her act like this.    "A-Are you okay Kagome?" She sighed and stood up, I unconsciously backed up a bit. I then noticed that her attire consisted of a black dress. She looked at me and smiled reassuringly, yet at the same time, that smile felt anything but reassuring, and she knows that.    "Yeah, I'm perfectly fine," she lied. I looked at her face carefully and felt my heart break a little, she clearly has been crying a lot. "Are you ready to go back? I'll go with you, but, I'm g-going to n-need some time t-to change." Her voice cracked. I looked at her eyes, she had them closed and her hand was outstretched towards me. It was clear as day though, Kagome was on the verge of breaking down in tears, I could faintly smell the saltiness gathering behind her eyelids and her voice was cracking really bad too. Instead of answering her, I walked over to her and hugged her. I looked back at the grave lying innocently behind her.    "Here lies Daichi Higurashi, a loving father, son, husband, son-in-law, and father of two. May his heart Rest In Peace," was what the grave stone read in neat cursive writing. I noticed that there was something else written on the bottom left corner, what it read was what completely made me realize how hard it has been for Kagome, even though I have no idea what really happened.    "Daddy, I miss you a lot. I'm so sorry daddy." It took me a while to get out of my stupor, only to realize that Kagome really was having a breakdown, she was sobbing and heaving, screaming that she was sorry, something about if she hadn't gotten sick. I knelt down as she suddenly dropped to the ground, catching her in just the nick of time.    "Kagome! Hey, Kagome! Look at me, are you okay?! Calm down, everything will be alright." I picked her up carefully in my arms and leapt back onto the rooftop to take her back to her home. It didn't take long at all before I arrived, I jumped onto the ledge of Kagome's window; thankfully it was unlocked now, so I set her down carefully on the bed. I turned around and closed the window and lied down next to her and held her close in my arms. My mother used to do this to me when I mourned over my father's death as a child, I hope this helps Kagome a bit.    "Shh, calm down, it'll be okay. You're home now, everything is okay." I kept mumbling words that I thought would help to comfort and calm her down. Eventually, her sobs silenced and the flooding trail of tears had calmed to be a few tears. "Hey, go ahead and take a nap, okay?" I then noticed how cold her skin was. "How long have you been out there woman?! You're gonna get sick," I sighed in mild irritation, but that soon faded as I looked at her. "Here, I'll go get something warm for you to drink." I was turning to leave and walk downstairs when something grasped my wrist. I looked back to see Kagome looking up at me.    "I-I'm sorry Inuyasha, I didn't mean to make you and everyone else worry about me." I turned to fully face her and knelt down beside the bed.    "Keh, it's only natural that we worry about you, you're our friend. So don't be going around and getting yourself sick like that, okay?" She smiled at me and wrapped her arms around my shoulders and rested her head against my neck. I noticed my face started heating up slightly.    "Thanks a lot, Inuyasha, I really needed to hear that." I sighed and wrapped my arms around her shoulders as well carefully and smiled.    "No problem, Kagome. You know we're always here if you need us." She hummed in acknowledgement.    "Yeah, thanks." We sat there like that for a few moments in blissful silence. "Hey, Inuyasha?"    "Hmm?"    "C-Can I lay down with you?" I looked at her curiously.    "How come?"    "Because, I don't think it's going to be the same as blankets," she nuzzled her face into my chest, "you're just too warm." I laughed lightly and crawled onto the bed with my back towards the wall, and facing her to look at me. We lied there in silence for a moment, but I just wanted to know what she had meant back then before I brought her back here.    "So, what you were saying earlier, something about 'if you hadn't gotten sick' or something like that? Do you want to talk about it? If you don't, that's understandable to you, it seems like a tough subject. She sighed and nuzzled her head into my chest.    "Yeah, sure, I've been looking for a way to get if off of my head anyway."    "So," I started awkwardly. "Where do you want to start?" She hummed in thought for a moment.    "Maybe at the beginning? Would that work?" I nodded silently.    "Yeah."    "W-Well, I guess I was about four or five years old when it happened. It was a rainy day, and I had gotten sick from playing outside for too long. So, mama brought me inside and rested me down on the couch. Papa later came in and lied down with me, I was starting to fall asleep while they were talking about going and getting me some medicine. After a while, papa kissed me on the forehead and picked me up and took me to my room. He lied me down on the bed and kissed my forehead again and told me that he loved me and that I would see him later. Then, papa took off to the pharmacy, but the storm got worse. Papa was driving when he died, apparently, the rain was so bad that he couldn't see out of his windshield and the guy who crashed into him didn't have his headlights on. Mama, grandpa, and I attended the funeral and a few weeks after that, Sota was born, and I've always felt like it was my fault that he never got to meet our father. If I hadn't been out in the rain for that long, I wouldn't have gotten sick," she trailed off. She was crying again, but not anywhere as bad as before. I wrapped my arm around her and held her head to my chest while she cried.    "I-I'm sorry, I feel stupid, you lost of your parents, right?" I sighed and rested my chin against the top of her head.    "Yeah, I did, but that doesn't mean that you don't have a right to be suffering like you were earlier. You and your father were really close, right? He seems like a good man Kagome, anybody would be suffering when they lose someone they love dearly." I sighed and kissed her forehead. "I would be suffering a lot if I lost you, but I'll make sure that that'll never ever happen, okay?"    "Yeah, thank you again Inuyasha. I'd be pretty sad if I lost you too." I felt her heartbeat slow down and looked down to see her asleep. I held her hand in mine tightly, I promise, I'll never lose her. "Inuyasha," she mumbled tiredly.    "Hmm?"    "I love you," she whispered. I smiled softly and kissed her cheek as she closed her eyes.    "I love you too, Kagome. Sleep tight, you need it."

Of Dragons, Knights, and Spells / Chapter 2: Fateful Meeting / by Yugen Paracosm a.k.a. yugen-works-118
A/N: Hello! I really hope that you enjoyed the first chapter, because I sure did enjoy writing it! Well, I really have to thank the amazing yugirl for letting me write this, thanks again! I will repeat this, Yu-Gi-Oh! 5d’s belongs to Kazuki Takahashi, the plot of this au belongs to yugirl-with-dragons!
————————————————
Aki’s POV
————————————————
“Oh! Sir Knight! Thank you for arriving at the perfect time,” the head of the crowd spoke up.
“Of course. Now, what’s the issue? Why are you all carrying weapons and torches?”
“A knight?! When did he get here?! But, why does his voice sound so familiar,” I mumbled aloud to myself. I pondered over where I could’ve seen or heard him before. The man had on a suit of armor with a sword strapped to his hip and everything. He had short yet spiky onyx black hair, perfectly tanned skin, and beautiful cobalt blue eyes. The unique looking man held a stern expression on his face as he asked the villagers about what had occurred. It was then that I realized that I would be in some serious trouble if I didn’t get to moving again. With that in mind, I tried to walk further away just inside the multitude of trees, keeping the stone path in my range of sight. I took my first step and froze. Apparently, luck wasn’t on my side. I stepped on a pile of leaves, at that same moment, everybody’s heads spun towards my direction. I started sweating as I watched the crowd’s eyes hunting for me along the trees predatorily. I cringed when I heard a metallic ring, and when I found the source, I paled. The knight had unsheathed his sword and was pointing it towards the trees.
“It’s the witch, has she fled?” The knight growled in annoyance.
“Show yourself witch,” he shouted. I was about to take off, but froze at the voice.
“I-It’s the same one from my dreams,” I realized.
“There she is!” I gasped in fear and took off sprinting once more.
“H-Hey! Wait a minute, stop right there!” I heard the loud clanking of metal in a rhythmic pattern, like footsteps. The knight was after me.
“No no no no no, this can’t be happening to me!” The constant clanking was getting nearer and nearer. I won’t be able to outrun him. I looked around desperately when it hit me.
“Ah, I may not be able to outrun him, but I can certainly hide,” I realized. Suddenly, I looked to my sides and saw silver slowly circling around my figure. I need to move now! With that, I ducked underneath the silver arms and dove for the trees. I heard the man gasp in shock, but did not look back to see his reaction. I took off running again, despite the leaves crumpling under my feet giving away my location, but that won’t matter soon. I searched for a good talk and steady tree. I listened for the clanking and smiled. The clanking was distant, perfect. I finally spotted a good tree at a bit of a distance from me. I sprinted with a good start towards it and leapt to catch the lowest branch, which was just a few inches above my head. I quickly hoisted myself onto the beach and grabbed the next one above me. I continued climbing on the branches at a steady pace until I was about a good nine to ten feet above ground level. I tried to quiet my breathing and strained my senses to scan the area for the knight. Sure enough, the clanking steadily became louder until he came running up just next to the tree I was in and stopped, getting down on one knee to catch his breath while his ocean colored eyes frantically searched the area for me.
“Damnit, she’s fast,” he mumbled. “Just where did she go? Has she vanished? The rustling of leaves stopped right around here.” He surveyed the area, seeming to be close to giving up. Once he regained his breath he stood up and searched the area once more before growling in frustration and walking off. I sighed in relief and jumped down from the brach, only to hear a loud crack.
“Ah crap.” The branch gave out underneath my weight and fell, taking me down with it. I screamed as I fell and landed on the floor with a thud. I looked around frantically and panicked when I saw the knight turn around.
“W-What the hell?” I wasted no time and stood up. Then I took off running again. “Hey! Wait! Damnit! Not again!” The clanking started again as he took off after me, again. I successfully managed to navigate my way out of the trees and onto the path again. I kept running and I saw a small civilization up ahead. Surely where there’s civilization, there are people, which means I can hide amongst the people there. Just as quick as I realized that, I yelped in shock as I suddenly found myself tumbling over. I screamed in pain as I felt multiple objects that sharply cut my legs. I opened my eyes and saw numerous flashes of shimmering silver. Suddenly, it became extremely difficult to breath. I looked back and saw a blur of brown. I must have hit a tree, which knocked the wind out of me. I tried to breath as my vision blurred, after a while I finally found my breath. Finally, my eyes laid on what was scattered in front of me… everywhere.
“I-It couldn’t be. Dragon scales?!” I picked one up and examined it carefully. Yes, it was definitely a dragon’s scale, lots of them too. It was then that I realized that there were people staring at me in shock and horror.
“Y-You wench! Do you know how valuable and fragile those are?!” I gasped as I suddenly was lifted off of the ground I looked fearfully at the enraged expression of the man that held me in the air. “Do you?! Those scales are worth more than your life, and you touched one too! You idiotic wench!” I screamed as I suddenly heard metal ringing and looked down to see that the man had pulled out a sword. I closed my eyes and waited for the pain of death, but when I suddenly heard a sound similar to metal clashing, I opened my eyes and realized that I was on the ground, well not quite. I was falling when someone caught me. I looked up and gasped in shock to see the knight from before holding me by my waist.
“H-Huh?” I was too shocked to mumble anything coherent.
“O-Oh shit!” I looked at the man while I noticed that the knight had been glaring at the man the entire time.
“Can you still run?”
“W-What?” I looked at him.
“Can you run or not,” he growled in annoyance. I gulped and nodded, too scared to say anything.
“Alright, well, you better get to it then. The crowd’s going to be here soon.” I listened carefully and heard more people shouting distantly. He then let me go and I nodded at him.
“Thanks.” He looked back at me and nodded back.
“No problem.” He looked back at the man and glared in such a menacingly manner that it sent chills down my spine. “You on the other hand,” he pointed his blade at the man. “Will not be fine. You must be surely aware that killing dragons is illegal.” I took off before anyone could say anything else and laughed quietly to myself at how much trouble that man would be in soon. I quickened my pace when I got far enough to the point where I started recognizing the patterns of the trees. I smiled and saw the cottage just ahead, and filled with relief, sprinted towards the door. I was about to open the door when I heard a sudden snort. I froze and looked around nervously, that sounded like it belonged to a large creature. After looking around, my eyes finally landed on something silver. I squinted my eyes to see what it was and walked towards it. Apparently, whatever it was, must have spotted me walking towards it. I screamed and was sent flying back by a sudden yet powerful gust of wind, accompanied by a ferocious roar that echoed throughout the forest. I scooted back in fear as it leaped out, when I finally saw it, I gasped. There, standing before me glaring and growling at me menacingly, was a silver and blue dragon. I gasped in fear as it released another ferocious roar and flapped its wings, taking off to the skies. I looked back at its majestic figure until it reached out of my sight. I clutched at my chest with my hands, breathing heavily.
“Damn, that’s probably the second time I’ve almost died today,” I mumbled. I stood up and walked over to the cottage and opened the door. I kicked off my shoes and stumbled to the table. Once I pulled out a chair, I plopped down into it exhaustedly and rested my head on the table, trying to recover from today’s ‘exciting’ events. I sighed in relief, never have I been more grateful to be home than I am now. I moved my forehead to rest against the frigid wood carefully. After I calmed down, I realized that I had dropped everything in the middle of town. I groaned in pure frustration.
“Damn it,” I cursed. “I sure as hell am not going back into Neo Domino after that little mishap!” I tried to figure out how I was going to get back all of the supplies I left in the city and groaned in frustration. Guess I’ll have to send a letter to the twins. I started thinking about the twins and smiled to myself. I stood up and went to open the window of the cottage for some fresh air, only to be swept off of my feet by another powerful wind current once I opened it. I screamed when I hit the ground, again, for who knows how many times today. I growled in annoyance as I stood up and looked out the window, for my annoyance to be swept away by the sight above me. There were two dragons in the sky, roaring at each other menacingly and scratching at each other ferociously. I strained my vision enough as I saw two small blurs on the dragons, and I recognized them to be people. I started paying attention to the dragons and gasped in surprise as I recognized the humongous silver and blue dragon from before. I watched in stupor as the battle raged on, both the dragons and the humans on them fighting each other viciously. Eventually the person on the second dragon went flying off of it at an inhumanly fast speed that was sure to be accompanied by death. With that, the blue and silver dragon struck a fatal blow to the other dragon and it took off in pain. The silver and blue dragon hovered in midair before suddenly dropping towards the ground. I gasped and rushed outside as the dragon landed on the ground, shaking the ground beneath me. I had to grasp onto a tree to prevent myself from losing my balance. After everything slowed to a still, I took off in the direction that the battle took place in search of the dragon and person that was on it. I began sprinting as soon as I saw a clearing with a gigantic white tail peaking out into the trees. I pushed past the bushes and saw the beautiful dragon laying on the ground, heaving in pain trying to catch its breath. I walked towards the dragon slowly and carefully, trying to see whether it was conscious or not. I yelped in surprise as I got my answer when the dragon opened one of its eyes and growled menacingly at me. I stood still in fright, not really knowing whether I should run or not. I eyed the dragon carefully and then noticed the a man curled protectively in the dragon’s arm. I gasped as I recognized him to be the knight that saved me earlier and at how fatal his wounds were. He would surely die if he didn’t get any medical attention soon. I stepped forward to try and help the knight, but I was reminded of the dragon’s presence when it suddenly growled and wrapped the man further into his grip. I held up my hands as a sign of peace.
“Please,” I begged. “I just want to help heal him. I can do it, but only if you’ll let me.” I stepped forward carefully. The dragon growled again, but softer this time. It glared at me dead in the eyes, and I stared right back; we stayed still as so for a few moments before the dragon have put a final threatening growl before moving its arm carefully. I quickly moved to kneel down next to the man. I scanned his figure to check for wounds. A deep gash on his right shoulder, another one that was not so bad on his left arm, and many more along his arms and torso. I held my hands out and breathed before reaching into my heart, before I knew it, I felt the familiar warmth that I always felt when I tried this. I opened my eyes and saw my hands glowing slightly with a golden aura. I looked back at the dragon and it stared at me intently. I breathed and placed my hand carefully on his shoulders, that was the main spot where he needed healing the most. The man below me groaned slightly at the contact, but I looked at the rest of his torso and tried to focus my ability to branch out to the rest of his wounds. I watched carefully as the gashes and cuts stretched to a close to stop the bleeding.
“W-What are you-” I avoided eye contact with him.
“I can’t really do anything about blood loss, but I can close wounds and get rid of bruises. It seems to be that you’ve lost a lot of blood.” I sighed in relief as the last of his wounds closed up. I turned to face his surprised cerulean eyes. “How is your vision? Can you see anything?” He blinked a few times, trying to strain his vision.
“Things are a bit blurry,” he responded. I sighed tiredly and removed my hands.
“Are you dizzy or nauseous?” He nodded slightly in response. I pressed my lips together in thought. This man is clearly going to need plenty of rest until he can be able to see or move properly again. “Do you think you can stand?” He blinked and groaned as he tried to sit up, he managed to sit up properly, but his arms were trembling. He looked like he was going to fall over. I walked over to him and knelt down on the ground next to him.
“It’s fine, I can stand on my own-” I didn’t really listen and I pulled his arm around my shoulder. He sighed once he noted I wasn’t listening and stood with me.
“As I said before, you seem to have lost a plentiful amount of blood, so you’re probably going to need to stay somewhere for a while and rest up for a while before you can move properly. The human body needs to take time to heal itself properly. I’ll be willing to let you stay in the cottage I live in that is not too far from here.” I looked back at the dragon. “Um, your dragon can come to, if it wishes to do so.” He looked back and smiled at his dragon, then looked back at me worriedly.
“Are you sure that we won’t be a problem?”
“Yes, I’m sure, you can stay in my bedroom for the time being.” We began walking back to the cottage with the dragon trudging along behind us. I looked back at the dragon, and noticed that most of its wounds were gone. “So, dragons do have magical healing powers like I do,” I mumbled softly to myself.
“Hm? Did you say something?” I looked at the man.
“No, I didn’t.” We continued walking along in silence for a while.
“What’s your name,” he asked. I looked at him curiously.
“Hm?”
“What’s your name? I was going to thank you for healing me and the hospitality, but I realized that I don’t know your name.”
“Oh, my name is Aki. If I may ask, what’s your’s?”
“Yusei,” He looked back at the dragon and smiled. “And that’s Stardust, he’s been a friend of mine for almost as long as I can remember.” The dragon huffed in confirmation and Yusei laughed lightly.
“Hm, Yusei and Stardust huh. I’ll make sure to keep that in mind.”

Of Dragons, Knights, and Spells / Chapter 1: Dreams and Pain / by Yugen Paracosm
A/N: This is inspired by the amazing yugirl-with-dragon's medieval au, if you haven't seen it, you should definitely go check it out!. Yu-Gi-Oh! 5d's belongs to Kazuki Takahashi, and the plot of this story belongs to yugirl-with-dragons! This story is also posted on Wattpad in case anyone wants to know! Thank you for reading! ^O^ ------------------------------------------------Aki's POV: ------------------------------------------------ "Aki," the voice faded in and out of my hearing. It sounded masculine, like a man's voice, a voice that I've never heard before. "Come find me, in the city." I could practically hear the warm smile placed on his face, just based off of the warm and comforting tone of the voice.    "W-What city? Are you talking about Neo Domino?" The voice merely chuckled. I opened my eyes lazily and groaned at the sun's powerful rays blinding my eyesight. I pushed myself to sit up and looked out the window to see the familiar green and brown of the trees, plants, and grass that surrounded the small cottage. That's the third time I've had that dream this week, he couldn't be talking about Neo Domino, could he? I untangled myself from the blankets and crawled out of my bed. I suddenly noticed the silent aura of the cottage. So, he's left again. Huh. Sure enough, when I walked out to the kitchen, there was a note neatly written in cursive and everything. ------------------------------------------------    Dear Aki,             When you read this, I will be gone already. I have some urgent business that I need to attend to over in a town quite a ways from here. I will be back within a month's period of time. In apology for the sudden leaving, I'll bring back some strawberries with sugar for you, as dessert for when I come back. I know that it's your favorite. I hope you will stay safe while I'm gone, and remember, don't go into Neo Domino unless it's absolutely necessary. If, on some occasion, you do have to go into the city for supplies and such, wear the cloak that I have left for you on the counter, and use the money and the map of Neo Domino that I've left next to the cloak. Remember, be safe, and don't let anyone in. Sincerely, Divine ------------------------------------------------ I sighed as I finished reading the letter and set it back down. I looked at the other side of the counter to, of course, see the said cloak, map, and money on the counter across from me. I walked over to the pantry and opened the door. Dammit. We're already out of milk. I grumbled in annoyance and checked for anything else that I would need for the next month. I need to get milk, eggs, corn, bread, and some vegetables. I looked at the money on the counter. There was four gold coins, and three silver coins. I hummed in consideration before grabbing a gold coin and looked over at the cloak thoughtfully, pondering whether I really needed it or not. I shook my head, deciding I didn't need it, and was about to walk out of the door, until I had second thoughts and grabbed it. I covered myself with the cloak and raised the hood to cover my head and face before walking outside. I clenched the lone golden coin tightly in one hand nervously and the map in the other. This is my first time going to Neo Domino. Divine's always told me to not go anywhere near Neo Domino, that if I did, then people would wish to harm me, and I've always listened to him. The childhood stories and warnings that Divine always told me as a child about how terrifying Neo Domino and it's people could be flooded my mind. I probably would have proper education about Neo Domino and everything else that I need to know if it weren't for the simple fact that... my parents died when I was born. But Divine found me, took me under his wing, and raised me. At least that's what he told me. My thoughts and recollections of the past stopped when I suddenly saw the city up ahead. I sighed tiredly and looked ahead at it.    "Well, let's just get this over with. Who knows though, maybe I can actually find that voice from my dreams," I mumbled thoughtfully. Eventually, the stone pathway leading to the vibrant city came into view. I followed the path into the bustling city. I walked to the market area, which is in the heart of the town, according to the map. People hurried or wandered by, some with intention, and others without a single worry. Children ran around, screaming and laughing. I walked around, and searched for and gathered everything.    "Maybe I can look around for a little bit now that I've got everything," I considered. The city wasn't anywhere as bad as Divine made it out to be. What's the problem? The people here seem friendly and kind. I hummed in joy as I passed by a flower stand, stopping to admire the flowers.    "Oh? Why hello there dear," the lady behind the varieties of flowers spoke up. I looked up in mild surprise. "U-Um, hi," I mumbled nervously. She smiled at me graciously and chuckled wholeheartedly. "There, there, there is no need to be nervous dear child." "O-Okay," I responded. "Well, do you like any of the flowers here? I saw you eyeing the roses just a moment ago." "Y-Yes, I love roses, I was thinking of growing a garden of them and other flowers at home." She smiled sweetly. "That's great, you should do that." She hummed in thought before pulling out a small bunch of roses and wrapping them up.    "Here, take one, for a kind young lady such as yourself." I felt my face heat up slightly at the kind compliment. "T-Thank you, so much, but I can't accept these," I stuttered. She smiled once more and put her hands on my shoulders. "Sweetie, you seem like a wonderful woman, you should take it." She practically pushed the small bouquet into my arms. Then a customer came by and stole her attention before I could say anything else. She smiled and winked at me as I began being slowly pulled away by the crowd. "T-Thank you," I called out in exasperation. I walked away from the flower stand, knowing that I wouldn't have much of another chance to talk to the generous woman again. I started walking back towards the forest when I felt something tug lightly on my cloak. I looked down to see a small child with brown hair and grey eyes gazing up at me. "H-Hello? P-Please help m-me, I-I lost my m-mommy," the child cried. I gazed at her in sympathy as she started to tear up and looked down sadly. I sighed and picked her up in my arms. "Alright, I'll help you, what does you mommy look like?" The child sniffled and wiped her eyes. "S-She has brown hair, like me, except she has blue eyes." I nodded and walked around the town's square looking for a woman with that description. After walking around for a while, a woman cried out and suddenly started jogging over towards us. "Chinami," she cried. I let the child down and she smiled and nodded at me in thanks before running over to her mom, who embraced her lovingly and scolded her for wandering off. I smiled at the exchange between the mother and daughter, suddenly frowning at how I longed to have that kind of a relationship with my mother. I don't even know what my mother looked like, or what her name was, I don't even know if I have any other family members. The only person I've ever known was Divine, and even then, he always had some business to attend to in some other town or Neo Domino, and he wouldn't tell me anything even when I asked. It registered to me that the woman was looking at me. "Thank you, so much, how can I repay you?" I smiled softly. "There's no need to repay me, I just did what was right." She started tearing up as she looked at her daughter again, then Chinami said something to her mother, and she let Chinami down. She ran over to me, but tripped over a pebble and fell on my cloak, pulling it off of me. In a sudden moment of dead silence, I realized everyone in the area was staring at me in shock, I looked around nervously. W-What? What's going on? "S-She has red hair, that's not a hair color, is it," a passerby spoke up. Then, much to my horror, Haruka's mother pulled her back into her arms protectively. "Demon!" She pointed an accusing finger at me. "You we're going to murder my daughter, weren't you?!" Everybody stared at me in terror. Then, before I could even register what was happening, everybody started circling around me. I gasped as I felt something sharp graze my cheek. W-Was that a knife?! Before I knew what I was doing, I dropped my items, and shoved whoever was in front of me out of my way, and started sprinting. I could hear shouting resonating from behind me. I looked back and I saw people with weapons taking chase after me, which made me run even faster. "I should have never even come to this place," I screamed to the heavens. I continued sprinting through the gravel road. "Why did I have to be stupid?! Why was I idiotic enough to come here just because of a stupid dream and supplies?! Now, I'm going to die because of it! I should've just stayed in the cottage like Divine told me to!" I gasped as an abruptly painful sensation scorched my ankles. I looked at my feet to see a blur of orange, red, and yellow. Fire?! Are they really trying to kill me? I didn't even do anything! All I did was help a little girl who lost her mother! What was wrong with that?! I paused at the realization that there was no sound at the moment. Have they given up on chasing me? I jogged to hide behind a tree, and suddenly, the world started blurring around me. I took in deep breaths until I managed to catch the tantalizing sensation of breath once more. I then realized that most of the noise stopped, but, there was someone talking. I strained my hearing and nearly pulled a double-take at the two voices speaking.    "Oh! Sir Knight! Thank you for arriving at the perfect time," the head of the crowd spoke up.    "Of course. Now, what's the issue? Why are you all carrying weapons and torches?" My breath hitched as I heard the second voice, it sounded... familiar.
