The legendary gazes quietly at Zapdos' herald, piercing crimson not unlike those of it's sibling—it lends itself into being perhaps... less aggressive than the other, but with the knowledge of tradition at hand, it is no more than a ruse. Although the most sociable, Articuno does not appear to just anyone, as a legendary does.

However, this one. Volkner, his name was. Articuno had come to know Zapdos' herald through their bond, quietly observing him during his crash course in training to handle the burden of lightning incarnate with Hayato, seldom in his lonesome when he was forced to rest. Now, it's quite convenient that he had brought another 'mon that was capable of translating to human language. Articuno gazes at Rotom for some time, the little ghost bouncing around in the air for some time in idle excitement.

Somehow, it seemed like every team member Volkner possessed was a reflection of his personality.

Articuno ruffles it's wings, stirring up a chill in idle movement. It appears to be almost pleased.

'You've grown, Volkner. From the day my brother brought you here. There's less pain in your eyes.' Articuno's verbal cues are closer to soft warbles, gentle shifting in soft feathers. It's cry is ear piercing when needed, but otherwise, Articuno could be mistaken for a local pheasant. 'You remain resilient, and that is why I allowed you to learn with Yukihane—I am not the only experience that has pushed you to your limits, and I expect such things will not be worn in shame.'

The lord of ice stalks over before simply just.. resting his chin on Volkner's head as a gesture of trust as it is gratitude, before stepping back. After all, this one was not a fan of the cold.

'You've also taught Hayato much in your time here in Johto. For that, I am grateful. You have a comrade in him as well as I. You need only make the call.'

temperature sensitivity—yato is accustomed to the cold after prlonged exposure training with articuno. it inadvertently raises his status as the Cool Awesome Guy as he's still in his short sleeves even during snowfall, but he doesn't particularly pay any mind to it. much of this is through sheer will, though, as his body is only human, and he certainly isn't immune to the effects of being in severe cold longer than a person should be. primal reversion still gives him frostbite on his extremities that take a few days to heal, so for better or for worse, he's come to expect the process.

on the other hand, high heat is not fun, and he has a tendency to be a little dramatic about it when teased. such is the downside to being aligned with the ice bird, but he'll survive if he has some water. ( sunyshore in the summer was hell )

— On humans.

For all intents and purposes, Articuno is.. ambivalent towards humans. It does like most of them, and is more friendly towards them than Zapdos ( that is, less prone to judgemental stares and potential violence ). Much of it has to do with the long-standing history in which humans have chosen to stand by it and even go as far as routinely proving that it shouldn't consider laying humans to waste. Even so, Articuno didn't particularly care at that time what happened to humans, but offered equal protection when the humans that did their best to take care of it needed the help. This symbiosis became the standard over some years of desperate survival for humans, in a land primarily occupied by 'mons who were not picky with their meal for the day.

It remained as impartial as possible in humam conflicts ( and danger would slowly become imminent when it's presence was treated as a weapon—which, articuno was hardly offended, being an aspect of the region's weather meant it was a force unfathomable to primitive technology ). When such conflicts were created due to the existence of what was then primal reversion, the need for some way to suppress this influence arose, and the community that lived near Articuno was the logical choice, as generations of fealty evolved into reverence. Humans were fascinating in this regard, and to say it wasn't humorous would be a bit of a lie. Humans were the first living creatures to look upon the bird in such a light. In the end, Articuno allowed this kind of connection as it was mutually beneficial. In this point of history was the concept of an herald born.

In the modern era, Articuno has learned well of the strange behaviors of humans—not all are what they seem. The events that occurred in Johto are proof of that err in judgment, and although it went into hiding for some years, it still resided in the depths of Violet City or the cold mountains from all humans. Still, with the trials of each generation held strongly in the Yukihane clan, it is well aware that humans are fragile physically, despite the kinds of fortresses are built across hearts and minds. It likes, that, in all truth. The unpredictability in humans is almost the same as the unpredictability in the weather itself. Articuno likes that.
