🌙 dynamic abilities

alpha command — also referred to as the alpha voice. a deep, rumbling tone that triggers obedience & submission in those who hear it. it’s most effective on pack & those who already respect the alpha as an authority figure—but some particularly dominating people are capable of effecting those who don’t know / respect them. commands are also heightened when given after a scruff or submission bite. a command usually sound deep and rumbling; firm and commanding; or low and soothing.

beta scent-shifting — a beta is able to consciously (or unconsciously) shift their scent to mimic another’s. they can disguise themselves as an alpha, omega, or another beta—and even mimic a milky pup scent. this is typically used to calm packmates, and also makes them invaluable in the medical field or for calming those in a feral state. there are varying skill levels, with some being able to fool any nose, and others only able to fool those in distress / not thinking clearly.

omega suggestion — also referred to as the omega voice. it incites in people a desire to please, to protect, to make the omega happy. it can also have a relaxing effect. it’s most effective on other pack members, or those with a positive relationship with the omega—though some have particularly powerful voices, & can affect even those they aren’t close with/who actively dislike them. the sound is generally gentle & soothing; soft & crooning; or lyrical & melodious.

kinda loving how all of the muses i have here just. they touch grass as a hobby. i like that. :) just having roark thoughts ( again ) while he'd bring lunatone to stare at a harvest moon like 👁 but in reality all of his mons tend to just enjoy the peace and quiet with the night sky. steven enjoying astronomy and his funny array of creatures from space just out and about in the stratosphere looking like satellites from where he sits. adaman taking his last nightly patrol to keep the diamond settlement safe alongside umbreon, wondering what everything is beyond hisui, listening to idle kricketot, maybe even chancing a clefairy dance if he ever stays in mt. coronet to bother melli. touching grass is good for the soul actually.

In the verse, dragons are essentially extinct ( or that’s what they want you to believe ) and there was a time where the magic populations used their scales for just about anything as the creatures shed them or lost them from day to day living enough, but in these modern nights, owning and / or using things made from dragon scales, like cauldrons, wands / staffs, blades or even in ornamental things and so on is considered illegal and if it becomes general knowledge that these items are being used, a coven of witches called The Order of Draco, established in the 1700s and based in an undisclosed location in Scotland, but will travel to where their cause calls upon them, will descend on the scene, take the dragon items and arrest the individuals in question, holding on to them until they can be trialed.

These items are extremely rare and to no ones knowledge, the Atton twins do have a dragon scale cauldron in their possession, which should come to no one’s surprise if it ever gets out.

The retro shark gang!✨

Finished artwork of this adorable trio who appeared to me at a time when I needed peace! In the future I will make more of their world.

I was exploring ideas of shark characters for my secret stories. This time I had the inspiration to make an teen indie band from to enrich a retro worldbuilding of sharks that I created!🦈🎶

🎤- Aria Marinsoul is a Zebra Shark, she would be the lead singer. 🎹- Tyson Stripes is a Tiger Shark, he plays a synthesizer. 🎸- Rocky Malletfin is a Great Hammerhead Shark, he plays a bass guitar.

I feel that sometimes these characters “manifest” to cherish me in times of turbulence. I like it a lot, it brings me a lot of peace. And their characteristics are a very deep reflection of my subconscious, such as:

🌙 - Rocky is mysterious, he likes esoteric things and attracted to the occult, he seems like a bad guy but he has a good heart because despite his big body he has a soft and melodic voice. He has several lunar symbols on him like a moon phases symbol on his shirt, tattoo of crashing waves, stars and a misty moon. If I were to give him a sign, it would be a mix of Scorpio and Pisces. The name 'Rocky' is a nickname given by Tyson, he is actually called Robert!

☀️ - Tyson is quite fearless and courageous but under an aura of sensitivity and calm, attracted by geek things and video games. Sometimes he is very distracted and intense. The symbol on his blouse is a mixture of the zoadical signs of Aquarius and Cancer, which would be the sign mixture that would give him. Rocky sometimes nicknames him Tiger!

⭐- Aria is introverted and quiet, but she is optimistic, inspiring and full of passions, sometimes she creates a lot of expectations and is very frustrated when not achieved. She is a guiding star symbol who inspires her two colleagues to persevere in their dreams. I imagine her being a cross between a lion and cancer signs.

There are more secrets I thought about them, but I will share at another time.

🧦☕🧸A Guide to Writing Cozy Fantasy

What is "cozy fantasy"? 🧺🪵

Cozy fantasy is a subgenre that is characterized by a more everyday approach to fantasy.

While its definition is not as clear-cut (everyone will have a sightly different idea of what it needs to look like), there are some general approaches to writing in this subgenre.

Elements of Cozy Fantasy 🕯️ೀ

A comforting, healing ambience 🍪

Rather than bloody battle and cunning witches, we have our next door wizard baker chumming up his special pumpkin pie.

Every magical book at their deepest core evoke a healing quality, but for these cozy novels, this warm element takes control.

2. "Kindness” and ‘gentleness” tropes 🍂

Found family/community, a sense of togetherness

Kind hearted protangoists

Plots gull of joy, hope or happy endings. Give your readers reassurance that everything will work out. And they do.

Ambience woven in the worldbuilding that gets the reader intitamely close to the world

Slower pace, allow the reader to delve into the story world and build stake in these kind, loving characters.

Slice of life: provide personal insight into the character’s “mundane” lives. 

The plot must take this "happy" nad kind" element as the MAIN theme. Every book provides catharsis at the end, but if the process if filled with dark, dangerous adventures, that's not cozy at all!

3. Cozy doesn’t mean “no/low stake” 📖

No novel would be interesting without conflict and some kind of loss.

Think of “personal” stakes. Cozy fantasy can be grand adventures, quiet magical quests, fairytales or healing slice of life stories.

For example, the protagonist can develop new relationship around town and figure out her passion to express the theme of importance of enduring. 

4. Generally slower pace, focusing more on the inner development of the protagonist and the main side characters.

☣️ GODSLAYER science fantasy

when angels discover humanity, the solar system unites under the inquisition, a powerful agency dedicated to the defense of mankind. as they battle against the cosmic threat, the stars seem to shift; the universe is dying, and the angels are ravenous.

🌙 ONEIRATA dark fantasy

in a city where it’s forbidden to dream, a condemned mage is saved by the child prophesied to end the world. as the moon demands blood, he struggles to understand the choice presented to him: betray his savior and secure the sacrifice, or succumb to the cataclysm that is coming.

⛓️ A CITY ABLAZE soft sci-fi

a retelling of the prometheus myth, set in a post-apocalyptic, frozen world. in the last bastion of humanity, a young woman finds herself enthralled by the world outside; a desire that might have deadly consequences for both her and the city itself.

🦐 TIDEFALL pirate fantasy

a story where you play as the branded, a person gifted with a fraction of an old god’s power. marked by an eldritch prawn goddess, you are tasked with saving the gods from extinction. however, the crew of the pirate ship that sheltered you might have other plans.

A pup’s dynamic is known early—sometimes from utero, but definitely from birth. There may be some confusion between alpha and beta boys, or beta and omega girls, but scent usually clears that up.

Pups, especially those from multi-births, are born a little smaller than IRL babies. They grow fast, though—though said growth can make them very fussy :( Their parent or packmates purring against them eases the pain, though, soothing them.

They have a hard time generating and retaining body heat for the first three months, which means they need lots of cuddles.

Pup’s noses are especially strong, and thus are more keenly aware of even subtle shifts in scents. They’re very wary around new scents. They easily become overstimulated by smells. Sometimes a particularly strong scent will make them sneeze.

Play fighting is common, especially among baby alphas. It can get a little too rough sometimes, though.

Pups often tend to explore things with their mouths, leading to a lot of biting even outside of teething. While this is good for building jaw strength, it often leads to a lot of biting things they aren’t supposed to.

Biting toys are common.

Pups nibble on each other and their older packmates to show affection. Unfortunately, they’re not always good at judging force, or teeth sharpness.

I saw a post on twitter about alpha pups being clingy towards their dams (particularly if they’re an omega), and I love it. They growl at “intruders”—which can include their other parent / packmates or strangers. They get bad separation anxiety, which can make the first day of preschool / kindergarten super tough 🥺

Conversely, (inspired by the same tweet as above) omega pups may cling to a specific parent, but also tend to just be clingy / cuddly in general. All they want to do is snuggle!

Beta pups are slightly more independent—though some can be clingy or cuddly!—but are often prone to wanting to wander around / explore their new surroundings as a result.

Nap time is taken in puppy piles / a communal nest. Pups will bring a blanket and/or pillow and/or stuffed toy from home to use in the nest. In sleep they all end up curling together / on top of each other; the room filled with soft, content purrs before they peter off into true sleep.

Recess can be chaotic, especially with puppies who like to tussle. Sometimes older students will volunteer to help monitor and make sure no one gets hurt.

Presentation happens around 12 to 15. Delayed presentations aren’t unheard of, especially in unsafe environments. The first fertile cycle generally happens between 17 and 19, though again, delays aren’t uncommon.

Presentations being hormones and instincts to the fore, and are very tumultuous for everyone. A presenting pup will often latch onto an older pack member during this time, and become extremely clingy.

Puberty is also when abilities develop. Sometimes alphas will slip into command on accident, when frustrated or mad. Omegas will find themselves using suggestion when sleepy or upset. Beta’s scent slides all over the place. They may unconsciously mimic their packmates, friends, or crushes.

Scents also fluctuate just in general, growing stronger and losing the milky edge of early puphood. Some days they can be oppressively strong, causing pups to burn through scent patches.

Some pups get particularly protective and/or fussy over their nests, not letting anyone—even younger packmates—in.

All three dynamics also grow their adult fangs around this time. I’m unsure if these fangs replace their baby fangs, or if they develop a second set which can be extended.

And, of course, puberty—so everyone is becoming aware of the other dynamics & genders, learning their preferences. Pups will often begin their first attempts at courting.

Waverly Scott

He’s Quinn’s partner on the force, completely oblivious to the true supernatural nature of the cases he’s faced with so often and Quinn has to go out of his way constantly to ensure it stays that way, for his sake and everyone else's, as Waverly’s proved himself to be a tenacious force on many occasions.

When not working cases, he’s a bird dad, owning about twelve different birds, somewhat of an extreme bird enthusiast who bird watches on weekends and involves himself in all sorts of bird rescues and stuff like that.

He also happens to be a closeted gay and he really hopes that when he finds his man, they’re as equally enthusiastic about birds as he is.

—Never the first, never the last.

hayato’s not the first one to take on the trials of lord articuno in this generation of people. no, some decade and a half ago, another yukihane was set to take on the trial and be the herald—yukihane yulan. a devoted and confident falconer, much like hayato himself when he is of age, her departure was his final sight of his beloved older sister. she did not survive the trek back from the mountains beyond mahogany town, where articuno resided for her trial. 

days of no response from her had sealed her fated—not all that took on articuno were guaranteed to succeed, a known risk to those who were deemed capable to train for such an endeavor. a young, five year old hayato simply did not understand, that is, until he’d discovered his fear of ghosts—when the sorrowful call of a froslass would be at the gates of the yukihane citadel. the young boy would find himself terrified, seeing the ghost and inevitably fleeing after slamming the gates shut. he has no idea if she followed, but her identity is lost on him.

legends speak of froslass as a reborn woman possessing an icicle, and perhaps, perhaps yulan would bleed and freeze clutching nevermeltice in her hands, sinking in the failure of her ambitions and the hope that her brother could overcome for the both of them, alone in the mountains as her lord peers over her before determining the trial is over. her corpse would feed the starving fauna and her soul would find it’s way back to violet city, only to be shunned and feared, with the snowfall on a clear night haunting her beloved brother. 

a certain figure would inevitably be summoned in order to dispel her presence, but instead, she’s fit to join the ensemble of ghost types—a stasis in being capable of watching over hayato despite her mortal departure. hayato does not know yulan is near ( and perhaps it’s safest that he never knows ).
