okay so i hate to do this. my landlord just decided to evict my sister and i out of the apartment we've lived in for the past 6 years, basically out of nowhere, the day after i took my kitten home from his surgery.

at this point, it's looking like i'm going to have to deal with a hefty rent increase, as well as pay about 4-6 months up front. i don't want to waste anyone's time with a huge block of text explaining my circumstances, so all of the details will be under read more below. but if you've used or enjoyed my gifs, it will mean the world to me if you could help me out.

we live in toronto, notoriously one of the most expensive cities in north america, and after 6 years of inflation the rent situation in the city just got worse and worse — my rent will be going up from $1,250 a month, to about $1,800 a month. which in the surface, will be somewhat manageable after i get a new job (i'm being optimistic here), however, the main problem right now is the process of starting a new lease.

in toronto (and in many other places, i'm pretty sure), the customary deposit is usually the first and last month (so your monthly rent x 2), however, i'm anticipating that i will be asked to pay an addition of four months rent on top of the customary first and last month. this is because a) how competitive renting is in toronto (yes, i've had to pay 6 months up front in the past, multiple times), and b) i don't have a stellar credit score, mainly due to being legally not allowed to work during my 3 year long visa process.

so it's about $10,800 overall, which is honestly a lot for anyone at any point, to me: that's an exorbitant amount. i'm going to be moving in with my friend with excellent credit, and even he had to pay four months up front when he moved to his apartment last year. so best case scenario, i'd have to pay $7,200 up front, which is still a lot of money for me, and certainly not something i just have sitting in my bank account.

i'm terrified, at this point. my official eviction notice is for 90 days from the 29th of february, and that's not nearly enough time to gather up the amount of money i need. moreover, the closer it is to summer, the higher the rent prices will be due to the amount of people generally moving after the school year ends. my best bet is really, to move out as soon as possible. i couldn't really move back in with my parents (as much as i would love to) since they live on the other side of the world. i don't have any other family in the city apart from my sister, who will be staying with her boyfriend.

as much as i want to give everyone a gif pack in exchange for cash, i can't guarantee any sort of productivity at this point since i'm still working a full time job, and my mental health is just... basically almost as bad as it's ever been. i don't want to promise something that i'm pretty sure i can't deliver.
