15 years ago, my sister and I bought a pear tree for our parents’ 25th wedding anniversary. For years- well, 15 to be precise - it did not produce any fruit. I was feeling a bit weird about it, like, what kind of a message is that sending? And then this year, boom. Full harvest. Pears for days. And tasty, too. As a wise friend once said (who is not on IG and cannot be tagged, sadly!) (But I’ll text her this post hehe), sometimes our lives are just like those trees who seem like they have died over the winter- the branches dry and no sign of life can be seen. Equally, sometimes we work as hard as we can on a project/a vision/a goal and it seems like nothing is working, like our efforts are going unnoticed and nothing is moving. But what the eye cannot see, is that the sap is slowly but surely making its way to each of the little branches, until one day, when the time is right and the environment ready, boom, the tree blossoms. As do our lives, and that pear tree. That’s what faith is about, right? Knowing that that sap is there, climbing its way - even if we can’t see it. Same with our dreams. I’ve been working on some stuff for a looong while now with no apparent results, and when I get discouraged, well I just need to go put my face in that pear tree.
