God i hate these sudden bursts of sadness, where I'm wrapped in feeling like I am not growing, even though I am. I just want to be feeling more present and grounded. It's really difficult to do this when all I am receiving from the world are either static or the sounds of rejection.

Sit down to write when you have even half an hour, not waiting to have a lot of free time in hand.
I want everyone’s best one liner writing advise!
Mine is that you have to know the ending of your story before you start it.

so i see a lot of positivity posts about how ‘you’re allowed to take up space!’ and ‘don’t apologize for existing!’ which are 1) really good and 2) really true, but i’m sometimes left wishing they gave specific examples
so, if you’re like me and are the type to need this sort of thing, you now officially have permission to:
ask for things to change to make you more comfortable
say ‘no’ to things that make you uncomfortable
feel negative emotions in an ostensibly positive situation
feel positive emotions in an ostensibly negative situation
make mistakes
say the wrong thing
do the wrong thing
ignore a text, question, email, invitation, etc.
fall short of someone’s standards, including your own
not understand something
ask clarifying questions
break social norms
be ‘too much’ of something
be ‘too little’ of something
have preferences and needs that differ from those around you
articulate what’s important to you
you are allowed to be a flawed person. you are allowed to be unapologetic and unafraid. entirely, radically, completely: you are allowed to exist.

Charif Shanahan, While I Wash My Face I Ask Impossible Questions of Myself and Those Who Love Me
Text ID:
When the new beginning comes, what then?
Does life suddenly reset like an Atari?
Does meaning emerge
Assertively and without invitation?
The task is to live well enough with you.
But how? How do you know what you want
If you don't tell you? If you don't hear you?

a friend has been staying at my home and I'm being easily triggered by many things they say. Maybe because i see them as smarter than me, more accomplished. Maybe i am feeling small.
sometimes i can't tell whether many of my opinions are just all biases and ego-induced responses masked with reasons

suddenly, after adopting a cat, I'm more aware of my home's specific ecosystem. I'm aware of the plants in my balcony, the kind of detergents or cleaners i had lying around, the kind of food that i eat and so on. i mean I've over the past few years become more conscious of humankind's ecological influences, but knowing it on a personal level is still impactful. not to say that the anthropogenic climate crisis can or should be dealt with on an individual level. counting our personal carbon footprint--unless we are just obnoxiously rich--is not an answer to our problem. But still. My cat opens a window for me into understanding how we coexist with other creatures in urban ecology. Anyway here's my cat.

For all the less popular writers. For the writers who don't get much attention. For the writers who have a very small following, or no following. For the writers who don't get a lot of notes or comments.
You are valid. You are brilliant. You are creating something unique and magical and all yours. No one would create it better. You are creating! You're writing! That is a magic all its own, and all yours.
You are valued, and valuable, and good enough as you are.

lately I've noticed how the men around me, my friends and comrades, don't tick many of the conventional boxes of manhood. And that's gives me hope.
