I wanna live in a world where clients say: “yeah that’s cheap…but what’s missing from the treatment plan to make it so cheap? Will this adversely affect my pets quality of care or prognosis??” Instead of: “Oh my goodness that’s so cheap!! Why do other clinics charge so much I bet it’s just going straight into the vets pockets!!!”

exam psychosis is setting in hard
Student 1: and then I think maybe I should study goats but idk that might be a waste of time...
student 2: if its a goat it can just get drenched
student 3: with water, one of the few things that are licensed in goats *laughs*
student 1: drenched with my tears...
student 2: no, tears aren’t licensed for goats or any food producing animal... there’s no minimum residue limit set for how much a final year can cry on a goat, so it can never go into the food chain if you do that!

investigation of bleeding disorders. The important thing to remember about animals you think may have a coagulopathy is to minimise the amount of times you stick needles in them! use a peripheral vein and place a pressure bandage after sampling, don’t confirm the diagnosis by having the animal bleed out from its jugular at you.

Cardiac murmurs found in puppies and kittens. Low grade murmurs over the left heart base in a very young animal are usually innocent and will resolve spontaneously by 12 weeks old. Other murmurs may be slightly more concerning.

We’ve applied to get the bunny a friend after exam season finishes! I’m super excited - a bit worried he might eat his new friend’s face during bonding, but really excited that we’ll finally be meeting one of his most important welfare needs (and also to see cute bunny snuggling)

How I look at myself now, a 5th year procrastinating studying: Oh no. graduation is in 10 weeks. I’m not in a position to tell people what to do with their animals. I am but a lowly potato, a foetus potato whose concept of self care is fundamentally flawed and needs to get off tumblr and actually fuckin’ study some shit so I know what a horse even is.... Send help and chocolate brownies.
Perspective
How I viewed  4th-5th year vet students back in pre-vet and first year: Gods among men. They must be perfect students, I mean….. these people made it through ANATOMY. Quiver before them, for they know their shit and will enter the workforce ready to fucking go.
How I now look at myself, a 5th year vet student: Oh no. They’re probably going to let me graduate in a year. Who let this happen???? I’m not in a position to provide veterinary care. I am but a lowly potato. A lowly FOETUS potato. I can barely care for myself. What the fuck even is a horse? Send help.

“if I tell you anything that I think people doing your job are doing, even when you are at home, relaxing and not thinking about doing your job, you should always be polite and kind and talk sweetly to me, despite me A) not paying for your time, B) invading your life to tell you something that might not even apply to you, C) quite possibly being completely wrong, and D) not being invited to share my opinion. You may never have a day off, you must always be SuperProfessional Girl and you must always answer promptly.
PS, I think your entire profession and most of your friends have no empathy or integrity, and I would never give you my money, you gold digger”
Mate if you don’t like profanity and inappropriate comments, block it and scroll on, there’s no reason to tell anyone else that they can’t swear or say things you don’t like. If it’s not your blog...
I have an issue with the way you and many other blogs ran by vets talk to some of the “normal” people on here. If we’re bringing up an issue in YOUR profession, shouldn’t you respond kindly and with thought and in a professional way rather than with swearing and inappropriate comments.. “miss me with that bs”. I wouldn’t come to you if you were the vet in my area...
Oh good lord.
I honestly, really don’t think I have it in me today to reply to this as “appropriately” as you want.
I’m tired. I’m really really emotionally tired.
Yeah you’re right, were monsters. We’re rude, money grabbing awful people who only go into an insanely difficult, emotionally-ruining profession just for the money and so we can appear high and mighty.
We need to be vets and nurses all the time just so we can listen kindly to comments from anonymous people on the internet and nod politely despite how shit those comments might make you feel.
We’re totally not just normal people who have lives and struggles and pets and issues of our own.
