au where instead of wanting to murder his own replacement, jason just decides to. replace somebody else. and that's now dick ends up in an increasingly ridiculous back and forth fight between himself and some random fucker who keeps showing up in a nightwing costume pretending to be him
dick's never been more pissed off in his life. theres literally nothing he did to deserve this, and now he has to fight for the vigilante persona HE created? it only gets worse because the more frustrated dick gets about the whole situation, the funnier this fake nightwing seems to find it.
it gets personal when damian starts calling the fake nightwing his big brother too. of course, jason was there first, but dick doesn't know that. and it's driving him fucking insane
he thinks that he's got the guy when he stands on top of a building in the middle of a massive fight, tries to do a quadrupal somersault, and promptly eats shit in front of everybody, but instead of realising he's a faker now the rest of the underworld thinks that nightwing's losing his touch.
he cries in alfred's arms at the injustice of it all.

@Fanfic writers:
My friend send me this link, is a series on a profile on Ao3 (tumblr) that has different tutorials to insert things to fanfics via html code, I thought I would share bc it’s really cool
Lists of tutorials:
How to make images fit in mobile browsers
This is a tutorial/live example on how to make large images fit on mobile browsers but remain normal size on desktop browsers.
How to mimic letters, fliers, and stationery without using images
This is a tutorial/live example on how to mimic the look of letters, fliers, and stationery (as well as other forms of written media) without using images. For all your epistolary fic needs.
How to make a “choose your own adventure” Fic
This is a tutorial/live example on how to create a "Choose Your Own Adventure" fic. While this has been explained before (see here), this particular tutorial shows you how to use a work skin to hide the next parts from the reader until they click through to get to them.
How to make linked footnotes on Ao3
This is a live example of how an author can create linked footnotes in their work with only a little bit of HTML and no workskins required. This is best viewed by clicking "Entire Work". While I've included the actual coding in bold and italic once you click "Hide Creator's Style", there's a more detailed explanation here.
How to change text on Ao3 when the cursor is hovering over it (or clicked on mobile)
This a tutorial/live example on how to have text change or appear once a cursor is hovering over it. Helpful for pop-up spoilers, language translations, quick author's notes, etc.
How to mimic author’s notes and Kudos/Comment buttons
Anonymous on tumblr: do you have a skin that would mimic the author’s notes and review/kudos buttons section from the end of a fic? the desired effect being that the fic could go on after the “end” of the fic, so after the author’s notes and review/kudos buttons
Here's a tutorial/live example to do just that, with some of the buttons actually functioning. I'll explain more inside!
How to wrap text around images
This is a tutorial/live example on how to align images to the left or right of the screen and have text wrap around them.
How to mimic email windows
This is a tutorial/live example on how to mimic email windows on AO3 without the need to use images.
How to make ios text messages on Ao3
This is a tutorial/live example on how to mimic iOS text messages on AO3 without the need to use images. There's also a chapter on how to have emojis displayed on AO3 as well.
How to make Customized page deviders
Bored with the default page dividers? This is a tutorial/live example on how customize your page dividers with no images needed (though I do show you how you could use images if you wanted to do such a thing).
How to make invisible text (That can be highlighted)
This is a live example how to make invisible text that can only be seen by highlighting the text. Tutorial is included in text, and you can always leave comments about questions you may have.
MOBILE USERS: Sadly, this probably won't work for you, since highlighting in a mobile browser is different than web. I've tried correcting this, but have yet to find a solution.
How to make a rounded playlist
Original coding and design is from layouttest. I make no claims for it, just tweaked it so it will work on AO3.
How to create notebook lined paper on Ao3
This is a live example of my AO3 skin that allows the author to recreate the look of lined notebook paper in their work. To learn more about it, you can find the tutorial here.
Sticky notes on Ao3 without using images
This is a live example of my AO3 skin that allows the author to recreate the look of sticky notes (aka Post-Its) in their fic. To learn more about it, you can find the tutorial here.
How to make deadpool’s thinking thinking boxes on Ao3
This is a live example of my AO3 skin that allows the author to recreate the look of Deadpool's thinking boxes in their fic. To learn more about it, you can find the tutorial here.
How to make newspaper articles on Ao3
This is a live example of my AO3 skin that allows the author to recreate the look of a newspaper article in their work. To learn more about it, you can find the tutorial here.

Justice League identity reveal where they don’t know who Batman is and one day a bunch of them walk in on him just casually eating yogurt in the cafeteria with his cowl off. A bunch of them recognize him, a couple don’t, and they’re all shocked.
Turns out Batman didn’t realize none of them knew who he was, since it had taken him all of ten minutes and three google searches to put everyone’s secret identities together and he just assumed they had all figured it out by this point. Or maybe he had meant to tell them and then just forgotten. Either way, he regularly interacts with half of them outside of hero stuff and hasn’t bothered with the whole separate persona thing with them in years. Shouldn’t they really have figured this out by now? So what if he forgot? This is clearly on them.

In situations and headcanons and such where Bruce doesn't tell the justice league his identity, I feel like one of the most often cited reasons is that they'd then immediately connect all of his many waves of increasingly smaller vigilantes back to him.
But I'd like to think it doesn't happen like that.
Like, at some point, Nightwing has been on the team for years, and somehow, no one that didn't already know him as Robin has connected him back to Batman, but of course both Bruce and Dick think they know, because they have to, right?
But then Bruce's identity gets revealed while Dick's off world or something, but he gets filled in, so he assumes that his identity is blown too, right? Of course, once you know Batman is Bruce Wayne, it'd be easy to put together that Dick Grayson is Nightwing.
So then Bruce and Dick have to rush to the watchtower from some sort of Wayne family event one day, but there's no real need to put on their costumes yet, because the league already knows their identities.
Until...
Green Lantern, watching a young man that he's only ever seen through gossip magazines fiddle around in the watchtower: Hey, Bru-Batman, I know we found out your identity and all, but do you really think it's a good idea to bring your children into this? I mean, what if he gets hurt?
Dick, incredulous: You... you do know who I am, right?
GL: It's hard to not know who you are. I saw you on a magazine cover just the other day.
-long pause-
Dick: Bruce, when you used to complain that you work with idiots, I thought you were exaggerating.
-general sounds of outrage from the JL-

jason using guns to reclaim the trauma of his mother pointing a gun at his head
Guns have the most significance to Bruce, and I know that no writer’s intention with giving Jason guns is anything more than “Batman hates guns, so Jason uses them :O”. I really do get it. But I can’t help but feel like we’re missing Jason’s own experience in all of this. By this, I mean that Sheila Haywood held Jason at gunpoint right before he was beaten to death. His biological mother, someone who he trusted for so many reasons (his previous experience with a loving mother, her being a doctor and everything doctors represented to him), betrayed him, and he realized that the second he turned around to see her aiming that gun at him. It makes sense to me that Jason would associate guns with betrayal and emotional pain, so I feel like there’s more here than just “he uses guns to make Bruce upset”. Jason’s “betraying” Bruce the same way that he felt he was “betrayed” by him. I read it as symbolizing Jason throwing his vulnerability in Bruce’s face by forcing him to face his own fear. It’s the epitome of Jason to cope with waving around the pain he felt as a child by causing Bruce to look at part of what haunted him (Bruce) as a child.
To me, it fits in with my belief that Bruce has a tendency to make Jason’s death about himself. It makes sense to me that everyone assumes this is about Jason wanting to hurt Bruce, especially since no one actually knows what pointing a gun at a family member means to Jason.

Let Jason Grow Up
jason is a character with a clear moral line that gets compromised because of the "batfam" agenda (and im attempting to keep the word agenda as neutral as possible). i would say this is a problem for all of them, where instead of allowing them to BE their own characters, they're left to circulate around batman himself. it leaves them all floundering to have a personality, consistency, and most importantly, morals.
it shows worse with jason, because we know how he feels, we know he's intelligent, we know he's competent, and we know he specifically cares about his neighborhood, but we dont get to see it. instead, we watch his morals bend and stretch because he needs to fit in with everyone else, needs to fit in with bruce.
because i genuinely believe that if jason's character was left to grow, he never would have given up his crime boss title. it doesnt serve his morals or his goals to hand that over. a jason who is not full interested in reinvesting im his community doesnt quite make sense with how he views the world, and the people in it. the amount of work he would be able to do, if he stayed in control is insurmountable, and ive already talked about mob rule in gotham makes sense. point is, jason building community using dirty money is poetic and completely in line with what we KNOW his morals to be. he realistically knows wiping crime off the map cant be done, but can you weed out the monsters and set ground rules? yes, but only if you're the biggest, baddest, scariest bitch there is.
and to say he's selfish, or careless, or impulsive doesn't fit because he just isnt. that same person actively sought out people looking to imprisom him to save one man from the death penalty does not have strong ethics and doesn't care for people in general. and that's one example.
long winded rant cut short, if dc allowed hason to exist as himself, as a character that can grow and make decisions in line with HIS values amd not bruce's -- it would make for fantastic story telling and it'd be cool asf. the good guys could win, by getting down and dirty

The idea that Jason has a million safe houses doesn't entirely sit right with me so I like to think that he owns entire buildings and apartments and he lets the street kids and working girls and anyone else who needs a place to stay live there. I imagine a lot of people who work for him because they don't have a choice but don't want to hurt other people end up living in the apartments as supervisors, y'know settling disputes between neighbors, passing on messages to hood, looking after the little ones. Word gets around that Hood helps people get real jobs that help people and the company parties get a LOT bigger. They don't need to pay him because he gets all the money he needs by stealing from the rest of Gotham's criminal element and upperclass <3
Really funny to think that the bats try to break into one of his safe houses and instead of Jason it's a group of feral children with knives and women with stilettos as weapons. Unless it's one of the East End heroes, they know which safe houses have civilians in them

Hear me out
Wayne Family court of owls
Going FERAL
Can you imagine!? Martha and Thomas Wayne were part of the Court, and obviously Bruce is as well! He’s basically known as the Prince of Gotham anyway. What they don’t know is that he’s always been in line for the position as Voice of the Court.
When the Waynes die, the Talon is sent out to dispose of their killer. Bruce gets closure when the Talon brings him Joe Chill’s head.
Bruce is raised with the near constant protection of the Court (they cannot allow the Wayne name to die out) and when Dick’s parents fall in the circus… Bruce still takes him in. Defying the Court’s excited whispers of the Gray Son joining the ranks as a future talon, letting them know in no uncertain terms that he is now Bruce’s ward and thus untouchable.
Bruce presents Dick with proof of Zuccos… “disappearance” as a welcome home gift and introduces him to the world of the Court. How to manipulate high society and pull string behind the scenes to make the Court stronger, and Gotham a better, safer place.
Bruce never becomes the Batman. But his code name, before and after becoming the Voice of the Court, is still Batman. And Dick’s code name is Robin, now likewise under the Talon’s (Cobb) protection, and a menace to the criminal underworld because he has a penchant for going out into the streets in person instead of acting from the shadows like Bruce. (Poor Talon‘s got his hands full keeping both those idiots alive now).
And then comes Jason, who’s a street kid, and everything the Court would turn their noses up at— but their Voice takes interest in this one, too. And oh do they know by now how this story goes. (Cobb does not despair. He’s TALON. He’s above such silly things as despair. But BOY does he wish he could file for a vacation right now.)
While Dick is the charming circus boy turned court darling turned Robin turned Gray Son of Gotham, Jason is the gutter trash turned son of a billionaire turned youngest acolyte turned Heart of the Court. (Cobb refuses to acknowledge that he might actually like this firecracker of a kid. Wayne can shove his smug little grin where the sun don’t shine-)
I should probably stop now 😭

Here's what I think would fix Jason in comics. He needs like, two guys in crime alley who he always checks up on. It's not a big deal, neither of them are anyone important, just rando civilians, but whenever he's in town or there's a big disaster, he goes and checks on them. Say one's a teen who emancipated himself from a bad home situation but doesn't have a lot of common sense and is still figuring out how to live on their own. They kind of look up to him and are embarrassed about it. The other is an elderly woman whose entire family Gotham has taken from her, with several medical conditions, and who is unrelentingly mean to him, but silently worries. they must always be checked on. There is no theoretical 'they're better off without me'.
Just some consistent connections to the actual area he's supposed to care about, who ground him in the mundane world. People who genuinely need his help outside of his hero persona, and who care about him for who he is now.

I just realized, Batman is richer than god, and Deathstroke is a mercenary who fights for money, why doesn’t Batman just hire Deathstroke to work for the Justice League, I get that Deathstroke is a villain and all that, but it’s possible Batman would understand that it’s better having Deathstroke as an ally rather than an enemy, even if he doesn't realize this himself, it’s possible some members of the Justice League or Batfamily would convince him, and Deathstroke would probably follow the no killing rule if Batman paid extra
I kinda want to see this turned into a fic, maybe a Deathstroke redemption story or something of the like,

I love how Bruce tells Duke to guard the Cave & Duke goes "Yes, sir. You got it. Not a single goddamm person is getting into this Cave." Like he takes it so seriously that when the GREEN LANTERN shows up, Duke doesn't think "Hm. He probably has a good reason for being here. Maybe I should ask him?"
No.

I beg of you, more selkie Jason please 🥺. You hc about lil pup Jason saving dick was adorable. I need more, respectfully.
Gladly 💚💚
Jason retreats to the cave pools whenever he’s sacred/insecure and doesn’t resurface (apart for the occasional breath) for a long while. The first time it happens post finding out about his selkie heritage, Bruce thinks Jason must be sick and calls several vets and Leslie to cover the range of both human and seal diseases
Dick loves cuddling with Jason when he’s in his seal form (pretty sure I mentioned this before but it bears repeating ksksks)
One time when Dick is sad Jason looks like he bit on a lemon before draping his seal skin across Dick’s shoulders. Dick is too stunned and touched by the show of trust to stay sad much longer (mission accomplished)
Bruce has hours of footage of seal!Jason doing happy little spins in the cave pools and making little pup squeals. Every single video has at least three backups on different servers.
Bruce offers to have an actual pool installed for Jason to swim in (somewhere that’s not the caves) but Jason declines because the cave pools are perfect to hide.
At least one of the family take Jason to the ocean once a month minimum. Jason is too overwhelmed by the expanse of water he refuses to leave the car at all during the first trip. Dick takes him back a couple days later and just sits down with him in the shallows for an hour before Jason allows himself to shift. Later that day Bruce gets a short video to his phone that shows grainy footage of a grinning Dick diving through the waters with a wide eyed seal pup at his side. Alfred thinks Bruce is having a stroke because the man’s never worn such a big smile on his face before.
Alfred discreetly asks Leslie to test Jason’s blood for any deficiencies. Not much is known about Selkie physiology, so a lack of fresh seafood might be detrimental to his health. Thankfully that is not the case.
Dick tries getting Jason to do tricks with a ball exactly once. Jason insists he didnt know how strong his tail flip would kick the ball back in Dick’s face, but Dick can see the little shit laughing from where he’s nursing a bleeding nose.
The first time Bruce sees Jason waddling over the rough cave floor with his soft seal skin he panics so much he actually starts yelling for Alfred to “get down here right now!” and scoops the bewildered seal pup up in his arms to deposit him smack dab on the first flat and smooth surface he can find to inspect Jason for scrape wounds.
Jason eventually apologizes for the trick ball incident and proposes a peace offering by showing Dick some choreographies of swimmers performing together with the seals. Him and Dick end up learning an entire show and perform it for Bruce and Alfred for Dick’s birthday. (Dick misses the circus, and while this is very different from what he had once, this… this comes close. And nobody is in danger of falling)
Jason is hyper aware of his family’s inability to hold their breath for long and keeps close watch on them in the water, nudging them back to the surface when he considers it too long 🦭

How small must the world be for both Bruce and Tim to witness John and Mary Grayson's deaths
Or for 10-year-old Duke to crack the Riddler's puzzle before Batman swoops in and saves the day, long before his powers came into play
Or for Sheila Haywood to leave her son only to end up assisting his killer a decade and a half later
Not to mention the popular fanon concept of Jason knowing baby Damian in the League of Assassins
Now imagine how many other invisible strings could've tied them together
Like what if Tim and Jason went to the same school when Jason was Robin but all they shared was the occasional bump and "excuse me" in the busy halls
Or what if Babs was a tutor and helped an elementary-aged Steph finally understand her homework only for the Browns to cancel after a couple sessions because they couldn't afford it
What if the first person to buy Cass a hot meal was Kate on one of her travels
What if Alfred witnessed young Selina shoplifting groceries but chose to turn a blind eye
What if Jason lived on the same streets as the Row siblings and gave little Harper tips on how to use tools and defend her brother
What if Steph and Duke shared the same school bus, only he sat in the front while she was toward the back
What if the first person to teach Tim how to tie his shoes was Bruce at a gala because Jack and Janet were busy talking to someone important
What if Bette did a DNA test for fun and found a connection in Nanda Parbat but just assumed the results was faulty because she knew her whole family, right?
What if 8-year-old Dick, the day before his parents died, stayed at a cheap hotel near Crime Alley and found 4-year-old Jason wandering alone and said, "I'll be your big brother for tonight"
What if the universe knew they were made for each other and wouldn't rest until they realized it too
