These little scarlet honeyeaters or scarlet myzomela (Myzomela sanguinolenta) have been zipping around the bottlebrush for days! They live near our water tanks and are residents on our property. The brown female, shown here, is very different to the vibrant red males.

It’s finally getting warmer which means we’re back at the beach where the seagulls are sufficiently chased and the car is full of sandy paw prints. Perfect. 🌞

For anyone interested, I'm pinteresting and Tumblr blogging all the design themes and ideas we want to incorporate into our build. I think it's probably immediately clear what my aesthetic is: vintage! But not too vintage. Functional but not too modern. Homely. Classic. Heritage. Sustainable. Like a farm stay chateau with all the fittings. Fingers crossed we can put it all together! Used the #nikon750D to take some portrait shots of Leroy and Brown, two of our many visiting (at this point, resident) cockatoos! I experimented with a film edit afterwards and have to say I really liked the way the pictures turned out. It’s not hard to take a bad pic of these guys, they’re handsome men!

Climbed a tree to get this photo of an Australian goanna. Luckily with a long lens, it’s easy to get near enough for a decent photo without disturbing the creature you’re admiring — not even sure he/she knew I was there. I think this is a very young Perentie goanna (Varanus giganteus), the largest goanna native to Australia. I can’t be super sure.

We were visited on the property by our resident tawny frog mouth (Podargus strigoides) family including their new and very curious baby. We keep a respectful distance so not to disturb… thankfully @canonaustralia makes a decent long lens!
