Pointillism

Hi, everyone! Today we'll talk about a technique of painting called pointillism.

Pointillism tries to achieve a brighter image by using points of pure colors. If you look close, all that you see are points that make no sense. But, if you move far enough, your eyes will do the trick and the points will mix to create new colors.

Last picture is Waterloo Bridge by André Derain. You can see a high resolution image here. Try zooming in and zooming out. 

The creator of pointillism is George Seurat. His style wasn't really appreciated at the time he created it. His masterpiece is Sunday afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. He spend two years painting it!

Pixel art takes borrowed some ideas from pointillism. For example, look at these pictures. Pay attention to the shadows, the grass, the clothes, the sky and the houses.

Getting a Mario with Bitdraw (iPhone)

If you search in google images the string "8 bit" the search results will display a Mario Bros image in the top 2 images. This is due Mario Bros is a classic of 8-bits.

Now, BitDraw has a bitmap of 15px per 23px (because screen sizes reasons), but is perfect for an 8-bit Mario.

Did you finish your art work? Now what? Swipe with 2 fingers left to show the options menu, then save your bitdraw and finally touch the back button.

Do you want to view all your creations along your pixel artist life? if you do then touch "View gallery" button. If you want to share some of your bitdraws just do a long press over the bitdraw to share by choosing one sharing option. 

You can also remove from your gallery touching the delete button.

Share the pixel love

How are you doing, boys and girls? somebody tried drawing a nyancat on a wall of your room? Great! :D This time we would like to share with you some links related to pixel art. We hope these links inspire you and help you to get started. Have you ever tought that your home looks gray, or perhaps that you need to add a touch of color to that wall you feel is needing something.
