Uniforms of the Abbey of the Everyman - Gristol Edition
Combinations of canons and a bunch of my headcanons. A few notes:
-Counterfeit Overseer masks can be a potential liability for Overseers and they must be avoided. The genuine thing is a Tyvian Ore composite, and what comprises the rest is not entirely known to the general public. The formula is patented and is kept a secret from everyone bedsides the manufacturer. Counterfeit masks have some Tyvian Ore, but a great less amount, mixed with low quality brass. This inhibits its bullet/bolt stopping capabilities.
-Masks are expensive to produce. Each Overseer treats his mask like an extension of himself. More valuable than a blade or pistol, this masks not only protect Overseers from bolts and bullets, they also protect their identities. For better or for worse.
-There are two versions of the Standard Uniform: summer and winter weight. Southern Gristol Overseer units typically wear the summer weight variants due to the slightly warmer climate than its northern counterpart. North Gristian Overseer units typically wear the winter weight variants, as it is warranted by the more frigid and rainy climate.
-Warfare uniforms are made of a higher grade wool that is interwoven with silk from Wei-Ghon. This combination aids in protection against knives and also enemy swords, though to an extent that depends greatly on the strength of its weilder. This uniform is lighter than the standard Overseer garb. All of this in combination makes this uniform variant significantly more expensive to manufacture, so only select members of the Warfare Overseer Battalions throughout Gristol get this.
-Ceremonial uniforms are not available to the common Overseer. They are considerably ornamented, and used for parade and matrimonial purposes, along a few other select occasions. They must be turned back into their local Abbey issuing facility after the respective Overseer uses the uniform. Needless to say, they are expensive to manufacture and are much more limited in supply than the standard or even warfare uniform variant.
-The lining in each of these uniforms is water resistant, not water proof, so that the material is still breathable. It is a rubber fabric composite, as straight rubber was found to melt in the heat. This lining serves to prevent conditions such as hypothermia in the thick Gristol rain.
(Guys this is like the third time I have uploaded this, forgot the Abbey symbol on the mask the first time, then forgot the lineart version on the second time lol)

-- The Abbey of the Everyman --
“Yesterday an Overseer passed in the street near me, playing the strange music from the Abbey. Beneath his mask, I could not see his face as he turned the crank on his music box, but I could hear his voice muttering verses from the sacred texts.”

This poster cracks me up in retrospect
Tumblr media
Because in the original Dishonored it was just kind of creepy and played up the idea of Daud as a mysterious supernatural assassin, where the watch didn’t even have an image of him. But then if you play the dlcs you realize that everyone in Dunwall knows what Daud looks like. The random slaughterhouse workers you can free in Knife of Dunwall recognize you on sight, Abagail Ames launches into a buisness proposal 20 seconds after laying eyes on him, the non-lethal option in Eminent Domain (at least how I played it) is that you fall through a roof and there’s a random guy sitting there like “just the man I wanted to see!”
What I’m getting at here is that this conversation definitely happened:
Poster Artist: Alright, that’s the reward and the list of charges settled. For the portrait…uh…do any of you know what he looks like? Because, I mean, I sure don’t.
Watch Captain, who hired him to kill someone last month: Ha ha, no, why would I know that????
Noble, who hired him to kill someone last week: I’ve never seen this man in my life
Overseer, who got his ass kicked yesterday but doesn’t want to admit it: I’m pretty sure no has. Ever. We probably shouldn’t even bother to ask around.
Poster Artist, who saw him on a roof once but definitely isn’t a narc: …
Poster Artist: Yeah, ok, how about I just give him a mask?

Made a start on the Office of the High Overseer; similarly, as with the Hound Pits, I’ll be creating headcanon as for the contents of the building which are inaccessible in-game. There is an announcement room you can access from the yard which has no internal entrance (despite it being clear there is a door outside, just not inside hh,) for example.
There are also windows apparent inside the building; I am unsure how to tackle them. My first thought is internal-courtyard, tho a friend suggested they could be viewing windows... we will see.

The Hound Pits Pub - FLOOR PLAN
I found mapping out the Hound Pits that it utilises some occasional dead-space where the interior of which is just voided, for this purposed I just removed the dead-space, as well as adding the infamous third floor.
Piero’s workshop was part of the structure until the very end. I realised it’d be more ergonomic to have it absent from the floor plan, and I am happy with the result.
The most difficult part was finding a scale for the Hound Pits. As it is the HUB for the game, there is no map (publicly available?) to detail the floor plan accurately. Thus I resorted to creating a rudimentary measuring system with bottles…  It was not at all accurate however it was ultimately a good method to springboard off of.
The aim of this project was to create a floor plan for the pub in the style of Dishonored 2′s maps to potentially use for the new 2d20 ttrpg. Goal achieved?

WIP - Can you tell what it is yet?  The screenshots give it away, of course!  I have.... either “a problem” or “an eye for detail.”  I counted the effin steps!! All of them! Not just the ones pictured.
I will need to make it smaller to fit on all four floors.... I am very tempted to bring it back across the pond and use the European levelling system (First Floor=Ground Floor, Second Floor=First Floor, etc) just to add my own kick to it!  But after my last post I thought it’d be prevalent to show the level of detail/quality I’m going for!

ATTENTION DUNWALL CITIZ-
Aah, who am I kidding.  This blog has been “dead” for some time - but I’ve thought of a way to possibly revitalise it?
While Tumblr is far from my main social media site these days (I’ve defaulted to twitter and reddit,) I would like to still be active in the Dishonored community! How can I do that? Well I’m going to be DMing the new Dishonored TTRGP soon with a group of friends, I don’t think they’re interested in streaming/doing a podcast at this stage in life (we might not even be that entertaining, so no point entertaining that idea right now,) but:
Making assets! I like to have props and maps for my tables. While Corona is big, I have been known to make most of my paper props digitally - thusly, would any one be interested in any maps I might upload? Either or, I will probably share some! I like to think I have an attention to detail...

So with that, I guess we’ll see what happens. As for headcanons; my ask box isn’t exactly taut. 1 headcanon was sent between 2018 and now... as well as someone asking for where to find in-game items; not my scene, buddy! So they’ll stick. The name may stick. We’ll see, we’ll see.  Equally, let me know what you think?
Cool, thanks, bye!  ((Stay safe! “I don’t want to catch the plague, do you?”))

Crovo Headcannons
-Often feels misplaced in high society, and never feels comfortable in fancy clothes.
-Loves animals, and talks to them a lot.
-Cried when he held Emily for the first time. Who knew he could love someone so small, so much?
-Says he’s above gossiping, but low-key gossips about his co-workers in the Palace Guard.
-Too prideful to lighten his Serkonan accent.
-Bisexual.
-Complains about how dreary and cloudy Dunwall can be & is sometimes is found laying on furniture in a sunbeam while relaxing.
-Really hated people asking and joking if he and the Empress had a “unprofessional relationship”.
-Used to call Jessamine by the nickname “Jess” whenever the two were alone or in more casual circumstances. Calls Emily by “Em” unless the situation is too formal or he has to “full-name” her like dad’s do.
-Never really learned how to talk to nobles, and nobles never really get used to his blunt honesty.
-Wears bifocals while doing paperwork.
-The older he gets, the more he curses when he shouldn’t, much to Emily’s embarrassment.
-Was plagued by an identity crisis in the early years of Emily’s rein.
-After encountering Plague Rats, Weepers, and sewers, far too often does he feel like he can’t get clean, no matter how much soap he uses, how many baths he takes, or how raw his skin can get. Sometimes he swears he can feel germs on his skin, but Sokolov belives that it is his mind that is ill.
-Knew a kid his own age back in Karnaca who could do cool card tricks for some coin. They were good friends, however the boy disappeared, and Corvo didn’t see him until the day Jessamine died. Back then, Daud went by his birthname, and Corvo doesn’t recognize him.

"The city's gone to the dogs."
"Indeed, I believe so."
Who'd've thunk that my first post in ages would be about the death of Tumblr.
So obviously, I've not been very active here. But I have other side blogs, art blogs, etc I post to as well as my main. But this is a edged response to the current climate.
Hope y'all look after yourselves, choffers! May we meet for whiskey and cigars on golden sands.

A survey for Dishonored fans:
Fans of the Dishonored series!
I am a graduate student and a longtime fan of the Dishonored games, and I am fascinated by the new characters and identities in the most recent games. I seek to learn more about fellow fan responses to the games, as well as activity within the Dishonored fandom.
Would you please consider taking 15 minutes to take this anonymous survey?  I will use the survey results to learn about public perception of diversity in video games. The information will be included in papers I write for my graduate classes, which may develop into a doctoral dissertation, and the information may be shared in conference presentations and in journal publications such as Game Studies or Transformative Works and Cultures.
If you are over 18 years of age, you may take this survey. This survey will take about 15 minutes to complete, and you may skip any question. The survey collects no identifiable information about you and I set it so it does not record IP addresses.
Your perspectives and your experiences on the Dishonored franchise are important, and I thank you for considering completing this survey!

“When Kirin Jindosh became the Duke's grand-inventor, he had the money to build his luxurious machine-house. When asked, Abele refused Jindosh's offer to aid him in building his new Palace thus the Duke feared, Kirin would add these strange mechanical features, he used. As a man who likes power, while power meaning control, Abele didn't liked the idea of visitors changing the Position of rooms and interior objects with the pulling of a lever.”
