Just popping in with a(nother) request to please spam our inbox with quotes from any and all fics! Every submission is welcome and will be added to the queue (we shuffle it every time we add new quotes to mix things up!)
We've been posting 3 quotes per day, but we may have to reduce if we don't see more submissions come in (with this schedule, we'll be completely out of quotes in 11 days...)
As someone who watched a certain breakup unfold live back in the day on Castle and was not happy with how it played out, I can only hope for a more gratifying storyline and outcome now for Chenford.
Alexi, I hope you have learned from past mistakes đ
"I know you care about meâlove me,â she corrects herself, smiling at the word. âAnd I don't doubt that you want to be with me or anythingâ"Â
"Lucy."
"Right⊠I just⊠I've never been in love before. Not really, you know? I had relationships before, but you were the one that changed everything for me.â She smiles softly, fidgeting with her hands. âI know what you had with Isabel was special, and I had a front-row seat to how much you loved her, and how much losing her nearly destroyed you. But I guess I always thought she was the one that got away for you. The love of your life nothing else would compare to."
Lucy feels bare. It's the ultimate hidden part of her that she's sharing with him, and it feels like a rock has been lifted from her chest. Whatever happens next, the truth is out. Her doubts and insecurities are all on the table.

I move through the world with the heartbroken (my longings stay unspoken)
The first time Tim spoke to Lucy again after the parking lot was six days later. Somehow, they had managed to avoid each other until today, and he wasnât sure if he should love or hate it. But he couldnât dwell on that too much right now, not when he knew sheâd just come back from an intense standoff with a suspect that left said suspect dead and her with a bullet in the vest. Again.Â
And even though he wanted, hell, needed to keep his distance from her because he didnât deserve to be in her presence anymore, he couldnât stop himself from checking in with her anyway. Because he would always care and worry about her and love her with everything he had. Itâs why he walked away in the first place.
You want the best for the people you love, and he wasnât what was best for Lucy.
âAre you okay?â
She stuttered to a halt, turning her head slightly to glance up at him.
âYeah, Iâm fine.â
He could see that she wasnât, though. She was clearly still rattled about what had happened earlier that day. Or maybe it was him she was skittish and uncomfortable around now, not that he could blame her for that.
âLucy-â
âI said Iâm fine, Sergeant Bradford. Donât pretend like you suddenly care about my wellbeing.â
âWhatâs that supposed to mean?â
âYou know exactly what that means. You donât get to worry about me anymore. You walked away from me, so you have to live with the consequences. Now, if youâll excuse me, I have to get back out on patrol. Sir.â
Before he could even utter a single syllable in response, she had turned on her heels and was gone.
Tim looks on, horrified, as Lucy adds a sliced pickle to each of the oreos and then puts the other half back on top, sandwiching the pickle between the two halves of the cookie.
He takes a step back from her but can't bring himself to go too far. His forehead pinches together, and he says, "If I have to watch you eat that, I'm going to be sick."
Lucy tilts her head, smirks at him. "Don't watch then." She bumps him with her hip and laughs as if it's the most obvious answer. And then, calling his bluff, she eats the abomination in a single bite.
When Tim physically retches, Lucy rolls her eyes. "And you say I'm the dramatic one."
"I think this allows me to be a little dramatic. That is disgusting, Lucy."
Lucy eats another oreo, smiles widelyâtoo wide almost, and totally teasingâlike she takes joy in his disgust, and says, "You really shouldn't knock it before you try it. It's really good." She rubs her hand over her belly. "The baby likes it."
Somehow he doesn't believe that. Tim juts his chin in her direction. "Oh yeah, how can you tell?" he asks.
"Because she is going crazy right now. Feel." Lucy steps to him, grabs his hands, and places them against her stomach. He feels a strong kick against his palm.
Lucy places her hands on his chest and slides them up and over his shoulders, lacing her fingers together behind his neck. She's smug. She leans forward on the balls of her feet, and he waits until the absolute last second to turn his head so her lips land on his cheek.
He whispers in her ear, "Did you ever think maybe she's telling you to knock it off?"

The truth is, Lucy kind of has a crush on Tim.
It sounds so juvenile to say it that way, but itâs also fairly accurate. After all, how can she not? Heâs hot. Not to mention the fact that beneath his gruff exterior is a kind and caring heart. Itâs not like itâs serious or anything, and she has no doubt it will pass once sheâs not riding with him every day. But she likes him.
So when he tells her he doesnât think she has what it takes to be a UC, Lucy decides she absolutely canât pass up an opportunity to simultaneously prove her point, mess with him, and maybe test the waters just a little.

âYou wonât know until you try. And you know you think heâs cute.â
Tim? Cute? That wasnât exactly the first word that came to mind. Incredibly stubborn, maybe. Old school chivalrous, grumpy yet shockingly caring, a control freak and a schemer, and one of the best cops she knew. But cute? Lucy looked back at him with a frown.
Not cute. But he did have ruggedly sculpted cheekbones, intense blue-gray eyes, and a mouth that rarely smiled. When it did, it was⊠nice. Like heâd opened a door to a secret part of himself that almost never saw the sunlight.
âYou totally just spaced out staring at him, didnât you?â
âWhaâ no!â Lucy protested, knowing that Tamara would probably know she was lying. âOkay, do you have anything helpful to say? Because my lunch break is almost over.â

She stares at him with a look he never wants to remember â pain and heartache, fear, and a tiny bit of hope. Hope that he wonât do it.
But he does.

Officer Chen must notice the overwhelmed expression on his face because she tells him âI know Sergeant Bradford seems scary, but trust me he has good heart. He wants to make sure he trains only the best officers, and he does. I know because he trained me.â She adds with a satisfied smile and an almost dance like twist of her body.
Maybe she can help him survive his training. âAny tips for getting on his good side?â
âYeah, donât expect it to happen anytime soon.â
âHow long did it take you?â
âAbout a month, but then again Iâve always been the exception with him and not the rule.â

Evie gets cleaned up, weighed and measured, put in a tiny little diaper after passing all her tests with flying colors, and then swaddled up in a blanket with a little pink hat on her head all while Lucy gets cleaned up and taken care of herself after the after birth.
The midwife hands Evie to Tim without any warning, leaving him dumbfounded and overwhelmed as his gaze flickers back and forth between Lucy and the little girl in his arms. The soft call of his name pulls him out of the fog of overwhelming, all-consuming love, and then he walks over to carefully settle Evie on Lucyâs chest again after pressing a soft kiss to the girlâs cheek. She calms almost instantly at the feel of her motherâs skin and warmth.
Wordlessly and in complete awe, Tim sinks into the chair next to Lucyâs hospital bed, his eyes glued to the sight in front of him. Thereâs tears in his eyes again as he listens to Lucy murmur soft words to their daughter before she eventually guides her to her breast with Sarahâs help. He scoots impossibly closer, carefully props his chin up on Lucyâs shoulder, and watches as Evie latches on for the first time and starts suckling as if sheâd done it countless times before.
âThatâs amazing,â Tim rasps out after a few moments.
Lucy offers s little grin and turns her head slightly to look at him.
âFeels weird,â she admits, chuckling softly.
âGood or bad weird?â
âBest kind of weird.â
He nods and smiles, dropping a kiss to her shoulder. His brows furrow in confusion when he feels her scoot away from him moments later.
âWha-â
âGet up here, Tim,â Lucy smiles, tilting her head encouragingly.
The fact that every time someone says something negative about a fic, itâs on bloody âanonymousâ because these cowards arenât even brave enough to reveal who they are.
If you donât like something, STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM IT AND MOVE ON. No one wants you to read anyway if all you do is leave negativity behind. Iâm so damn tired of this shit.
We write fics for free, show writers some love and respect for putting their works out there. Itâs a lot more than just clicking a few buttons to hit post - we put our hearts and souls into these stories, so please just be kind.
ITâS ALL FUN AND GAMES UNTIL YOU REALIZE THE RELATIONSHIP OF TWO FICTIONAL CHARACTERS OWNS YOUR SOUL AND YOU CANâT GET YOUR LIFE BACK AND NOTHING MATTERS ANYMORE
The way I almost donât want to watch live on Tuesday (Wednesday) because I fear my heart canât handle it. That sneak peek alone just totally crushed me đ
Tim is her anchor â heâs always there â and his presence alone can and has pulled her out of some of the deepest, darkest holes sheâs ever been in.
