Killian absentmindedly watched a patch of light on the ceiling of Emma’s bedroom, the silver oval shape fixed to the spot above them. It illuminated a blemish on the plastering of the ceiling that made Killian wonder if Emma’s apartment wasn’t some sort of metaphor for her life, the daytime showing the grandeur and superfluous life she led at Graham’s behest, and the innocently pale moonlight highlighting the rot in the darkness of her marriage. In truth, the fact that Emma made no secret of her distaste at her marriage just spurred Killian on to hold her tighter.

Killian wasn’t even sure if Emma felt the same, but what he was sure of, was, that for the last few hours she had been chatting, her fingers idling in the soft curls of his chest hair, sometimes slipping beneath the sheet at his waist in exploration of what was at the end of the line of hair there, he would listen to her forever. He couldn’t make head nor tail of his emotions, not only for the simple fact that Emma was a Beta, but also because no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t shake the feeling she was something more.

Will had warned him about this, and maybe it was because Killian had never fucked anything outside of his toys when he wasn’t in a relationship. He might be an Alpha, but Killian was also a man of honour. Will might like to fuck everything that moves but Killian was more interested in finding that special someone who would complete both his heart and his soul, ultimately a mate who would know him better than he knew himself. Of course, it was absurd to think Emma could be that person, but she was addictive and he never wanted to be hooked on anyone else.

“Why did you come here tonight?” Emma asked softly as she rolled in Killian’s arms until she was on her stomach. He raised his arm a little to accommodate her in his hold, enjoying the warmth of her skin on his fingertips when he ran dragged them over the ridges of her spine.

“What do you mean, love?” Killian asked her innocently. “You know why I came.”

“Yeah, but,” Emma began, her fingers combing through the hairs on his chest. “I mean,” she stammered shyly.

“You mean, I wasn’t supposed to be here until tomorrow?” Killian offered with a smirk.

“Yeah,” Emma nodded. “Not that I’m complaining.”

“Well that’s good to know,” Killian smiled proudly, his hand tracing the curve of her shoulder. “I’d hate to think I wasn’t doing my utmost to thoroughly please you.”

“Mmm,” Emma hummed with a daydream smile but that faded as quickly as his words had sunk in.

She had waited her entire life for someone like Killian to come along and sweep her off her feet. Alpha or not, she was sure they had some sort of connection. There had never been an opportunity for her to date as she grew up, and because of her illness, a lot of the time she was unable to attend the many social events that the Humbert’s so graciously invited her to. Maybe it was why she had so eagerly agreed to marry Graham when he had proposed to her, knowing she had no other choice.

Maybe it was why, for the first time in her life, right now, in Killian’s arms, she felt like she had a choice.

David Nolan as the Dark One would, I'm convinced, be the first Dark One to hide his nature from everyone. Trying to fight the darkness on his own or find a way to rid himself of it, but inevitibly failing, like all the Dark Ones eventually do, and letting it slowly and painfully consume him whole. Falling deeper and deeper into the endless void. Out of stubborness and intent to be selfless at first, but the longer it goes on, the more his reasoning becomes false and self-deceiving, the darkness pushing him to commit to the lie more and more, convincing him that no one will understand, no one is powerful enough to even consider. Playing on his fears, his insecurities.

I've been trying to decide how to reply to this. It's not mean, hateful, or rude, which I appreciate, thank you, but.. also, does my defending myself matter? People will believe what they want to believe, no matter who is right in any given argument.

Though.. is anyone ever right in any given argument.. especially when the argument is opinions?

I guess I'll say my peace, and leave it. If someone reads this and decides I'm wrong in my logic and wants to learn me something, I'll listen. But I will ignore/delete any further hateful comments. Life's too short for hate, y'all. I love you.

Anyway.

The fic in question is 'Nails'. The upset is about me tagging the relationship Swanfire.. which I do not understand, since I wrote about Swanfire. Actually, here's a comparison of Nails and Beaches- another fic of mine:

'Beaches' - it's a CS fic, Emma left Killian, it's her POV, Killian is mentioned but isn't a character, I tagged CS, it's not a happy ending, I warned it wasn't a happy ending. Neal isn't mentioned at all, I didn't tag him at all.

'Nails' - it's a SF fic, Emma left Neal, it's her POV, Neal is mentioned but isn't a character, I tagged SF, it's not a happy ending, I warned it's anti-Swanfire. Killian isn't mentioned at all, I didn't tag him at all.

I tagged SF in a SF fic. And people are mad at me for that. I don't understand, but I'm prepared to listen - even to the mean ones if they have a point - but this'll be my last reply on this subject. If someone convinces me that I'm in the wrong here, I'll change the tag on ao3.

For the record.. I'm not against anyone for being into any ship. If a ship makes someone happy, by all means, be happy, enjoy that ship. There's room for us all. You don't have to defend yourself for enjoying something. Just be unapologetically you.

If you dislike Neal, and wanna see Emma walking away from that relationship quite intentionally, I have a short OS that seems to be upsetting the SF community.. oops?

For years, I've heard some quote about how.. if you don't have haters, you aren't doing it right? Measuring success by how many people hate you? Something like that. Well, looks like I'm a step up on the ladder of success!

Honestly, I don't enjoy angering or upsetting people, but as a stoic, I find the silver lining. I must be a better writer than I give myself credit for, since I can apparently elicit such negative feelings. And it does seem to be true, the most successful people have haters and lovers in equal measure.

So, thank you for hating me. I don't hate you, if that matters at all. I hope you have wonderful days, weeks.. lives. Everything your hearts desire, is all I want for you 😘
