he would be so irritated by her at first because why is this weird eccentric girl following him around claiming he is someone called sunjae, calling him out and yelling at him yet looking at him fondly and telling him to be careful of what he does so it becomes the reason he gets intrigued by her and ends up being the one who follows her around instead and knowing im sol, her love would be so great that she ends up loving him into an entirely different narrative because all he ever needed was some love and getting taken care of

Now I just had a weird idea and I need opinions. How do you think Ryu Shioh would feel about Im Sol? Like somehow things go wrong and she finds herself with Ryu Shioh . i'm back to fixate on this moment, again.

look at how sunjae's expression completely transforms once he realizes that sol DOES love him as much, (if not more than) he loves her. that he's not just a problem to be rid of, for her; not an uncomfortable experience, or a traumatic memory.

he's wonderstruck at this epiphany — you can see his whole face soften, his mouth tighten as he chokes back tears, his eyes sweeten (and sober) into dark honey. the only girl he's ever loved actually loves him BACK: has gone against fate to try and save him.

what is death in the face of such commitment?

i marvel at the spare beauty of this confession: it's not ornate, or flowery, or overly elaborate. it simply is — just like sunjae. just like his love for sol.

"please keep liking me," he says. "if i die saving you, that's fine with me." such plain, earnest sentences — yet staggering in their immensity. this is the simple, sweeping grace of sunjae's confession — it doesn't need to be dressed in pretty words. all it needs is to exist.

this is what sunjae means: live with me, love with me, and dying will be worth it. it will have been a privilege to die because of you — my last moments will have been in service of my love. all my time was yours anyway.

this, followed by the gentlest of all kisses, to seal their unspoken promise. a kiss they will both remember — because their universes finally align.

I can’t shake off just how beautiful the confession scene was. Sun Jae, in the literal face of impending doom, learns not only when he’s going to die but why and although we see that he struggles to grasp the concept of dying, he finds a modicum of solace on Sol, and instead chooses to focus on her. Sun Jae understands that he died saving her/protecting her, and that this whole time she’s been there for him. She’s already seen him die and chose to literally travel in time to save him, what more proof of her love for him could he possibly ask for?

With this, he just says ‘don’t run away from me. Please just like me’ because truly that’s all he wants, Sol is all he’s ever wanted for him and since now he knows that his feelings are reciprocated and that he’ll eventually die… why not just give in to their feelings while they can?

Sun Jae writing Sudden Shower for Sol and fulfilling his unspoken promises to her over and over again in every timeline is extremely beautiful and gutwrenching to see. Their dating college era may be ephemeral but I’m sure it’ll only make Sun Jae want to wait for Sol even more. All I’m hoping for is a good ending for these two who have gone through a lot for each other
