creation myth
by wooowriter
Summary:
The numbers tick up, slowly at first, but with speed increasing by the moment like a foot pressed harder and harder against a gas pedal. Views, subscribers, likes, followers. The numbers tick up outside too, article after article detailing the spread, the infected, the little that’s known. COVID and the shutdowns it brings.
The world changes. It doesn’t stop changing and, in the centre of it all, is Dream.
It’s Dream and his shape in the corner of the couch while George scrolls apartment listings, chiming in to remind him there’s no rush but he should maybe have a couple options so you can jump on them right away when everything’s, like, normal again. There’s always an unsung if things are ever normal again. And it’s Dream in the doorway of his room and filling his headphones with laughter and ideas and dumb jokes, filling his chest with warmth and familiarity and comfort. A constant, as reliable as his own shadow.
Or, George moves to America pre-pandemic.

daisies, daisies
by snowdreamr
Summary:
“Good morning,” Dream says, rubbing sleep away from his eyes. The movement rides his shirt up by his waist, letting a sliver of skin show. “Happy Valentine’s day. Did you take your birth control?” George nods, even though Dream can’t see him. He rests his elbows on the table and his chin in his hand. “Just did,” he says, for good measure. His eyebrows shoot up. “Why? Have any plans for today?”
On secrecy and patience. On learning how to embrace the unexpected.

make a scene (it's your set)
by dangergranger & shadeofblue (jarofhearts)
Summary:
It didn’t sit right with George that Dream would be punished because of something he had done. What would be the harm, anyway, if they let people believe it? "If it will get you that much shit, then just don't tell them,” he said. “Things blow over eventually, right?" Dream cocked his head to the side. "What do you mean, not tell them? They think we're together - this is not something I can push under the rug.”George gestured aimlessly with his hand. It made perfect sense to him. "Why not? I mean, people do it all the time. No comment. Plausible deniability."
Or: George goes partying, sleeps with a guy named Clay, and takes an adorable selfie with his cat that kinda breaks the internet. A few days later, Dream enters the picture.

lovesick (all over your bed)
by starsgaze (snowdreamr)
Summary:
“And— there we go!” Dream says again, a childish smile evident in his tone. George can’t help but smile too, even chuckle faintly, giving his state away. Dream’s hands fall from his sides. “You— ugh, you’re awake?”
George face-plants right into Dream’s chest, limbs heavy with tiredness, as a groan emerges from the depths of his chest. “No. ‘M asleep. Mimimi…”
“You were awake this whole time?” Dream asks. George hums a lazy affirmation. “And you didn’t think of letting me know so I didn’t have to walk you to the room?”
“Mm. No,” George argues. “I like it when you walk me.”

there is a glorious sunrise
by jack_not_found
Summary:
Every evening, right before dinnertime, Dream shows up at his door with a giant smile and an invitation to join him for dinner, and no matter how many times George begs off–usually using work as an excuse, taking advantage of the fact that Dream has no idea what he actually does for his job–Dream keeps coming back. He feels bad turning him down, and a voice in his head that sounds a lot like his mother reminds him that he can’t hide away from his problems forever, but at this point, it almost feels like he’s too late. Like he’s said no so many times that agreeing would turn into some huge deal and it would be uncomfortable and George would have to move again.
or, george moves to florida on a whim to escape a painful breakup. instead, he finds a place he can call home and a person who shows him how to be happy again.

The Search For His Goddess
by Dayglade
Summary:
Poseidon and Aphrodite always play this game, making themselves mortal and trying to find each other. Thousands of years later, you'd think they'd have tired of it by now...
As a human, Poseidon-- or as he's more commonly known, Dream-- spends his days playing Minecraft and making videos with his friends. He's more-or-less made peace with the knowledge that he won't be seeing his goddess any time soon, but who needs her when he has his online friend George to gush over and secretly pine for?
Or Dream is Poseidon and George is an asshole

Yours to Keep
by snowdreamr
Summary:
“Hi,” Dream says, smiling without teeth. “Who are you?”
Mark frowns, eyes flicking between the two men like he thinks he missed a chapter or two. George can’t blame him. “Uh— I’m Mark.”
George beats Dream to talk. “This is my friend I told you about,” he explains, leaning further into Dream, purposely avoiding his eyes. He feels the grip on his waist tighten. “Guess I found him.”

Siren Eyes (Epic Skies)
by MoniFoundLove
Summary:
The boy is looking back at him from across the cove. His eyes are dark, pupils narrow like a cat's. His ears are slightly pointed but mostly human in appearance and in his mouth, held between two rows of very, very sharp and white fangs, a fish.
He watches Dream for a second more before ducking his head and diving into the darkness below. Before he disappears fully, a fanned tail surfaces and slaps the water. The birds and fish return to pick up the scraps George left behind.
or, DNF but it's siren!George

imagine being loved by me
by voided_space
Summary:
George has always been warned to keep away from the woods, the ancient magic lurking there swallows travellers into its depths and never lets them go. It becomes hard to stay away when a stranger with a shock of curly, honey-coloured hair catches his interest, and a name kept secret may be the only thing preventing George from falling prey to the faes' tricks.

86bpm (Best Part of Me)
by snowdreamr
Summary:
Salty tears welled up in Dream’s eyes and a wide smile shone on his face. His daughter was in his arms, giggling adorably, and swatted his cheek.“Dada,” she repeated, and it rang beautifully. It resonated like a perfect symphony—a sound of the utmost complexity, turning Dream’s insides into cotton. “I love you, princess,” he whispered, pinching her little nose. Then, he turned around and headed for the door. But before he got there, his daughter said something else. Or, well, she meowed something else. He ran back towards the crib, and in the very same place where he’d left his human baby less than five seconds ago… he found a kitten.
Dream’s long path towards building a family.
