My Thoughts:

This book was such an emotional rollercoaster for me. It had fluff, it had romance, it had angst, and it had the perfect amount of spice. It also had some of my favourite characters ever as well as so many cute relationships between lovers, siblings and friends. Saying this, it did have some parts that really annoyed me and characters that I despise so much.

Speaking of characters that I hated and parts that annoyed me, what is a better place to start than with Prince Phillip and Queen Mary. These two have no right to tell Henry who he can and cannot love because of their gender. The whole confrontation really pissed me off, especially when Mary tried to get Henry to date a girl to prevent the family from getting a bad reputation. However, she was instantly proved wrong by the UK residents camping outside the palace and holding signs showing how much they loved and supported Henry. So Mary maybe just shut up, yeah? The UK's reaction to Alex and Henry's relationship is quite possibly one of my most favourite parts of the book.

June and Bea are the best sisters ever. June stuck around in the White House to keep an eye on Alex because she knew how he would not take care of himself properly and would drown himself in work if she did not intervene and force him to do something with her. I also love how they make fun of the stories that the press puts out about them together. And I love how Bea is so supportive of Henry, especially when he came out. She provided a source of comfort and hope for him which is so admirable and something that every closeted person needs.

Alex and Henry had one of the best relationships I've ever read. Casey managed to interweave Henry's inner insecurity about the relationship into their dynamic in such a perfect way, especially when Alex confessed his love to Henry, and Henry ran off. It showed just how scared Henry was about being who he actually was and loving who he actually loves because of how it was seen by the royal family. But I loved how he finally became who he actually is through the love and support of the people who actually loved him for who he is and not who he is supposed to be.

But her career depends on it, and when she meets gorgeous producer Jack, Abby begins to wonder if this job might not be so bad after all...

My Thoughts:

I did not like this book. At all. The style of writing annoyed me, the content bored me and the main character seemed like a bit of a pushover and seemed to be morally grey. It is not the type of book you should read if you are looking for the next great romance book, but rather if you want something that is a mindless easy read, much like the dating shows it is based off of.

This only got two stars because there was chemistry between Abby and Jack which was visible in the writing about them and their relationship was kind of cute but other than that it just was not for me. I even debated not finishing it at one point because I just couldn't stand it but I hate not finishing books even more than I hated this book. I will not be reading this again and I might resell it or donate it. A pointless read for me, unfortunately.

It was just so cheesy and the ending was so boring and generic but also so cringey. I shudder just thinking about it. This was the first book I have read by Sandy Barker and I have heard great things about her work but this has just put me off completely from reading any other of her books. Thank goodness I got this book on discount because if I had bought it at full price I think I might actually be very angry. No playlist for this because I can't bring myself to even think about it. It was on the same level as Forever by Judy Blume for me.

My Thoughts:

I WAS RIGHT ABOUT HER! I WAS RIGHT ABOUT GRACE! She is finally gone from James's life and he can finally be with the right person for him. I hate that he was with her technically against his will because she had him under a spell using her bracelet. Every guy she had been with had been under her control to fall in love with her which is why Matthew kissed her in the first book. I have never liked her and hopefully she is gone now. Hopefully.

Ok this book had the MOST annoying ending. As in I finished reading it and was like what was that. Cassandra why must you play with my heart about this? Let Cordelia and James be in love with each other and actually be together!

Anyway, back to the review. I loved this book. It lost a star because of how it ended but other than that everything was spot on for me. The character development, the plot points, the plot twists, the relationship dynamics, the relationship developments. Everything.

One thing that was a bit strange for me because it seemed to be borderline necrophilia in my opinion was Lucie and Jesse's relationship. Jesse is a ghost, therefore he is dead. And Lucie is still alive and in love with him. Yes, she is trying to bring him back to life, but still. Bit weird.

MATTHEW. My beloved boy. If anyone couldn't already tell, Matthew is my favourite character in this series. He is put through so much in these books: the silent pining for Cordelia, the alcoholism issue etc, yet he still manages to be full of happiness and support for his friends even though he himself is struggling. His humour is just on another level and I love that about him.

But this book is yet another great read from Cassandra Clare. I think I'm yet to find a book that I didn't fall in love with from page one by her and I hope I never do. I love them all and I have done for many years. I need the next one to come out soon but the release date keeps getting pushed back and I need to know what happensssssssssssss

My Thoughts:

Where to start with this total and utter rollercoaster of a book. There were characters I loved, there were characters I hated. There were plot points I loved, and there were plot points I found annoying. It gave me such a mixture of emotions that I can't actually tell whether I enjoyed it or not. This was a book that I ended up having to stop reading at times to stop myself screaming at some of the characters for their stupidity or cluelessness. So let's get into these conflicting areas because this is going to get interesting.

Let's start with the characters I loved. First we have quite possibly one of the best characters in this whole series: Anna Lightwood. I love the way that Cassandra portrayed her as a character. She was strong-willed, independent, focussed, and not to mention a feminist and someone who was not afraid to go after what she wanted, whether it be who she loved or what she wore. I loved how her character was the complete opposite to what society in the early 1900s expected from a young woman. Second we have Matthew Fairchild. When I say I love this man. He is such a unique character especially with his fashion sense and his sense of humour. He is the perfect parabatai for James and quite possibly my favourite character in the series so far. Special mentions of other character I loved go to Cordelia Carstairs, Lucie Herondale and basically the rest of the Merry Thieves.

And now onto the characters I didn't like. Surprisingly we have James. James is kind of neutral but leans slightly towards the dislike side of the spectrum purely for how clueless he is about some things *cough* Cordelia. He does redeem some of the stupid things he has done at the end of the book when he marries Cordelia to not let her be scandalised, but then he agrees to still see Grace even though he is getting married to someone else. But the character I hated the most had to be Grace Blackthorn. I despise her. She says she loves James then gets engaged to Charles Fairchild. Logical right? Then she tells James that she actually loves him and not Charles and wants to see him on the side. Like stop using different people to get your way? There's also something about her character that seems so off and just suspicious. I think she has some sort of ulterior motive to be completely honest. Something about her just doesn't feel right.

Some of this plot was just amazing. Well majority of the plot to be completely honest. The only plot points I didn't like were the ones surrounding Grace in all honesty. What a surprise! But everything else was just gripping and eye-catching and I loved it from the first word I read. This book would have been a five star rating had it not been for Grace.

My Thoughts:

This book is by far my favourite in the series. It has some spice, some sadness, some happiness, some heartbreak, some angst, basically a bit of everything and that just makes my head and my heart very happy because I like being taken on emotional rollercoasters with books.

I think all my tears are used whenever I read this. From when the parabatai bond breaks to when Will finds Tessa I'm sobbing with sadness, and then those tears turn into happy tears when it's revealed that Jem is a Silent Brother and in fact not dead, which continue to be happy tears until the epilogue. Then it's back to sad tears when Will dies and Tessa leaves her family because it hurts too much but then it's straight back to happy tears when Jem meets Tessa and is no longer a Silent Brother and is cured. The emotions the characters portrayed and went through were so raw and realistic that it was almost beautiful in a way. But I've still not forgiven Cassandra for making me believe that Jem was dead for a segment of this book. Nobody can mess with my angel boy!

Can we also just take a moment to talk about the names of Will and Tessa's children? The oldest, James, clearly after Jem, but the youngest. Her name comes from A Tale of Two Cities, which is the book that Will and Tessa basically bonded over. I love how the love of their book was incorporated into their children, which were produced from their love. I screamed when I found out their names, no joke. There were also more tears over the name reveal. I'm still not sure whether they were happy or sad though to be completely honest with you.

Also Tessa has found her real family now! And she's a Shadowhunter! Tessa Starkweather, the great granddaughter of Aloysius Starkweather. I love that she found somewhere where she belonged. But she also found her family in a way that isn't blood-related. Nobody can tell me that the Shadowhunters at the Institute aren't her family. It's so obvious, especially with the way they treat her. Charlotte and Henry are obviously the parents, with Gabriel and Gideon being her brothers, Cecily her sister, and Will and Jem being her significant others.

I love how Tessa was able to experience a full relationship with both Will and Jem, and that she wasn't forced to choose one over the other in a way. She kind of did at first, but at the end it was made up for with the fact that she and Jem got back together.

This series, and the rest of the other series in the Shadowhunter Chronicles, are books that I will continue to read and recommend to every single person who asks until the day I die. They manage to transport me away to a different world and not very many books are able to do that in such a magical way that Cassandra does.

My Thoughts:

This book broke my heart and also made it swell with happiness within the same sentence which I did not think was possible. I was crying at the end but to this day I am still not sure if that was from happiness or sadness.

I loved everything about this book. As the second book in a series, it could have been either a hit or miss, but Cassandra Clare did not disappoint. While the plot wasn't exactly action heavy, it was still written well and did not get boring. We had some new characters introduced as well which made me excited because who doesn't like Magnus Bane??

What happened with Will brought me to tears. This boy deserves the world but he kept himself withdrawn out of the fear of others getting hurt if he loved them. I was happy he was able to have Jem in his life and love him, even though the reason behind it was so sad: he knew he wouldn't cause Jem's death because Jem was already dying when they met, and so he wouldn't have that guilt on his conscience. There were tears of joy in my eyes when he realised he wasn't cursed and ran to tell Tessa he loved her, which quickly turned into tears of sadness when he realised he was too late. They quickly turned into a mixture of joy and sadness when it was revealed that Jem and Tessa were engaged. I was happy for them but my heart broke for Will.

I loved seeing Jem and Tessa's relationship with each other blossom and turn into their engagement. It made me fall in love with their characters even more, especially Jem who has a special place in my heart. I love my violin angel boy. I also loved how Jem and Will's dynamic didn't change with Tessa in the picture. She kind of just slotted in and they all bounced off each other in the best way. Their bantering with each other made me laugh so hard.

This book might be my favourite in the series. It is a toss up between this one and the third one, but this one isn't as sad (iIf you know you know) so maybe this one just reaches a bit higher. Words cannot describe just how much I love this book and no review I ever write will do it justice so go read it. Obviously after the first one though.

My Thoughts:

I read this book after I had finished the Mortal Instruments series so I already had vague introductions to Jem and Tessa but that does not mean I fell in love with their characters and the story any less.

This book had everything from amazing plot to unique characters to amazing relationships. It was the perfect book for me and it is one that I keep reading over and over again.

I also loved the love triangle aspect in this. I could understand exactly where Tessa was coming from when she could not decide. Who could? On one hand you have Jem who is kind and sweet and he plays the violin and just seems very caring and calm, and then you have Will who is the polar opposite of Jem. Yes, he is kind and caring, but Will Herondale is also wild and hyper and has such a good sense of humour. I also love how their differences are portrayed physically: Will has dark brown, almost black hair, whereas Jem has silver hair. Small details like that just really add to the book in the best way.

I also loved the involvement of books in this. Tessa and Will are bookworms and their conversations about books, as well as Tessa's inner monologues about books, honestly made me fall in love with the book even more. I also loved the parallels to A Tale of Two Cities, which happened to be one of Tessa's and Will's favourite books.

I also loved how all the characters had their own personalities that were so unique and did not fit a blueprint whatsoever. Will with his determination to show everyone that demon pox is real, his extensive love of chocolate so much so that he thinks people that don't like it (Tessa) are monsters, and hates ducks because they are cannibals. Tessa with her obsession and fascination with books, her stubbornness, her magic, and her humour. And Jem with his music, his selflessness, and his addiction. They all fit together in the perfect puzzle.

The interactions that the main three characters had with each other just warmed my heart. First we have Will and Tessa. These two bonded over books and had such a deeply woven chemistry but it was clear from the start that their relationship would be complicated. Will admits he is in love with Tessa but he keeps pushing her away for reasons that will be found out over the series. I loved their bookish talks with each other as well as their tender little moments. I also loved the way that Clare managed to interweave literature and quotes into her books which made their moments even more special.

And next we have Tessa and my angel boy Jem. The moment they first meet is so simple and cute and just perfect for them. I also loved how they became friends and would just bond over the stupid things Will would do. Jem becomes a steady presence for Tessa throughout the course of the book and this slowly conquers Tessa's heart. They start off as strangers, then become friends and then at the end they feel more for each other than platonic affection. But another thing that I loved about their relationship is just how considerate Jem is. He knows that Will is in love with Tessa and so he never acts on the fact that he likes Tessa. He just holds back and lets them sort through whatever they need to sort through.

And finally we have Will and Jem. These two have one of the best relationship dynamics in this book. You can tell how much they love each other from the chemistry that just oozes from their interactions. And the way they just bounce off each other is so funny to see. I love how caring they are towards each other, and how relaxed Will is around Jem to the point he opens up about things, which is something he doesn't really do with anyone else. I love their friendship and I think they are one of the more perfect pairings for parabatai out of all the parabatai pairings in the Shadowhunter Chronicles.

I fall in love with this book more and more every time I read it, which I didn't think would be possible due to how many times I've read it. But it is a book that I will keep reading over and over again for the rest of my life.

My Thoughts:

This book. THIS BOOK. Okay, I have loved this book since I was little. I read it just after I read Jane Eyre for the first time and have not been able to go a couple of months without reading it since.

I love this book because it does not fit the blueprint of the traditional romances written in that era. I'm using Pride and Prejudice as an example of an opposite romance. So, Pride and Prejudice, the romance is very sweet and frilly and seems perfect, but in Wuthering Heights, it's dark, agitating, imperfect and sometimes terrifying. And for me, I prefer things that aren't portrayed as perfect, because let's face it, nothing in this world is perfect.

I loved how the setting in this book mirrored the inhabitants of the houses at times. The Yorkshire moors can be very pretty but also can be quite desolate and remote, especially during the winter, which reflected the characteristics of Catherine and Heathcliff quite well in my opinion. Both had true beauty but both seemed quite ugly inside. The setting combined with the dark souls of the characters pushed me into a bleak world that was filled with hatred and resentment. The perfect scene-setting.

The actual romance in this book is between Hareton and Cathy, not Heathcliff and Catherine. Heathcliff and Catherine have such an unhealthy relationship with each other, which eventually leads to their death and ruin because they are both absolutely miserable (if that wasn't clear when Catherine basically starved herself and Heathcliff was abusive to everyone) and were never actually got over their own high opinions of themselves. Hareton and Cathy, on the other hand, while both start with prejudice towards each other, they manage to overcome them and learn from one another.

I also loved how Emily showed a criticism of alcohol throughout the whole novel and how Catherine's illness was a metaphor for depression. There are so many themes in this novel I can't even decipher one from the other.

THE ENDING. IT was gothic, and just fit the novel and was the perfect ended by hinting that Heathcliff and Catherine were haunting the moors together and so became local legends. I loved the supernatural element that was sprinkled throughout this book.

The one thing I do not like though, and this is only minor, is Joseph's speech and how it is written. I cannot for the life of me understand or decipher what he is saying so I do tend to skip through the parts of his speeches that I cannot decipher what is being said.

My Thoughts:

I have loved this book since I was younger and I will continue to love this book for so many years to come. I fell in love with this book when my dad read it to me when I was eight and I keep coming back to it ten years later.

What I loved most is that Jane had a good idea about her self-worth and her morals and SHE STUCK TO THEM AND HER IDEA OF WHAT IS RIGHT AND WRONG DESPITE WHAT WAS HAPPENING TO HER UNLIKE MANY OTHER WOMEN WHO WERE IN HER SITUATION. She was the first proper example of a woman who stood by her independence and didn't let anyone change that. This was shown when she refused to marry Rochester when she found out about Bertha because she stays true to herself without betraying herself by not giving herself fully to someone who would destroy her integrity and tarnish her own self. The amount of courage she had for doing things like this given the time period in which this book is set was just so inspiring for little me and it has been a message that has stuck with me ever since: "never let anyone make you do something that will make you not be true to yourself."

Another thing I enjoyed was how much this book broke the stereotypes and expectations of the time period. In the Victorian period, women would listen to men and do as they were told, but Jane doesn't listen to what men tell her to do if it means losing her self-worth and integrity. In the Victorian period, it was also the best choice for women to be attached to a man in order to make their way through life, but Jane made her own way without anyone and she was happy. It was also unusual back then for a rich man to marry anyone in a lower social class than him, so Mr. Rochester marrying Jane, who was a tutoress for a French girl, was something so surprising to see but it was something I absolutely loved because it showed how much their marriage was based on true love.

Another thing about this book that I really enjoyed - it reverses the tropes. Jane isn't a perfect heroine, she is a woman who has a temper, which is something that isn't really included in the trope of perfect female with no flaws like many literary heroines have today.

But quite possibly my favourite thing about this book is the marriage between Jane and Mr. Rochester. Not only was it an unusual pairing at the time, it formed from a love that wasn't physical, which I wish there was more of in contemporary literature these days - a love that stems from something other than physical attraction. In the book both Mr. Rochester and Jane aren't described as being physically attractive. Jane is not beautiful and Mr. Rochester is rather ugly, but they still fall in love with each other. This shows something that is not usually thought of today when people think about love. When people think about love their minds immediately go to physical attraction and sex, but that's not the basis of a loving relationship. Love is about a connection on an almost spiritual level, which people sometimes tend to forget about when they think about it. It goes way deeper than a physical connection, which is highlighted perfectly in this book.

I also loved the setting of this book - gothic and intense. Every description of the landscapes and the interior was done in a way to serve a purpose which established the mood of the scene in such a good way.

I could sing praises about this book for the rest of my life all day every day and that still would not be enough. I am definitely a Bronte girl, and will continue to be for the rest of my life.

My Thoughts:

Ok, so, I get that this book was quite an important thing when it first came out because it highlighted how to have safe sex and it made the whole process more realistic but that was quite a few years ago and I feel like times have changed so when I read it, I just found it slightly corny and cheesy.

I will say this, the romance between Katherine and Michael was kind of cute, but in the grand scheme of things it just didn't feel right at times, for example, when he pressured her into doing sexual things with her. This book is supposed to be an accurate portrayal of love at the age of seventeen and I know that, but I have a good idea of what most teenagers feel like and think love is and what I think it is and it just does not fit what this book portrayed it as. The clash of ideals just made it unenjoyable for me to read, and it did annoy me at times as well. It just fell into the stereotype that all teenagers are horny all the time, when, in reality, that's not the case at all. I don't think this was helped by the fact that the sex scenes in this book were overly explicit and somehow managed to take away all the romance during them.

The writing just seemed too bland and corny and there were SO MANY ELLIPSES. The constant automatic pause that would happen while I was reading really just... drew me out of the story... so I would... not be able to form as much of a... connection... see what I mean... it's annoying...

And then we have the characters. I didn't like any of them. Katherine was boring, Michael was so horny all of the time which got really annoying after a while. AND he named his his penis Ralph. I swear I cringed so hard when I read that. Of all the names in the world he chose Ralph? Wtf Michael. It just gave me the ick for his character straight off the bat. I think it would be safe to say this is a major red flag for me. If a guy names his penis I'm running in the other direction.

You might notice that this has no playlist. That's because I simply don't feel like I will make playlists for the books I rate 2 stars or below because the likelihood of me re-reading them is slim to none so I don't see the need to.

My Thoughts:

I read this for my English GCSE and did so many analyses and essays that it genuinely made me hate it. Don't get me wrong, the writing is beautiful, but having to study it for an exam really drags out all the fun and enjoyment I had when I first read it.

I think if I read it again, I would be able to fall in love with it again but as of right now I just need a bit more time to recover from the emotional damage that was my English teacher. Everyone knows how much they manage to drag the joy out of anything.

It's a short my thoughts for this one because I read it a while ago but when I next read it again I'll update this with my actual thoughts which will actually be how I felt when I first read it.

My thoughts:

I don't know where to start with this book. I found it so hard to give it a rating because I so badly wanted to give it 5 stars but in my opinion, it was not as good as the first book, and that's for quite a few reasons, which I'll list just after this. Get the negatives out the way first, right?

The first thing that I had an issue with was the small inconsistencies in the plot, especially with names. Ari's sisters names had changed to Emmy and Vera, which is definitely not what their names were in the first book. Cecilia and Sylvia who is basically what Saenz said. I feel like I probably would have just looked this over if they had been minor characters but the fact that the names of two major characters changed is confusing. You would think that if you were writing a sequel to a book that was published almost 10 years before the sequel would be published that you would catch up on all the facts. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like this book was written more for clout than actually because the author enjoyed the characters and the plot.

Another thing I didn't like was how there seemed to be so much plot but then not that much plot at all, which probably makes no sense. What I mean is that while quite a lot does happen in the book, none of it seems to be a pivotal part to the plot apart from two things: Jaime's death and Dante going to Paris. In the first book there were so many plot points that linked to the main theme of Ari falling in love with Dante, for example: Ari saving Dante from getting hit by a car, Dante moving to Chicago, and the homophobic attack on Dante. But in the second book there wasn't really anything like that. I'm not really sure what the main theme was of the second book if I'm being honest. It didn't seem to have one main underlying plot point.

The third thing that seemed to bug me was the fact we didn't really need a sequel, especially not one like this. I loved reading about Ari's growth as a person in this, but there were some questionable things about his character that I feel could have been missed out. For example: the whole thing that was hinting at Ari being bisexual throughout the book but when he was asked by Dante he turned it down so quickly. Like what? I don't understand why that was needed if it was going to be proved as not true, even if we can see it is true considering how Ari acts around girls. It just seemed a little bit biphobic to me. And another thing that should not have been included with the transphobic storyline surrounding Bernardo. It should have stayed in the first book where it was actually vital to the plot because it was how he ended up in prison. But it wasn't really needed in this.

The final thing that really did not make any sense whatsoever was that Dante was in less than 50% of the book, which is a bit strange considering his name is in the title. Maybe this is just annoying me because Dante is my favourite character in this but it just seemed like Dante was an afterthought. And don't even get me started on their breakup. It took less pages for them to get back together. Like what.

Overall I did like the book though. I loved the characters. I loved seeing Ari's character growth. I loved Sophocles. I loved seeing the development and exploration both physically and mentally in Ari and Dante's relationship. I loved the nostalgia I got when reading it, and I just loved where it was set and how that fit perfectly with the overall vibes that the book gave. I loved how the philosophical monologues were still present in the book and I loved how the characters still felt the same. This was not a sequel that was necessarily needed but I still wanted it.
