This is especially targeted at those people who ignore every reason I give for why I dislike Heartstopper and tell me I still have to watch it because it’s “queer culture”.

I hate Heartstopper because:

I had an AWFUL experience of being queer at a British secondary school and do not enjoy consuming media that reminds me of the experience. I also feel Heartstopper does not do this type of experience justice in how it is represented given the tone of the novels and show.

My ex forced me to read and watch it and I do not like having to be reminded of that relationship. I had a bad time and it messed me up a lot.

I just don’t enjoy that style of genre- I’m a sci-fi and fantasy nerd and I don’t really like watching things that are 100% based in reality unless there’s a very interesting premise. Heartstopper does NOT have a very interesting premise to me.

People have more facets to them that just what minorities they’re in. I am queer, and very proud of it, but that’s not the only thing making up my identity or my interests.

Hey just a reminder that media consumption isn’t actually reflective of identity or culture.

What I mean is, if you tell me one more fucking time that I need to watch some tv show because it’s “queer culture”, I’m going to kill you. I’ve not watched it because I’m not interested in its premise, not because I’m suddenly cishet and allo.
