So Bleach became a literal parody of itself, with characters doing/becoming things they literally swore they never would. This may be the canon ending, but it does NOT reflect the previously established personalities of the characters.
Ichigo, despite expressing extreme discontent at his human life in the beginning of The Lost Substitute Shinigami arc and having zero plans for his future, staying in the World of the Living.
Uryu becomes a doctor after swearing to never become one after his mother’s illness and death. Like, seriously? In the earlier chapters he expressed his interest in design and fashion and it was clear that this, aside from being a Quincy, was his passion. I know many a friend that have had this happen to them; after illness takes a loved one away, after they themselves have personally had to go through that tragedy and be on the patient end of the doctor-patient relationship…that’s not something you just get over. It happened to my bae, actually.
Chad using his fists for profit after he swore he never would use them for personal gain (the entire reason why Ichigo and Chad became pals was because Chad WOULD NOT DEFEND HIMSELF).
There being little to no interaction between Ichigo and Rukia despite them being the catalysts for the ENTIRE GODDAMN SERIES. Sand and Rotator, Black Sun and White Moon, and so on and so forth. I’m not even asking for romantic, but it seems that somewhere in the span of a few days in the war with the Quincy, their bond literally poofed into nothing which makes no sense because they didn’t see each other for over a YEAR after he lost his powers, yet Rukia still believed in Ichigo and defended him to the shinigami when they thought he had turned against them.
Other inconsistencies:
Ichika and Kazui are the same age, which makes no sense whatsoever because the residents of the Soul Society age differently than the residents of the World of the Living.
Given Ichika’s and Kazui’s age, that means that their parents literally fucked right after the Thousand Year War was up. That makes Ichigo and Orihime underage and popping out a kid. And, honestly, I don’t feel like they had the development by the end of this arc to be emotionally at that place where they could. I’m not saying that it’s completely unreasonable for them to have fallen in love in 10 years, because a lot can happen in a decade, but as of the conclusion of the war with the Quincy, I don’t feel like that had chemistry. Renji and Rukia I can deal with (despite Renji being friendzoned so hard it hurts and there being no development between them for like a century).
Why is Ichika’s last name Abarai? Shouldn’t it be Kuchiki?
Why don’t Ichika and Kazui know each other before this point? Did Ichigo and Rukia just stop talking to each other? Did Ichigo just cut the shinigami out of his life completely?
Rukia forgetting about HER OWN CHILD WTF
Urahara saying he was leaving the future to Ichigo and Rukia and then….nothing.
A large majority of the cast has unresolved backstories that were teased for this arc and then never resolved.
What about the Shibas? This arc was perfect for their house’s redemption and it was set up that Ganju and Kukaku know who Ichigo is to them and reflect upon that, but never bring it up.
And what about the Shihoin house?
I hate this trend of “develop the canon relationships outside of the canon source material”. Kishimoto pulled this with NaruHina and left the development of Naruto’s feelings to a movie. I’m saying this as a NaruHina fan–Naruto and Hinata deserved better than that craptastic mess of a movie where HINATA WAS MORE CONCERNED WITH NARUTO THAN HER OWN KIDNAPPED SISTER. And then they get married almost immediately after so they can pop out kids yet can remain young in the spinoff series?
I will say I owe the NaruSaku fandom an apology, because now I know what it feels like to be ship baited. Technically everything outside of the manga is non-canon, but still. Kubo gave interviews in which he himself praised the bond that is IchiRuki, said that Rukia is Ichigo’s light, gave them a honeymoon spread and helped write on entire movie revolving around how they change each other’s world.
Either way, it’s over now. And I don’t care who you ship, but you’ve got to admit that certain pairings/characters were built a certain way and then left unresolved. You’ve got to admit that IchiRuki was ship baited by spreads and poems, movies and interviews (and do not say that he didn’t, because I’ve seen IchiHime shippers wishing that he would do the same for IchiHime, so even IchiHime shippers are aware that there was a bias/preference expressed). The last arc was godawful (as I’ve said numerous times) and it’s just sad to see Bleach end on such a terrible note. This isn’t brilliant writing; the foreshadowing turns out to be nothing but a red herring and everyone–EVERYONE–should be upset that the characters/relationships didn’t get the necessary development they deserved to reach the conclusions they got.
"IR make me laugh so much like der ship isn't Canon cause dis manga is for da 12 yer old pubescent boys!!!1."HAAA. Sure, cause spotty teens thinking they're Ichigo and wanting Orihime to be with him cause they fantasize about a girl with large boobs is more important for Kubo. And Kubo isn't retarded; I'm pretty sure he has recognised that his fans have GROWN OLDER with the manga. Their delusional arguments make me laugh so much 😂
So according to some, Bleach is for 12 year old hornballs; and Kubo is a chauvinistic pig, who plans on showing Ichigo to be a superficial cad only interested in outward appearances, and in a woman who’s eager to please him without question?
I certainly hope NOT Anon! I agree, that argument is very laughable.
I doubt Kubo would do something this ……..disgusting, after taking time in developing such a profound relationship between Ichigo and Rukia. A relationship based on mutual trust and understanding. A relationship that is way passed the point of just being a mere friendship, but not quite at the point where the couple has realized that they are in fact in love with one another.
A relationship with so much chemistry, NO ONE can deny this fact.
