I had an ochem test yesterday (haven't received the results yet), now I have another ochem test in a little less than two weeks... I can't wait to be done with this class. We had a substitute lab instructor last week though and she complimented my work which really did make ochem more bearable for those couple of hours.
Me and my dying ipad are getting that degree together🫠(I have high hopes that'll be able to buy a laptop before I start working on my research:")).
I think I'll take a pause on reading articles and start actually studying for my FINAL finals. I'm also starting my internship in 2 weeks and I don't know if I'm scared or excited. I guess it's both★
Y'all, the world is sleeping on what NASA just pulled off with Voyager 1
The probe has been sending gibberish science data back to Earth, and scientists feared it was just the probe finally dying. You know, after working for 50 GODDAMN YEARS and LEAVING THE GODDAMN SOLAR SYSTEM and STILL CHURNING OUT GODDAMN DATA.
So they analyzed the gibberish and realized that in it was a total readout of EVERYTHING ON THE PROBE. Data, the programming, hardware specs and status, everything. They realized that one of the chips was malfunctioning.
So what do you do when your probe is 22 Billion km away and needs a fix? Why, you just REPROGRAM THAT ENTIRE GODDAMN THING. Told it to avoid the bad chip, store the data elsewhere.
Sent the new code on April 18th. Got a response on April 20th - yeah, it's so far away that it took that long just to transmit.
And the probe is working again.
From a programmer's perspective, that may be the most fucking impressive thing I have ever heard.
I’m not really a book collector in the sense that I don’t care much about first editions or sprayed edges and what not (not that there’s anything wrong with that—it’s just not my thing). But one afternoon I was going through my “memory boxes” and found three old Murakami paperbacks, overflowing with memories from the time I bought and read them. Dance, Dance, Dance’s margins are littered with thoughts, passages in pink with a highlighter purchased at my first part-time job. There’s After the Quake, my first Murakami, still with the barcode sticker of the bookstore I bought it from while living in Asia. And Kafka on the Shore which I lent to someone I treasure most dearly, a time capsule of that relationship. Since I already had these three books, I thought I would go ahead and hunt down the rest of the old covers. It was a bit of an impulsive decision but I’ve never been the type to do things half heartedly. It took some time because these are out-of-print and sought after so they’re resold at ridiculous scalper prices more often than not (and I refuse to ever give a dollar to a scalper). I dug through all the secondhand stores and sites I could find and after two months of looking, it feels like a real achievement to have them all displayed on my shelf. The covers evoke a surrealist vibe and it has become quite the highlight of my reading space.
26.04.2024 || I am writing my masters thesis and everyday I'm more and more concerned I won't finish it on time but my supervisor is all calm and says there's plenty of time left and I bet we'll submit it on the last day 😂
And also this hearts water bottle I bought for cheap in Tiger is my most treasured possession now, I love pink and red together and hearts pattern is the cherry on top!
have so much stuff to do, it's really overwhelming. have been feeling like i don't have time for hobbies or down time, but really i'm just using my time badly. gotta fix my procrastination and use that time to rest and do fun stuff instead. every week is going to be brutal from now on, too (3 minitests + projects)
-> classes (total: 3h30)
-> studied for the Comp minitest (read wiki + did available exercises)
life has been hectic, with the end of semester approaching slowly but surely. i still have to finish my thesis, do all the remaining coursework for my classes, and then start studying for state exams :’)
