The circumstances surrounding the recent deaths of Christopher Kapessa 13 years old who was found dead in the River Cynon, Fernhill, Rhondda Cynon Taff, Wales and Shukri Yahya Abdi 12 years old, who was reportedly found dead in the River Irwell Bury, Lancashire are giving rise to suspicion around the circumstances of both childrens sudden and tragic deaths.
Both were perviously victims of racist, bullying and racism. Neither child can swim and both had a fear of water. Both parents are deeply dissatisfied with the answers that they have been given by South wales and Greater Manchester Police, in relation to the deaths of their children.
We call upon the Home Secretary, the Attorney General Chief Constables of South Wales and Greater Manchester Police to ensure that we are not witnessing, a repeat of the systemic failures associated with the racist murder of Stephen Lawrence, and provide reassurance to an increasing anxious British black community in relation to these deaths.
It deeply disturbs me that this is still happening in the world. It disturbs me even more that this is happening in my country so close to where I live. As someone who wants to see change not just from the police but from society as a whole we need to tackle all these problems. The police gathered the information and evidence needed to prosecute but the CPS (crown prosecution service - Britain’s court system) doesn’t believe it is in the public’s interest. This shows that even when the police do their jobs there are barriers stopping equality for black members of the public and their children.
Please sign this petion to show that we want society as a whole to change and we want justice for everyone and anyone that deserves it no matter the colour of their skin.

Stark - Chapter 1
Iron Man - part 1
Two weeks had passed since Gwens mothers had broken the news to her. She’d had a full week off school but her mother decided she needed to get back into her regular routine. School seemed to be different as her teachers seemed to walk on egg shells around her. Her classmates seemed to whisper about her and keep their distances not knowing what to say. The days dragged on but after the first week Gwen seemed to accept her fathers fate. She missed him but Karen had kept her company when her mother had been at work or out doing something. Karen kept her distracted and tried her best to make Gwen laugh. From what Gwen had managed to pick up from hushed phone conversations and whispered gossip from her mothers mouth over the kitchen table her fathers business was in safe hands. She wasn’t sure who was taking care of it but her mother had muttered about something about always thinking he was slimy even at the wedding.
Her Godfather had visited several times in the two weeks reassuring her mother they were doing everything they could to find Tony. Though her mother had shown a lack of wanting to know anything that was going on in Rhodey’s investigation. Explaining the only reason Rhodey was to give her any information about Tony was if the information was appropriate for her to pass on to her daughter.
She had been sat on the cream carpet eating her breakfast, making sure not to spill any on the newly cleaned carpet when she got the news. Her mother had been lounging on the dark brown leather sofa that sat in their living room. Her tanned legs lay on the sofa making her look like a supermodel as she flipped the newspaper she read. The television had been switched to the news. Gwen pretended to understand what the news reporter was saying despite her reporting in the middle of a storm. The screen quickly cut to a man and woman sat behind an official looking desk.
Gwen shoved another mouthful of coco pops into her mouth and wiped away any spillage with the back of her hand.
“I’m sorry to interrupt the report you were just watching. In breaking news billionaire business mogul Tony Stark has been found alive in the deserts of Afghanistan. His representives have informed us that he will be holding a press conference later today but we have been asked to respect his and his families privacy at the mean time. Thank you for your patients we will continue with the regular news programme”.
Gwens head spun quickly and she stared at her mother. Her mother stared at her daughter, their blue eyes meeting for a brief moment. The tv seemed to murmur and Gwen turned it out. Her ears were ringing. She couldn’t seem to concentrate. A million thoughts raced through her head. Her mother had told her she would never see her father again but the man on the television had said he had been found. She’d glanced back at the television but the story was gone and the woman who had been caught in the storm had replaced the man.
Her head turned back to the sofa but her mother no longer lay spread over the dark leather. Gwen hadn’t heard her mother get up but she could hear a whispered conversation taking place in the dimly lit kitchen. She placed the china bowl on the glass table and stood up. Her feet felt cold against the wooden floor causing her to shiver. The kitchen door creaked as Gwen pushed it open. Her mother turned her head quickly removing the phone from her ear and placing her perfectly manicured hand over the speaker.
“Go upstairs and get out of your pj’s and put some real clothes on” her Mum said quickly gesturing her out of the room.
Her small feet hit the stairs quickly the carpet tickling her bare feet. She threw her over sized t shirt and pyjama bottoms onto her floor and pulled a pair of denim jeans from the hanger that hung in the wardrobe. She grabbed a white jumper that had been thrown on the floor the previous day. She made sure to brush her hair and teeth and make sure she was presentable. Her hands reached for her socks and she placed them on her tiny feet. She did the same thing with her black shoes.
“Gwen hurry up” her mothers voice rang throughout the house.
She ran down the stairs and jumped when she reached the bottom two steps hitting the floor with her feet. She smiled at her mother who hadn’t changed. Gwen wasn’t sure where the pair were going, she probably should have put two and two together but her young mind didn’t. A knock cut through the silence. Eliza walked away from Gwen and towards the door to reveal a man wearing a suit. He looked between the two. Eliza bend down to look her daughter in the eye.
“This is Happy. Do you remember Miss Potts?” Her mother asked.
Gwen shrugged a little.
“She’s in the car. Happy is going to take you to see your dad” her mother said smiling slightly.
Gwen bit at the inside of her cheek, blood filling her mouth. She nodded her head.
“Are you not coming?” Asked Gwen.
“No” said her mother shaking her head “you need to go with Happy”.
Gwen turned to Happy, he gestured for her to follow him. They walked down the small grey path. A few people stood outside snapping pictures of the pair. Gwen could smell the jasmine flowers that she hadn’t been able to smell a few weeks ago. A sense of nerves had formed in her stomach eating away at her like an animal had been trapped inside her body. She was relieved when she’d heard the man speak, she’d also been overwhelmingly happy when the man spoke. Happy opened the back of the black car for her to climb in. Gwen did just that and found herself face to face with a dirty red blonde hair. She looked familiar and smiled kindly at Gwen.
“I’m Pepper. Do you remember me at all? I think we’ve met once or twice?” Pepper said her eyes were red and wet.
Gwen wasn’t sure if they were tears of happiness or tears of sadness.
“I think so” Gwen whispered suddenly feeling intimidated by the woman she hardly knew.
“Do you know where we’re going?” Asked Pepper trying her best to stop the atmosphere from getting awkward.
Gwen shook her head lightly refusing to make eye contact with Pepper.
“We’re going to see your dad. Is that ok?” Pepper Said.
Gwen began to think that Pepper was patronising but her heart seemed to be in the right place so she didn’t say anything.
Gwens heart began to beat quicker and she smiled a warm feeling was born in her chest. She couldn’t believe that her dad was alive let alone she was able to see him. Everything she’d heard about her father on tv or whispered about at school was that most people thought he was dead. Gwen had even started to believe it but the man on TV who she didn’t learn the name of had given her hope and despite the saying that hope is dangerous Gwen had it tucked away in her pocket.
“Yeah” said Gwen finally looking up and smiling at the woman. Who in turn smiled herself.
The ride was long and Pepper tried her best to speak to the young girl but seemed to caught up in her own thoughts after a while. Eventually the black car pulled up at an official looking building that Gwen didn’t know the name of. The pair were helped out of the car and were escorted quickly into the intimidating looking building. Officials wearing suites and pansuites walked around projecting confidence and awareness of themselves. People hurried past the pair who were being led by a man in a slick black suit. His hair was well kept and his back stiff and straight. Gwen thought she heard himself say his name was Ward but she hadn’t really been paying attention.
The man glanced around his eyes scanning the surrounding. He spoke to Pepper most likely about Gwens father but Gwen wasn’t listening. They were both led outside to what looked like an military airport. Men and women dressed in pilot uniforms and army outfits ran around as a large plane landed. The arrival of the plane seemed to stress out a large group of officials as they began to hurry with what they were doing bumping into one another in their efforts to get their jobs done.
The plane began to lower itself to the ground. The blades cutting through the air and creating a powerful wind. Gwens hair whipped at her face and was pulled by the wind. Her clothes filled with wind and slapped at her body. She wobbled as its claws tried to drag her over but Pepper steadied her giving her a small smile. The wind had the same effect on Pepper though Gwen didn’t see her stumble back. The plane sat down on the floor with a thud. And the door opened revealing a bruised and broken looking Tony. Who was being supported by Gwens God father. As soon as the doors hit the floor and Tony and Rhodey walked into sight Gwen ran away from Pepper and towards her father. She hit him with a thud and threw her thin arms around him. He let out a wounded sigh causing Gwen to release her father and pull back. However he kept his one good arm tightly around her and stopped her pulling away. He pulled her in tighter and she hugged him tighter. He smiled in the way a wounded dog smiles at its owner, with unconditional love. All three of them walked off the plane and onto the tarnac where they were greeted by Miss Potts who’s eyes were even redder than before. She looked releaved when she saw he was in one peice. She smiled through her read and said something about not enjoying job hunting causing her father to laugh, but Gwen didn’t really understand the joke.
Rhodey, Tony, Pepper and Gwen made their way throughout the airport and official building back to the car. Throughout the walk Gwen held her fathers hand in a stubborn grip. However Gwen wasn’t sure if it was her refusing to drop his hand or him refusing to drop hers. The car ride was filled with the adults chatting and Tony occasionally asking Gwen a question. From what Gwen could gather both Pepper and Rhodey wanted her father to go to hospital but him being a stubborn human being insisted on holding a press conference. Eventually the group came to a compromise and decided they would buy Tony some food before the press conference and then he’d go to hospital.
The car stopped off at a Burger King and the once clean smelling car stank of fast food. Gwen regretted eating her cereal as she wasn’t able to finish the meal her father had bought her. Her stomach hurt and flipped everytime the car went over a speed bump. Tony insisted on the windows being down. Something Gwen was thankful for as the stench in the car was beginning to make her feel ill. Tony hadn’t really eaten his food by the time car had pulled up outside another official building.
The car came to a screeching stop. Rhodey opened the door and helped Tony out as Pepper climbed out the other side. Gwen followed Pepper but stood next to her father once the opportunity arose. Large groups of people had grouped outside and clapped when the car had pulled up. A man that Gwen thought she knew hugged Tony when he stepped out of the car. He wore a grey suit and had a grey beard. His face cracked as he smiled at the group.
Her father ducked down to look his daughter in the eyes.
“Pepper here is gonna take care of you whilst I talk to some people for a couple minutes. I’ll be done as soon as I can. Is that ok?” Said Tony smiling.
“Yeah, that’s ok” said Gwen.
Pepper extended her hand to the small blonde haired girl. The young girl happily extended her own and walked away with Pepper. She glanced back at her father as they made their way into a room full of flashing lights and photographers. Pepper led Gwen down to the back of the room. Gwen wasn’t sure what was going on but she trusted her father and her father seemed to trust Miss Potts.
Pepper told Gwen she needed to talk to a man for a minute and Gwen wasn’t to wasn’t to wander off. Pepper began to speak to a middle age man who was wearing a dark blue suit and a matching tie. Gwen couldn’t hear what they were saying and she didn’t really care, the man handed Pepper a card. Gwen wandered off throughout the crowd to get a better look at her father.
Gwen wondered how long Pepper would be talking to the man for. She also wondered how long her father would take to speak to the men with photographs. Rhodey has mentioned in the car that after the press conference they’d all go to Starks Malibu mansion where a private doctor would be waiting, though Gwen remembered her dad saying he wasn’t interested in seeing any doctors.
She weaved her way throughout the crowd of official looking men. Gwen positioned herself next to a pillar and lent on it, waiting for her dad to start talking. The man that Gwen thought she knew stood at the podium and introduced himself to the crowd as Obadiah Stane. Her father had taken a seat at the bottom of the podium. He pulled his burger out of his pocket causing Gwen to smile. Pepper had made her way over to Gwen and gestured for her to move back. Gwen sighed and sucked at her lips but followed Miss Potts.
Her father commanded the room and asked all the reporters to sit down. Everyone in the group obliged and did as he asked. Miss Potts began to sit as well causing Gwen to take it as her cue to sit. The room went quiet as Tony began to speak. He began to talk about the weapons he’d made, and the system he was apart of, and the people he’d hurt. He began to talk about his father and how he wanted to be better. How he’d never been able to say goodbye to his father and how he didn’t want that for his daughter. At the end of the speech her father said something similar to Stark Industies will no longer be manufacturing weapons. The room irrupted after the words left his mouth. Stane pulled Tony away from the microphone. As the photographers snapped pictures Stane walked Tony away from the podium announcing that Tony Stark was back.
Pepper gestured for Gwen to follow her as she chased Tony and Obadiah up the hallway. Gwens feet hit the floor her shoes slapping the laminated floor causing her to cringe at the noise. Pepper climbed into the car after Tony helping Gwen in and then shutting the door. Obadiah sat opposite Tony and next to Pepper. Gwen watched his fake smile turn into something that wasn’t quiet a scowl.
“What are you doing? You own a weapons manufacturing company and you’ve just announced to the world that you are no longer going to be making weapons” Obadiah scolded.
Gwen wondered why he cared so much about her fathers company.
“The stocks will drop” stated Pepper looking up from her phone.
“Thank you” said Tony glancing at her.
The car drove and the adults spoke in hushed voices together. Tony squeezed Gwens hand in his good hand. She looked at him and smiled.
“Are we going to the hospital now?” Said Gwen suddenly cutting through the adults conversation.
All the adults looked at her. She smiled lazily at them.
“Yes” Said Obadiah “we should probably get your head checked out”.
His eyes lingered on Tony who held his eye contact, challenging his dominance.
“A private doctor is waiting for you at the mansion” said Pepper cutting through the tension.
“A private doctor can’t tell us if he has brain damage” snapped Stane.
Gwen jumped and glanced at her father. Her eyes lingering on his head.
“I’m fine” he said smiling at his daughter who after debating that fact in her mind decided to believe him.
“I was checked out after the army found me. Do you really think  Rhodes would have let me leave that base if I hadn’t been check over” Said Tony rolling his eyes “really you worry to much”.
The car pulled up outside the house that Gwen always thought was to much but she wouldn’t have expected anything else from her father. She climbed out of the car and ran ahead of the adults up the path and towards the door.
“Do you remember the code?” Yelled Tony his voice booming around Gwen.
“yeah” she yelled out.
Her small fingers pushed at the smaller grey buttons and the silver metal door clicked open.
“Hello Miss Stark. How are you today?” The voice of JARVIS sung throughout the house.
“I’m good. Hi Jarvis” she smiled. Her shoes rubbed against the small mat that was sat by the door for that reason. She kicked her shoes off and walked into the house. Her thin socks tried their best to protect her feet from the cold of the wooden floor.
“Hello Mr Stark, Miss Potts, Mr Stane” JARVIS’s voice bounced off the wall signalling the adults had entered the house.
“Kiddo” Said Tony walking over to the young girl “what do you wanna do?”.
She shrugged and eyed Pepper and Obadiah.
“I have some forms to sign” Said Pepper walking towards Tony and Gwen “are you ok if I leave you?”.
Her face smiled but her eyes didn’t quiet feel like Tony was ok.
“Yeah Pep, you do what you need to do” Said Tony smiling as Peppers eyes lingered on him.
Gwen watched the pair as they interacted. Her father looked happy as he looked at Pepper. They looked lovely and for some reason that made Gwen happy.
“I’ll be back later to tell you about the stock market” she said.
She glanced at Gwen and smiled “you’re in charge”.
Gwen smiled happy with that revelation.
“Hey, hey” Said Tony “don’t get any ideas I’m the adult here”.
His eyes lingered on Gwen who rolled hers causing him to smile.
“I would say she’s more mature” yelled Pepper leaving the house.
The door shut behind her leaving Gwen, Tony and Obadiah in the room.
“Tony we need to talk about this” Obadiah voice seemed harsh but Tony just rolled his eyes.
“Later. I’ve got to look after the kid” he said walking Gwen into the kitchen.
“You hungry kiddo?” he said smiling.
Gwen nodded.
“You want take out. I want take out. Pizza?” Said Tony walking towards the phone.
“You staying?” He asked his eyes looking at Obadiah before turning back to the phone.
“We need to talk about this” Said Obadiah his voice trying to hide irritation.
Tony turned away from him and looked at his daughter “the usual”.
“Yeah!” Said Gwen jumping up to sit on a stool that sat near the marble breakfast bar.
“Tony!” Said Obadiah.
“You look tired. Are you tired? Take the week off” Said Tony dismissing the older man.
“Tony. You can’t just announce to the world that-“
“Hello? Yes is this Dominos pizza” said Tony cutting off Obadiah.
Gwens eyes lit up when her father began to speak down the phone. Her mouth was already watering thinking of the gooey cookies she would soon be eating.
Rolling his eyes Obadiah waited patiently for Tony to finish.
“Kid go get changed into your pyjamas. You remember where your room is” Said Tony smiling at his daughter.
“Yep!” She said popping the p and jumping off the stool.
She walked away from Obadiah and her father and up the strong glass stairs. She slid up the wooden corridor catching herself from falling just before reaching her room. The door was stiff but Gwen forced it open. The air was warm indicating that Tony had instructed JARVIS to turn the heating on in her room. Her half dead giraffe sat on her bed. Showing her mother had dropped it off earlier. She quickly changed into her pyjamas and grabbed the old giraffe from her bed. It’s tattered leg was held tight in her hand. She kicked her socks off her feet and ran down the stairs after hearing the bell ring. She peered around the corridor eyeing the door as Tony closed it. He’d changed into his pyjamas and now held pizza in his hands. He smiled at his daughter and wiggled his eyebrows. She laughed and walked into the kitchen.

28 December 1922 - 12 November 2018
I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic book writer while other people were building bridge or going onto medical careers. And then I began to realise: entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain people you’re doing a good thing. - Stan Lee

Prologue - Stark
Summary - Gwen Stark is the daughter of genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropists Tony Stark. After her father is assumed dead in Afghanistan 8 year old Gwens life is turned upside down but when he is found alive and sporting a new peice of technology he calls the arc reactor Gwens life will never quiet be normal again.
Gwen Stark lived a relatively normal life. Her parents had separated when she was six and did their best to hide their distaste of one another and in honesty Gwen was to young and naive to realise that they didn’t get on. Which is why at the tender age of eight years old Gwen couldn’t understand why she was being dragged from her slightly drawn on desk out of her classroom and into a room with no one in it. Gwen couldn’t tell the time very well but she continued to glance at the slow moving clock like she did. The air in the room felt cold as her shoes scuffed the floor as she swung them back and forth in an attempt to entertain herself. She wouldn’t complain about being removed from class, English was her least favourite subject and nothing the teacher said made really made any sense. But Gwen knew the only reason a child was pulled from class was when they’d done something wrong and Gwen knew she hadn’t done anything. She pulled at her ugly school skirt as she heard a familiar bell sound and the noise of shoes running over the corridor floor. Gwen was a hard child to aggravate but she was beginning to grow impatient and she knew her nanny Karen would be waiting at the school gates to drop her to her mothers house. Nervous and anxiety were beginning to bake in her stomach. She felt as though she had been sat in the cage for to long. What if they’d forgotten she was here and everyone had gone home for the night. Blood filled her mouth and danced on her tongue as she bit at her cheek a bad habit that often left her with pain in her mouth for several days after. But for some reason at this moment it was comfort. She knew something wasn’t right and this was confirmed when the door to the room clicked open. Her mother rushed in, her heels clicking quickly across the ground. Eliza as her mother was known took quick little steps towards her daughter. Gwen noted her mothers blonde hair looked messy like it hadn’t been brushed. This was unusual as her mothers appearance was very important to her. Her eyes were also red and blood shot, they were swollen and she looked like she had been crying. This was the second thing that had caught Gwens attention, the only time her mother cried was when it was summer time and that was only because of the high pollen. Even though summer was vastly approaching it was still May and Gwen hadn’t seen many flowers around. Her clothes also seemed messy and thrown together. This was also unusual and made Gwen wonder what was happening. She looked at her mother who pulled her into a hug. Her family were not ones for strong displays of affection unless it was desperately necessary so this quick action caught Gwen by surprise. The mother knelt down in front of her child and placed her cold hands on to both of Gwens cheeks. Her mothers skin felt cold against her own making Gwen think she had recently washed her hand in cold water, her hands didn’t feel clean though just cold. Her perfectly manicured nails looked out of place on her mother at the moment as they softly graced Gwens skin. Gwen now felt worried, something was wrong and she wasn’t sure if she wanted to know. She’d rather her dad be here instead of her Mum. Her dad was funny and always made her laugh, he wouldn’t make her feel worried. But she knew she’d see him next week.
“I didn’t do anything” Said Gwenher voice small and soft.
She wasn’t sure if her mother would believe her but she knew she hadn’t done anything naughty recently. The one peice of advice she remembered her god father James who for some reason everyone called Rhodey giving her was, “if your gonna do something that’s gonna get you in trouble make sure you don’t get caught”. Apparently Gwens father Tony had given his best friend that very own advice when they had broken into their college to partake in their senior prank. From what Gwen remembers of the story the two boys were caught and nearly expelled from the school much to the dismay of the boys parents but her father had just shrugged the last part of the story off and explained “it simply made for a good story”.
Gwen wondered if she would see her god father when she went to her dads next week. It was unlikely as he worked away a lot but she could only hope. She stared back at her mother. Her mothers face was laced with confusion as she gently shook her head and squeezed her dayghters face gently.
“I know, I know sweetie” she cooed, trying her best to keep herself from crying in front of daughter.
Gwen moved her small hand towards her mothers face and mimicked her mothers actions. Here mother moved into her daughters hand and smiled slightly at the little girl. Silence echoed in the room as Eliza looked into the blue eyes of her daughter.
“I need to tell you something sweetheart and it might be a bit upsetting” she said making sure she kept eye contact with her daughter.
Gwen released her mothers face and nodded slowly her blonde hair rising and falling as she moved.
“If you want to cry, that’s ok. If you don’t want to cry and want to cry later that’s also ok” her mother continued.
Gwen was confused. She wasn’t a particularly emotional child but she was beginning to get worried about what her mother was about to say. She wasn’t sure why her mother had come all the way down to the school instead of waiting for her to come home. Her eyebrows knitted together and her mouth drew itself into a line as her blue eyes tried to burrow into her mothers mind and pluck the secrets from it. But once again she nodded a little more sceptical than before.
Her mother took in a deep breath “there been an accident”.
Gwen sat in the car, her chest felt heavy and her throat felt tight. She wiped the tears that fell from her eyes and down her cheeks with the back of her hand. A small mixture between a sob and a cough escaped her lips. Her mother who was driving the car tried to comfort her crying child but couldn’t as she kept her eyes fixed on the road.
Her father had been involved in an accident at work. That was all her mother had told her. She had also said it was very unlikely that Gwen would be able to see her father again. Gwen didn’t know what to do when her mother had told her but for some reason her body knew how to react even though her mind didn’t and she began to cry. Tears spilling over her face and snot dripping down her nose. Her mother had pulled her into a hug and scooped her into her arms carrying her out of the school building and towards the beige fiat car that she drove. Gwen didn’t feel the need to shy away from the affection and pulled her mother closer when she had picked her up. Gwen was reluctant to let go of her mother when she was placed in the car letting out a louder cry when she felt her mothers hear leave her body.
She rubbed at her eyes and her brain clawed at the memories of her father pulling them into her mind making her cry even louder. When the car finally pulled up outside Gwens mothers house she noticed something different. A large group of people swarmed the door of their house with cameras in their hands. They were all dressed in casual comfortable clothes and looked rather bored and impatient until one of the groups members pointed at the car that bothe her mother and herself sat in. Suddenly the group sprang into action snapping picture and closing in on the car. Her mother muttered something inaudible under her breath and pushed open the car door. The people began to take pictures of her mother. Cameras flashing brightly and people screaming about a comment. Eliza pushed the people out of her way with little regard for their comfort as she forced her way towards Gwens door. The swarm refused to move causing Eliza to lose her patient and push them rather aggressively to open the door. One of them yelled something about their camera and Eliza had said something but Gwen wasn’t sure why the man would need to find her mother a duck to give. And she wasn’t sure what her mother would do with a duck if she had one. She pulled Gwen from the car her eyes still streaming tears. The air wasn’t as cold as Gwen had remembered it. A delicate wind tickled Gwens skin. Her mother shoved and gestured at the people to move. The usual scent of jasmine flowers had been mask by the anarchy that was taking place in her front garden. She couldn’t see the neatly trimmed green grass that the dirty brown boots of the people were covering, she also couldn’t see the grey stone path that her mother was trying to walk up towards her house. The whole scene felt chaotic to the young eight year old. She looked at the people that were taking pictures of her and her mother. A bright flash blunder her eyes and she let out another sob throwing her face onto her mothers neck. Her mother pushed herself through the crowd and fiddled with her keys momentarily. Gwen could still hear the gingling noise they made, even over the ravanous pack yelling at the pair. The white painted door opened in a matter of seconds. Eliza hurried the pair inside the house and closed the door abruptly behind them. The house seemed darker than usual as Eliza placed Gwens small frame onto the wooden floor. It felt colder to. Gwen wiped at her eyes and looked at her mother.
“You go get changed and I’ll put a movie on” her mother said with a sad smile.
Gwen walked away from her mother shivering under the damning stare of the house and towards her bedroom. She walked in pushing the door open cutting through the silence with a creaking noise. Gwen made a be line for her pyjamas and looked at the fish tank her father had bought her that sat on the white wooden bed side table. Her eyes blurred momentarily but she decided she had to be strong. Her pyjamas felt soft against her skin and they didn’t feel to heavy. She looked at her fish floating in the clear water. One was big bright and orange it’s empty eyes reminding Gwen of a boy in her class called Jason Ionello. The second was a black fish that for some reason only seemed to swim in circles. Her father had been reluctant to buy her that one in case it kicked the bucket to early but after Gwen had promised the fish was a fighter he unwillingly agreed. She sat silently in front of the fish and tried to explain to them that their grandpa Tony wouldn’t be around any longer. If the fish did understand the young girl they did little to show it and continued to swim away. Before heading down stairs she grabbed a battered old toy giraffe that sat crumpled on her bed. Taking its long leg in her small hand she headed to the stairs ready to see her mother again. The house felt silent and her mother hadn’t turned any of the lights on a part from the kitchen light. It flowed like a safe heaven at the end of the long ghoulish corridor. She ran as quick as she could up the corridor keeping her eyes trained on the door. She pushed open the kitchen door her fear of what could lurk in the dark disappearing at the sight of her mother talking to someone on the phone. She walked over and took her mothers hand in hers. Eliza jumped slightly looking down at the young girl. She gestured for her to go into the living room and pick a movie out.
More coming soon

Pipe bombs sent to Democrats, black people shot down at their church, and now a synagogue with at least 8 shot down in cold blood and officers wounded.
THIS IS DOMESTIC TERRORISM.
I thought “all lives mattered”?!
I am outraged and distraught over the senseless violence inflicted on the Jewish community. I stand with you in solidarity during this very painful time.
