What is Flowers about?!

Hello, I have recently become obsessed with hadestown, and one song I can never seem to understand is "Flowers."

Can anyone explain to me what they think it is about?

TW: mention of SA:

a part of me is interpreting it as a song about sa because there are so many lyrics that seem to suggest it such as

"I trembled when he laid me out

You won't feel a thing, he said, when you go down"

and to be fair, I think he means go down to Hadestown, but the way it sounds almost sexual.... I'm not sure. In any case, the meaning is confusing me. Do any of you know what it's about?
