Fuck You, Sir

Everyone expects me to be strong, to get through this unscathed, to not need as much as the next-door girl who would instead cry oceans and be miserable for a long period of time. That is not how people see me. I put out a confident facade. A devil-may-care attitude. A bitch-I-don't-even-care exterior. I do not do it for them, I do it for me. I hate the look of concern, the touch of pity. The mere smell of it brings tears to my eyes and I hate to cry. It makes me feel weak, magnifies the seeming deficiency I feel inside. But sometimes, I admittedly crumble into pieces. Whenever I catch myself alone listening to my old playlist on repeat, hearing different meanings than what I used to... Whenever the random wave of grief hits me, making me realize the past six years has turned to smoke... I crumble into a fine mist like a glass shattered a million ways and then some. But I get back up and glue those pieces back together, cheating everyone and making my broken self look like I'm brand new before another day starts. Because I am supposed to be strong enough to get through this. And I know I am. Once the crumbling episodes stop. And I know they will. I just need time to heal.
