I can’t get over the fact that Chu Wanning keeping the lock of his and Mo Ran’s hair from the ghost wedding is what clues Mo Ran in to the fact that Chu Wanning is in love with him. Like….. they had a FAKE, ersatz sham of a wedding that they only went through the comic and ridiculous motions of for ghost hunting purposes. And yet Chu Wanning was so hopelessly far gone for Mo Ran that he had to tenderly preserve some token of the time he spent pressed up against his beloved while stuffed inside a coffin. It’s incredible. You start out with the premise that Mo Ran is completely unhinged about Chu Wanning while Chu Wanning is tastefully restrained and pining hopelessly from afar, but it turns out that actually neither one of them is remotely capable of being normal about the other.
