thinking about steddie christmas differences
i think steve wakes up to an abundance of gifts with his name on them. expensive things, like new perfume or nice sweaters. his stocking is full and it takes a while for him to get through all his presents. but after opening all of them, he can’t help but feel a little empty because while he’s grateful for everything—he didn’t want anything. he didn’t want designer shoes that he couldn’t even pronounce, he didn’t want bottles of skincare that cost more than his weekly paycheck, and he certainly didn’t want a new set of silk sheets. if anything, he wanted a fluffy blanket and maybe a new pair of fuzzy pajama pants.
eddie, on the other hand, wakes up to virtually nothing. wayne has no money and he scraps together what he can to buy eddie something he really wants. sometimes it’s a new record, sometimes it’s a new set of 20-sided die, and sometimes it’s a tickets for that upcoming friday to go see that new horror movie eddie’s been talking about nonstop. it’s never much but it always leaves eddie feeling seen and loved and fulfilled.
i think the first time eddie gets steve a christmas present, steve cries. and eddie is totally taken back because he thinks steve hates it so much, he thinks steve is fucking disgusted with his gift. but then steve throws himself over eddie and kisses all over his face because that stupid keychain with all of the kids initials on it is the best fucking gift steve has ever received from anyone

things that exist in my stranger things self-insert universe because my mind is an expansive universe:
- dustin goes to harvard for 2 years until one of his science professors challenges him that there’s no way otherworldly planes exist so dustin starts talking about the upside down and even brings evidence of the upside down and the literal CIA has to show up at his dorm room and force him to leave the college with a boatload of hush money (he drives back to hawkins in a brand new porsche and claudia loses her mind)
- eddie is borderline asexual simply because he does not give a FUCK. like he has sex with his partner if they want but it doesn’t consume him because there’s much more important things to focus on like hyper-analyzing every single metallica song that was ever created
- max is a raging bisexual and has an amicable breakup with lucas sometime in high school. they remain best friends <3
- lucas actually becomes a single dad! he went to ucla to play basketball and knocked up a girl his senior year by accident but she wanted nothing to do with the baby and dumped her onto lucas
- mike and el stay together because they’re trauma-bonded but also because they love each other. will goes to an art school in Indianapolis and moves to europe after graduation, never to be seen again (because i don’t want to think about noah schnapp ever again)
- we came up with this before the screenplay but dustin’s dad is from hawkins and his mom is from new jersey. they met because his dad went to college out there and they both ended up moving back to hawkins after his dad graduated. but then his dad was drafted into the vietnam war and died a month before nixon signed the paris peace treaty which is why claudia is a single-mom
- most of the parents grew up in hawkins together and the real reason ted wheeler is so annoyed at mike’s friends is because he hated their parents growing up and all they do is remind ted of his childhood 💀
- i’ve been dabbling with lucas x dustin and chrissy x robin, not sure yet
- two of our sonas are dating eddie and steve so we made them each have a daughter in the future so we can steddie-ify them lol

thinking about a hunger games au…
steve and nancy are career tributes from district 1 and they’ve been training their entire lives for the hunger games. steve is all about force—he’s brutal, strong, and a little sadistic. nancy is all about stealth—she’s witty, sarcastic, and moves quieter than a mouse. they don’t get along but because of their status, they form an alliance.
eddie and robin are from district 12. robin is nothing more than a normal girl when her name gets picked in the reaping and eddie volunteers as tribute when his younger brother dustin is picked. neither of them are prepared to fight in the hunger games, nor are they emotionally prepared, but there’s no other option.
(gooddddd—and imagine max is rue in this au and eddie holds her in his arms as she dies, singing her a song that his mom used to sing to him when he couldn’t sleep)

in 1989, dustin finds an engagement ring tucked in the back of steve’s side of his and eddie’s closet. it’s in a little red velvet box, squished between two pairs of tennis shoes, and at first dustin doesn’t know what it is. but then he opens the box and his jaw drops to the ground because 1) there’s a tiny row of diamonds around the entire ring and 2) he totally wasn’t supposed to find it. he snaps the box closed, puts it back where he found it, and crawls out of that closet like nothing happened. how the fuck was he going to keep this a secret?

i will see you guys next year (i am delusional)
imagine mike and dustin have a huge fight in season 5…
it starts as an argument over who gets to keep eddie’s guitar. wayne drops some things off with the boys and there’s no problem over who gets what until it comes to the guitar. lucas doesn’t want it, great, easy, but mike and dustin do.
mike thinks he deserves the guitar because it symbolizes his relationship with eddie. he looked up to eddie, he wanted to be like eddie. he started to grow his hair out like eddie and eddie got him into metal music and taught him how to be a better dungeon master. eddie even helped mike pick out his own guitar and taught him to play in his free time. in his eyes, it makes sense that he gets the guitar.
but dustin doesn’t think so. dustin thinks he deserves the guitar because he thinks he knew eddie better. eddie was his older brother, something dustin truly didn’t have, and he was there for him during that treacherous week. he was with eddie when he distracted the demobats and he was with eddie when he took his final breathes. having this guitar means that eddie will always remain with him and mike certainly would never relate to that.
and dustin tells mike this. he tells him how he wasn’t there, how he doesn’t know what it was like to have the entire town track you down because they think you killed someone. he doesn’t know what it’s like to be afraid like that, doesn’t know what it’s like to have someone die in your arms.
and mike retaliates. he’s been through more than dustin has, he’s put himself in danger more and saved more people than dustin has. he makes a specifically rough comment about how all dustin does is run away. he causes more problems for everyone and always find a way to take the easy way out. he calls dustin annoying and abrasive and says all he does is leach onto anyone who offers him a hand. but worst of all—he laughs in his face that dustin seriously thinks eddie liked him better. the only reason eddie took dustin under his wig that week was because mike wasn’t around.
they’re speaking with anger. with malice. and they probably don’t mean anything they’re saying to one another. they spiral all the way back to middle school, bringing up years and years of turmoil. awful words are flying out of their mouths faster than anyone can grab them and before the party knows it, dustin and mike are turning on their heel from another and swearing under their breathes that the other can graciously fuck off.
and the rest of the party simply look at each other with expressions of panic because this was absolutely the worst possible time for them to get into a fight like this. but the question remains: how the hell do they fix it?

In short, there’s this popular writer on Twitter and AO3 and her and the artist she works with are getting called out for fetishizing Steddie in their artwork and fanfics. They kind of push heteronormative stereotypes on Steve and Eddie, like by making Eddie little and feminine and Steve big and masculine or vice versa and a lot of MLM fans are starting to get uncomfortable with it; me being one of them.
eeeee that’s no bueno
i’m not mlm but i’m wlw so i honestly get this feeling :/ i see a lot of lesbian fanart where they’re drawn similarly to that and it def makes me uncomfortable too. i’m all for establishing physical builds in your style for fictional characters but i think it’s important to remind yourself that same sex couples can have the same build or similar builds and they won’t always have a big/small dynamic like a lot of mlm ships are portrayed as :( i’m sure there’s some that genuinely do but a lot of mlm and wlw ships are drawn like u said, with heteronormative stereotypes behind it when in reality—there’s a million different ways same sex couples can look, just like there’s a million different wants straight couples can look!
i doubt most fans create content with these stereotypes it mind, it’s probably just more of a subconscious thing they do especially if they’re cis or straight but i think it’s important to have these conversations with them about how their work is being perceived and how it could be perpetuating harm past their fictional world !!!
i don’t really follow the flight risk creators too much, i just know about it from how popular it got so quickly. but my point above stands for them, i doubt they drew/wrote steve and eddie like that with fetishizing intent so maybe it’s a good idea for you to bring this to their intention if u haven’t already! or any other mlm or gay fan that feels comfortable enough to let them know what’s going on with their content

someone asked me who was taller and what body types the guys have in my head but i deleted the ask like a silly little goose so:
steve is taller BUT only by a tiny bit. he has more muscle from years of playing sports, mostly in his arms and legs, but he isn’t super bulkier. i think he would get a soft little belly when he gets older, maybe one of those dad-bod beer bellies haha. shoulders are more broad n he has a more defined waist and chest.
eddie is a little bit shorter (like an inch at the very most) and he’s skinnier than steve because he doesn’t do anything to gain muscle LOL. he’s a little scrawny bc of this but not dainty and i think his waist and torso is very | |. his biceps are still pretty slim but more defined than the rest of his body because he’s constantly hauling around his guitar and amp. (he’s not weak!!!).
they have similar hand sizes and eddie wears a size M and steve wears a size L but they have similar enough measurements to share clothes without any problem. i think steve has big slappers tho and eddie’s got smaller feet so they cannot share shoes (not like eddie would wear any of steve’s sweaty gym shoes anyway LOL). but yeah casual eddie and steve, fully dressed, you can’t really tell the difference between them much unless you’re really comparing :p they are just two guys being guys
btw—i try not to focus much on their physical bodies unless i’m writing something that directly needs that description because it’s not that important in my dynamic but yeaaahhh to the anon who was wondering, this is basically how i imagine them in my head when i need to hahaha
eddie | steve (but imagine less bulky muscle)

even during their roughest fights, eddie would never call steve stupid. he might call him arrogant, or a dick, or a liar, but never stupid. because he knows how steve thinks of himself—even it was all lies—and the last thing eddie wants to do is remind steve of the pain from his past, remind steve of that feeling of not being good enough for every single person in his life. so, he’s careful with his words.
on the other hand, steve isn’t as careful. and during their roughest fights, he loses his composure, loses his rationality, and says a couple things he doesn’t really mean with an exasperated sigh. and they hurt eddie, but he knows his boyfriend is just angry, so he’s resilient and doesn’t let anything cut him deep enough. until, suddenly, there’s nothing he can do to stop the bleeding.
when steve calls eddie a freak, a word that slipped out of his mouth before he even realizes it, the damage is already done. the air snaps into silence and steve can’t think of anything other than how right his parents were—he truly was irrevocably stupid.
eddie feels a pain in his chest that he thinks is going to last evermore—not because steve called him a freak. but because he would never remind steve of that pain and was foolish enough to believe that steve would do the same.

it’s been a hell of a ride (loving you)
synopsis: set a year after the events of season four, in a timeline where vecna and the upside down are completely done, eddie is back to being his usual arrogant self. and his crime this time? calling steve ‘mommy’
ships: steve harrington x eddie munson, minor robin buckly x nancy wheeler, minor lucas sinclair x max mayfield
other characters: argyle, jonathan byers, mike wheeler, dustin henderson, and mentions of the party
content warnings: top!steve and bottom!eddie, light dom/sub, mommy kink, loads of sexual content (please read the tags on ao3!)
word count: 8773 [complete]
rating: NSFW, basically porn with feelings -- !!! MINORS DNI !!!
Steve Harrington has a dictionary of nicknames he’s collected throughout his life. In high school, his friends used to refer to him solely by his last name, and when he meets Robin Buckley, she starts to call him variations of his name, like ‘Stevie’ or ‘Steve-O.’ The kids call him anything under the sun, usually something stupid like ‘Skip’ or ‘Skete,’ and his new friends pass around inside jokes–like how Jonathan Byers called Steve ‘Snake’ for five months straight because someone misheard him introduce himself. For the most part, Steve doesn’t mind these nicknames.
Except for one.
Mike Wheeler calls him by the new nickname first. He’s trying to be funny and while Steve would attest that the nickname is the farthest thing from funny, it sticks like super glue. Within 24 hours, everyone in The Party is calling Steve ‘Mommy’ and by the end of the week, they’ve got the older teens on board.
Nancy Wheeler badgers Steve when he ties a plastic apron around his waist to wash a mountain of dishes after the kids demand to eat pizza off his ceramic holiday plates, echoing the nickname through the kitchen like a broken record. Jonathan and his new buddy, Argyle Rodriguez, mock Steve when he scolds them for lighting a joint inside the Hawkins High bathroom when they were supposed to be watching Lucas Sinclair play in a scrimmage. And whenever Steve does anything remotely nice to them, The Party chants the dreaded word–making Steve regret helping them at all.
And even with all of these excruciating instances, nothing compares to how Eddie Munson uses the nickname.
