Lindsey Graham:
“If we stop weapons necessary to destroy the enemies of state of Israel at a time of great peril, we will pay a price. This is obscene. It is absurd. Give Israel what they need to fight the war they can't afford to lose. This is Hiroshima & Nagasaki on steroids”

EYES ON THE CALIFORNIA ONLINE AGE VERIFICATION BILL-AB3080
Tumblr media
This is an ammendment to an already existing Californian law to prevent minors from purchasing items that are illegal to sell to minors, including alcohol, porn, tobacco, fireworks and the like. You can take a look at the most recent text here
Now, whats wrong with that ? It's important to protect minors!! Which is absolutely true!
However the issue here resides in the fact that websites selling such products will require adults to submit their ID to access their websites and purchase what they want.
And with data breaches being more and more frequent recently, this is a recipe for disaster.
It could also target sites such as Patreon, Fansly, Onlyfans(etc) which, people already submit their credit card to buy what they want already.
This would give a huge blow to Californian businesses and have **a ripple effect on the Internet in the US since a lot of tech companies are within California.**
There needs to be a better privacy law before any age verification bills can be actually effective and properly protect minors and privacy for everyone.
Remember the UK age verification bill ? Minors are already in danger because of having to show their ID due to data leaks.
Tumblr media
There are also many other issues with AB3080 that you NEED to keep in mind too :
No guarantee of personal privacy when submitting for Age verification when purchasing and ID protection after purchase. Who handles the ID? What ensures it is not held indefinitely, putting it at risk of a potential data breach?
The definition of what defines “harmful to minors” is too vague and overly broad to interpretation and could be abused and exploited in case of a political party change in California.
The 1/3rd provision is another over reach. Who will define what is porn? Are sales defined as direct sales or links to another site? It’s too broad and can be abused.
Fiscal impact has the potential of a loss of online sales tax revenue and drive businesses out of California.
Which is why, I AM URGING YOU TO CALL YOUR REPS AND TELL THEM TO VOTE NO !
Use this to contact your reps, it’s fast to use and there is a script for inspiration.
Find your reps:
https://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/
Send faxes to your reps with this:
Make sure to emphasize this will be bad for the economy of California, especially since California is ona tight budget this year.
If you try to contact them and it doesnt work, that must be because you’re not in Cali, that's ok, as you should sitll make posts about this using the tags #AB3080 and #NoOnAB3080
Please also note, notorious anti-LGBTQIA religious groups are behind the authoring of the language of this bill, primarily NCOSE & EXODUS CRY.
PLEASE REBLOG !

Dozens of Google employees began occupying company offices in New York City and Sunnyvale, California, on Tuesday in protest of the company’s $1.2 billion contract providing cloud computing services to the Israeli government. The sit-in, organized by the activist group No Tech for Apartheid, is happening at Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian’s office in Sunnyvale and the 10th floor commons of Google’s New York office. The sit-in will be accompanied by outdoor protests at Google offices in New York, Sunnyvale, San Francisco, and Seattle beginning at 2 pm ET and 11 am PT. Tuesday’s actions mark an escalation in a series of recent protests organized by tech workers who oppose their employer’s relationship with the Israeli government, especially in light of Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza. Just over a dozen people gathered outside Google’s offices in New York and Sunnyvale on Tuesday. Among those in New York was Google cloud software engineer Eddie Hatfield, who was fired days after disrupting Google Israel’s managing director at March’s Mind The Tech, a company-sponsored conference focused on the Israeli tech industry, in early March. Several hours into the sit-ins on Tuesday, Google security began to accuse the workers of “trespassing” and disrupting work, prompting several people to leave while others vowed to remain until they were forced out. The 2021 contract, known as Project Nimbus, involves Google and Amazon jointly providing cloud computing infrastructure and services across branches of the Israeli government. Last week, Time reported that Google’s work on Project Nimbus involves providing direct services to the Israel Defense Forces. No Tech for Apartheid is a coalition of tech workers and organizers with MPower Change and Jewish Voice for Peace, which are respectively Muslim- and Jewish-led peace-focused activist organizations. The coalition came together shortly after Project Nimbus was signed and its details became public in 2021.

My grandmother Naifa al-Sawada was born in June 1932. A beautiful girl with blue eyes, she was the only daughter to her parents. They were originally from Gaza but moved to nearby Bir al-Saba, where Naifa’s father Rizq worked as a merchant. She did well at school and in 1947 obtained the necessary certificate from the British – then the rulers of Palestine – to attend university. She did not do so, however. Her father was fearful about what could happen to her at a time when war in Palestine appeared imminent. At a young age, she married my grandfather Salman al-Nawaty and went to live in Gaza. Between 1947 and 1949, Zionist forces expelled approximately 800,000 Palestinians from their homes. Among those directly affected by the Nakba – Arabic for catastrophe – were Naifa’s own parents, who fled their home in Bir al-Saba for Gaza. Having witnessed the Nakba, Naifa encouraged her own children to defend Palestine. Naifa gave birth to four girls and six boys.Like so many mothers in Gaza, she experienced great loss. Her son Moataz went missing while traveling to Jerusalem in 1982. It is still not known what happened to him. Another son Moheeb, a journalist, left Palestine for Norway in 2007. Three years later he traveled to Syria. In January 2011, he went missing. The Syrian authorities subsequently confirmed to the Norwegian diplomatic service that he was imprisoned. But he has not been allowed to contact his family. We do not know his current whereabouts or even if he is alive or dead. My grandmother witnessed the first intifada from 1987 and 1993. On the streets around her, youngsters with stones and slingshots rose up against armed Israeli soldiers in tanks and military jeeps. During that time, her son Moheeb – the aforementioned journalist – was held for more than a year without charge or trial. That infamous practice is called administrative detention. My grandmother lived close to al-Shifa, Gaza’s largest hospital. She took great care of arranging everything in her home with her delicate hands. She used those same hands to comb her hair into braids. She memorized the Quran and took great interest in the education of her children and grandchildren. On 21 March this year, Israeli troops broke into my grandmother’s home. The soldiers displayed immense brutality. They ordered the women in our family to evacuate on foot and arrested the men. They would not allow the women to take my grandmother, who had Alzheimer’s disease, with them. The soldiers claimed that my grandmother would be safe. That was a lie. The invasion of my grandmother’s house took place amid Israel’s siege on al-Shifa hospital. My grandmother’s house was destroyed during that siege and she was killed. Her remains were found days after the Israeli troops eventually withdrew from the hospital earlier this month. She was killed – alone – in the same house where she had lived since 1955. We do not know if she suffered or if she died quickly. We do know that she was older than Israel’s merciless occupation.
