warnings: may have gone a little overboard for this fic being so short but crying, nightmares, death (doesn't ACTUALLY happen but Y/N says it's in the nightmare)

in this fic Y/N: has hair that is able to be tucked behind their ear (sorry to anyone this isn't inclusive to! feel free to request something else. that's just the prompt i spun on my wheel from my physical affection prompts!) and was at the park with ian

Ian wakes up to the sound of you crying next to him in bed. He can tell you're trying unsuccessfully to not  wake him up.

"Y/N- Y/N, hey now." Ian sits up and turns on the light next to the bed, getting a better look at your face. You look at him, sadly, another round of tears falling.

"I didn't mean to wake you up, I'm sorry..." You whisper, your voice cracking a bit. He  leans against the headboard next to you and gently turns your head to him.

"There's uh- No need. Never apologize for this... Here, look, what's going on?" Ian asks, gently tucking your hair behind your ear. You just shake your head and bury your face into his shoulder. He holds you close, his heart breaking as you cry. "P/N, hey... It's alright. I've gotcha."

You stay in his arms until you start to calm down. It's like his arms are the safest place in the world because every time you're in them, it feels like everything bad just melts away. When you finally calm down and the cries wracking your body finally stop you take a deep breath.

"Nightmare. The park... You... You didn't make it." You say, a few more years slipping down your cheeks. He gently wipes away the tears and smiles down at you.

"Well, your dreams are pretty silly huh? Can't get rid of me, uh, that- that easily now can you?" Ian teased, kissing your nose. You chuckle softly and hug him tight. "I'm right here. Not going anywhere."

"Love you, Ian."

"And I you, Y/N... Always."
