Is Pole Dance the same as Stripping?
I get a lot of comments saying something like “bro is a striper” (usually when a post breaks containment), so thought I might as well address the topic!

Libraries and Adult Lonliness
As we all know, making friends as adults is hard. And while the internet has made it easier to make friends with people around the world, actually meeting people you can meet with on a regular basis and just hang out with us tough. The common answer to meeting new people is to find people who are interested in the same stuff as you. As such, finding places to meet new people who may have similar interests to you is important. And that’s why I think the library is a great resource!
As a children’s librarian, one of the things I try to point out to parents when they come in to sign their kids up for the library is that we offer adult programs too. Obviously we have book clubs - my library has 4 different book clubs for people who read different types of books. I’ve posted about it before with knitting/crochet circles. But for people who have or want to explore different interests, and meet new people via that new interest, you may want to check your local library to see their programming. For example:
Hiking: Many libraries offer things like hiking kits. These can be things such as maps for local trails, hiking sticks, a water resistant backpack, binoculars, bird guides, and the like. But some libraries having hiking clubs, such as the Poughkeepsie Public Library Distruct in NY.
Tumblr media
Language Learning: Many libraries have access to language learning platforms such as Rosetta Stone or Mango Languages. But many other have dedicated classes where adults can come and learn languages. If you’re in L.A. county, the public library offers classes in beginner Russian, Chinese, Korean, Italian, Armenian, etc!
Music: there are many libraries that have maker spaces where you can go and record music. There’s one in the Newark Library and at a branch of the Brooklyn library. There are also ones that allow you to check out instruments. But there are also ones where you can receive free music lessons, such as the Dallas Public Library (this program was online during the pandemic but is now also offered in person!)
youtube
I could keep going.
Singing, dancing, theater, yoga, sketch comedy, creative writing, RC Cars, foraging, cemetery tour groups, jewelry making, baking, woodworking, painting, etc. If you have a niche interest or would like to get into a niche interest, there is a chance your library has had or will have a program about it. And if you’re looking to meet new people, it is a great place to start.

dear librarians who want to make their libraries actually accessible to everyone: please fight your city tooth and nail to have sidewalks leading to the library from every direction. Accessible sidewalks that have ramps at curbs and crosswalks that won't kill any pedestrian who dares to try and cross.
Get out of your car and walk the blocks around your library and see how far you can get without having to go into the road or the grass.
You may not have fire ants infesting every patch of open dirt where you live, but some of us are unlucky enough for that to be an actual threat that we have to contend with every time the sidewalk ends and we're met with a swath of grass.
Is the grass you find when the sidewalk ends someone's private property connected to a house? Are they going to harass anyone who tries walking across it, or will you have to walk in the road where cars speed by?
Is the grass "public" property, but completely untended and more than a foot tall?
Are there ramps where there are sidewalks, or even when a new patch of grass forms? Or are there curbs half a foot high?
What happens when it rains? Does the dirt there churn up into deep mud?
When it snows, does all of the snow from the street cleaners get shoved into a six-foot high wall right where pedestrians were supposed to be able to walk?
Is there adequate shade so that people can walk in the summer without being at serious risk of heat exhaustion?
If you want libraries to be accessible to everyone, get out of your car and try walking to your library. Walk from your library to a random destination of houses where people live. Even just go on google maps and use the street view to look at how many gaps in the sidewalks there are, if there are any to begin with.
And then fight your city tooth and nail to actually get proper sidewalks installed.

Bill Criminalizing Librarians Revived - again.
April 21, 2023: After the sound defeat of language calling for felony charges against librarians and educators in SB 12 and SB 380 earlier in April, the Indiana legislature is once more considering criminalizing librarians and educators for the materials on their shelves.
Here's the Indiana Capital Chronicle on the situation:
The legislators themselves don't know yet what bill the language will be slipped into, but we expect they'll hear it next week, possibly as early as Monday, April 24.
What To Do:
They're moving fast, so if you live in Indiana and feel strongly about libraries and censorship, please call your reps and senators NOW. Even if you already contacted them earlier this session!
Here's how to find and contact your legislators: https://iga.in.gov/legislative/find-legislators/
Here are some talking points and the general gist of our concerns:
Charging librarians and educators with felonies is not an appropriate response to the issue of challenging books.
It is a librarian or educator’s job to ensure that children have access to a range of well-reviewed quality books. They are trained and follow objective processes for material selection.
Libraries and schools already have processes in place for challenging books on their shelves, and these processes work.
And here's our own webpage where you can catch up on the situation and stay updated: https://www.lcplin.org/billupdates
If you don't live in Indiana:
Please do not contact the Indiana legislature about this! Instead, you can just hit that reblog button and help us reach as many people as possible.
Thank you, everyone, for your continued support of libraries and librarians!!
EDIT: This version has been getting notes lately - please see the final update from 4/28/23 to see how everything resolved. (It was a bit of a mixed bag.) Thank you!

Oh goody, I'm not the only one that realized that pointy nymph ears might be a problem!
Methinks we were DENIED the best of the Hera/Kronos fight and only got the joy of seeing his fingers get broken.
Yes, now that Kronos has FINALLY been dealt with, let's move on to the next important thing-- helping Melinoe go back home. After that, we can contend with Uranus Ouranos and Asspollo Apollo.
This week Lore Olympus: Timely Terminations
Shiny rocks. I feel like we've had this chapter title before? Also oh it's an episode about Hades
How did I know that Kronos would try some fuck shit like this. Nah nah Kronos that ain't working.
Hera what is that fighting stance. Looks weak sauce.
"we are both equal in power and strength". Are you though? Are you really?
We won't fight??? Booo. I wanted to see Hera kick his ass
Okay?? But. It doesn't have to be a fair fight. Can can fight him And kick his ass Hera.
Why are you two talking? Why are you talking and not taking him down?
Hera ✨ flamboyant hand gesture ✨
"today I will not be flattering you" great can you kill him instead? Also what is that face.
Oh good I was hoping she was going to break his fingers. Break more of his bones please.
... What is happening
A Persephone decoy???! And you think the nymph ears wouldn't be a dead give away or are we admitting the nymphs look just like Persephone so much so that people confuse them and there's nothing to differentiate them.
That Daphne with Hecate?
That poor nymph just getting shoved aside
Where the fuck did she get this ginormous cup from? And why does she need it. Why is she thirsty.
Yeah you wanna tell everyone you left Hera alone with her abuser Persephone? I know she said too but still.
What do you mean where isn't she she's not lost in time you should know.
Again the only thing that matters is how good Hera looks... Smh
Ah! She's looking right at the camera wtf! Fish eyes!
Is she breaking the fourth wall now. "No i didn't talk to Erebus silly! Why would I need to? That was our original plan but I just needed to believe in myself" feels like a threat somehow.
Why does Kronos keep changing colors. With Hera he's like red/purple and blue with Hades
Would he not be in one piece? You stopped attacking him.
Also is Hades now giant like Kronos??
Cause you're paralyzed with fear probably Hades.
Oh look he learned a lesson. And no therapy too. Wow.
"you couldn't protect your mother, your brothers" bitch whose fault was that? You attacked them.
You know I actually like this visual interpretation of Kronos knocking Hades down emotionally back to a child-like state. It's a good visual of making him feel small and powerless and like he was as a kid.
That said, what happened to Persephone? She's fine? What is Kronos talking about. Does he know about Apollo? How?
Ah no. Hades is back to regressing. Dude I thought we were making progress. (He still needs therapy).
Ah yes. Like father like daughter.
And also parallels between HxP - needing their kids to carry the emotional weight I mean remind them of their inner power to defeat the big bad.
I like that Kronos is gripping his chest as though Hades words are physically affecting him... Somehow.
Yeah why are you letting him put that onus (responsibility) on you Hades? Again we've been through this how many times? I know it's hard to deflect a parents harsh words and not internalize them but damn we do this back and forth with Hades so often.
No it's not but I say again again we have been through this how many times Hades. You know it's not your fault. The audience knows. Persephone knows. Everyone. Fucking. Knows. You are going through a rinse and repeat character arc at this point.
Oohh. He's inside Kronos and doing that thing he did when Kronos possessed him and choked Persephone. He's making shiny rocks again.
Well sometimes people are assholes Hades and teach what their taught.
It took us.... 275 chapters for Hades to have his epiphany?
"I want you to know something" please don't say you forgive him. Please don't say you forgive him. I hate narratives that make the child apologize for their parents shitty behavior and forgive them. (*Cough* Thanatos)
Fuck me. Godsdammit.
Ayy Hera stomping on Kronos.
I mean... That's valid. Forgive and move on. (You don't Have to forgive him though. Thats very cliche).
Why is Hades now bigger than Kronos?
Also man I wanted see Hera kick Kronos' ass. All we got was her stepping on his face and snarking at him.
Is Hera calling down starlight wtf is going on. How would this hurt Kronos.
Oh he turned him into a diamond. Course he did. Those expensive fucking things.
Oh okay. That's it I guess? End of time?
Now are we gonna go back and deal with Ouranos or Apollo?

Lore Olympus is a fight this week, but not quite what was expected.
Tumblr media
The battle commences with Hera not only telling Kronos that she's not going to play nice anymore, but affirming that she is definitely kicking his ass.
Kronos tries the "we're equals, let's rule together" bit.
Nope, not happening.
*crunching of Kronos' fingers*
Tumblr media
Whoa whoa whoa..... wait a minute..... Hecate really thought a Persephone look-alike was a good idea?
If Demeter saw that, she'd pick up on it right away. And we would likely have more Demeter rage.....
Also, the nymphs have pointed ears. As a goddess, Persephone does not. It's one thing when humans cosplay elves by ADDING pointed ears, but I imagine it'd be a lot harder to hide pointed ears. Magic COULD potentially be used to hide them (and Hecate IS the goddess of magic), so it's not IMPOSSIBLE, but potentially IMPLAUSIBLE.
Persephone is back!
Hecate: *physically telling the nymphs to fuck off*
Persephone is a thirsty girl after her trip to Tartarus!
Glad Persephone is amazed by Hera's titan-form, but yikes almighty! What happened to YOUR proportions????
Tumblr media
We shift over to Hades' confrontation with Kronos. Hades tries to mentally defend himself, but Kronos' abuse still cuts deep. He shrinks him down to a child and swallow Hades yet again.
Even as he does so, Kronos continues to torment him...
Tumblr media
...that is, until Kronos mentions Melinoe. At this, Hades comes out of stupor. Hades reiterates the conversation he had with his future daughter, that Kronos' bullshit is not theirs to fix. It is not their job to pay for Kronos' horrible deeds.
As he does so, Hades gradually "grows up" physically and mentally pushes through the fog....
Tumblr media
...and, at last, he escapes from Kronos' hold on his own. (Well, maybe not ENTIRELY on his own; Hera is also kicking his ass elsewhere simultaneously.)
As a final word, Hades "closes" the encounter with Kronos, not with a violent blow, but by somehow sealing him up.
Tumblr media
This is the closure Hades needed. Hopefully, this is enough to hold the titan away for good. We certainly don't want Kronos popping out of this gem like a pokémon anytime soon.
Anyway, thanks for coming to my LO post!

I don't personally use Tiktok, but I see the ban as censorship and, therefore, I am against it being banned.
Also, a lot of the first-hand footage coming out of Palestine is getting through on Tiktok. You know, all the stuff the mainstream media doesn't want you to see or know about.
Tumblr media
A bill that President Joe Biden approved mandates that ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, give out its assets within nine months to a year in order to prevent the applicability of an effective ban in the US.

Those who protest against Israel's genocide are punished for antisemitism.
But for some strange reason, authorities have never cracked down on antisemitism any other time. Any other time, antisemitism is considered free speech.
It's almost as if they know damn well that protesting against Israel is not antisemitism.

JEWISH PEACE ACTIVIST: "THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT DOES EVERYTHING IT CAN TO SILENCE US."
📹 Jewish German peace activist, Udi Raz, based in Berlin, accuses the German government of suppressing peace protests against the Israeli occupation's genocide in Gaza.
According to Raz, the German authorities continue to suppress the Palestine solidarity movement, accusing the German authorities of doing all it can to silence protesters.
The activist slams the Israeli occupation, which publicly accuses the pro-Palestine peace movement of antisemitism, while at the same time, the Zionist occupation declares its ability to speak for all Jews around the world.
"Israel cannot speak in the name of Jews," Raz tells Anadolu News Agency. "Whoever claims otherwise, to my understanding, this is an antisemitic claim."
"Jews are diverse. Jews live in diverse and different geopolitical contexts and national contexts," the Jewish peace activist continues.
"We Jews who live here in Germany, of course, we care about other Jews who live elsewhere, but it does not mean that we are ambassadors of a racist state called the state of Israel," Raz added.
