Henry had always been weak for a nice smile, but his was impossible to ignore.

Blame it on summer heat and a fresh flush in his cheeks. Blame it on sunset painting the outdoor bar sweltering, romantic colors. Blame it on two healthy glasses of albariño thrumming in his bloodstream, or the good music floating on the air.

Henry could blame it on anything liked if he thought long and hard about it, but that didn’t change much at the end. The core remained the same: he had been gone from the jump.

thank you @taste-thewaste and @firenati0n for the tag!!! ive pulled out an old wip ive slowly chipped away at here – a funny little mistaken identity au where, despite what alex mistakenly thinks, henry is not actually a prostitute ;)

Pez shakes his head and slips away from his companion to smack a wet kiss to Henry’s cheek. His burgundy lipstick is smeared when he pulls away, and Henry can feel the tacky remnants on his skin. Lovely. “Go rest your head, poppet. Count sheep for me! At least ten!” “Will do,” Henry says with a laugh. In the last second, he remembers to grab the shot glass, and awkwardly slips his arm through a gap in the thirsty bar crowd to drop it on a rubber mat.  Ten minutes into the wait for his uber, Henry is blowing over his frosty fingers and wishing he’d had the foresight to hang about inside instead of a few blocks away. He could swear it hadn’t been this bad when they’d arrived. The light of a diner and weak street lamps are just about giving him some coverage to see more than a few feet in front of himself. “Bloody Pez,” he mutters, rubbing over his seasonally-challenged shirt. “Coats aren’t for clubs Henry,” he mocks, “we’ll be sweaty and drunk, you’ll barely feel it! Honestly.”

Something presses into his shoulder, and then Liam’s low voice is in his ear. “C’mon Alex. Let’s get you home.”

His expression sealed up tight, like the rock rolled in front of Lazarus’ tomb. Those blue eyes turned dark and cold, like the storm tossed waters they had sailed through to reach this godforsaken island.  For the first time since Alex had laid eyes on him, this man – whoever he was – looked indeed dangerous. Murderous. And, if the flush in his pale cheeks was correct, a bit ashamed. “The man you are looking for is over there,” he hissed, pointing across the room to another man. This one was dark-haired, dressed in red finery as he lounged in a chair next to King James and looking damned smug about it. “Excuse me–.” Alex reached out for his sleeve, jerking his hand and sloshing his wine into the white lace of his cuffs. “Who are you then?” Blue eyes narrowed. “What do you care?” “I don’t.” “Then let me go in peace.”

I have this bc that at some point in their relationship, Henry and Alex try to vary their sex life by trying a bunch of new positions (normal and ridiculous) and let’s just say some are more successful than others
