📍🇸🇪 @cafehusaren 📸 The house where Café Husaren is located is the largest in all of Haga and dates back to the 19th century. ✨️ The whole house is K-Märkt, which means “listed building” in Swedish, it is an important building whose architecture cannot be changed without permission from the government, so to speak. 📸 Turin typicals? The ol'orange trams, dating back to the 50s, and the most curious building in Turin, literally called "slice of polenta". 🏗 History: La “Fetta di Polenta” ⚒️ The building stands in the Vanchiglia district, which was, among other things, the name of the builders' company which was commissioned to construct the building in 1840. 🗼 At the time, Alessandro Antonelli, the well-known designer of the Mole, was also a member of the company , who wanted to test his qualities with this construction. 🔑 This building, designed by Antonelli on his own land, was undertaken more as a bet than as a real construction requirement. 🧰 Looking at the dimensions of the sides of the building, which has a very narrow trapezoidal-triangular shape (16mX5mX54cm), one can better understand the exceptional nature of the work. 🪜 The building consists of 9 floors, 2 of which are underground, connected by a small stone scissor staircase. 🌡 On the 54 cm side, visible in the last slide, to optimize the space as much as possible, Antonelli decided to place the flue there. 🪞 The overall height of the building is instead 24 meters. The first three floors were completed in 1840, with the next three added in 1881. 🌽 ok, but: what is polenta?? • Polenta (/pəˈlɛntə, poʊˈ-/, Italian: [poˈlɛnta]) is a dish of boiled cornmeal that was historically made from other grains. It is the Princess Isabella Bridge, the second brick bridge in Turin and certainly one of the most beautiful bridges in the Piedmontese capital." 🚂 "Built by the Civic Art Office between 1876 and 1880 on a project by the engineer Ernesto Ghiotti, the Isabella bridge was built with the aim of connecting the Valentino Park with the railway, given the great urban expansion that affected the city in the last decades of the 19th century." 🧱🌸🧱 "The bridge, which delimits the Valentino's Park to the south, is 130 meters long and 12 meters wide. It is made up of 5 arches made of masonry with exposed bricks of an elegant pink color that stands out from the contrast with the white of the rosettes.
