God our Refuge
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46:11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[11] The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah
Refuge. It has occured 3 times in this chapter. Verse 7 and in verse 1. Refuge in verse 1 stands for to take shelter, to trust, hope. Refuge in verse 7 and 11 stands for a high place like a cliff. The height brings security, it brings a safe place to retreat to.
• ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭144:2‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[2] My lovingkindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, My shield and the One in whom I take refuge, Who subdues my people under me.
• ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭144:1‭-‬2‬ ‭NET‬‬
[1] The Lord, my protector, deserves praise – the One who trains my hands for battle, and my fingers for war, [2] who loves me and is my stronghold, my refuge and my deliverer, my shield and the One in whom I take shelter, who makes nations submit to me.
• ‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭22:2‭-‬3‬ ‭NET‬‬
[2] He said: “The Lord is my high ridge, my stronghold, my deliverer. [3] My God is my rocky summit where I take shelter, my shield, the horn that saves me, my stronghold, my refuge, my Savior. You save me from violence!
Retreat to Him all the time.

Pour Out Your Heart to God
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭62:7‭-‬8‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[7] In God is my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, And my refuge, is in God. [8] Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
Pour out your heart before Him. Pour in Hebrew stands for to shed, to spill or cast. Spill out everything. From your praises to your complaints. Everything.
• ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6‭-‬7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
[6] Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; [7] and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

God's Word
God's word is all need. It is enough for me. It lets me know what is wrong or right. It corrects me and leads me in the right path. One spoken word of God is all I need. Thats it really.
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:11‭-‬13‬ ‭NET‬‬
[11] Thus we must make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by following the same pattern of disobedience. [12] For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the point of dividing soul from spirit, and joints from marrow; it is able to judge the desires and thoughts of the heart. [13] And no creature is hidden from God, but everything is naked and exposed to the eyes of Him to whom we must render an account.
• ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:17‬ ‭NET‬‬
[17] And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
• ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭NET‬‬
[4] But He answered, “It is written, ‘Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Adversity Makes us Stronger
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭1:12‬ ‭NET‬‬
[12] But the more the Egyptians oppressed them, the more they multiplied and spread. As a result the Egyptians loathed the Israelites,
The more the Egyptians oppressed them, the more they multiplied and spread. Its interesting that instead of making the Israelites weaker, it made them stronger in numbers and in strength. God will allow adversity or opression to come our way, not to punish us, but to make us stronger. The punishment was already taken by Christ.
• ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:6‭-‬11‬ ‭NET‬‬
[6] “For the Lord disciplines the one He loves and chastises every son He accepts.” [7] Endure your suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is there that a father does not discipline? [8] But if you do not experience discipline, something all sons have shared in, then you are illegitimate and are not sons. [9] Besides, we have experienced discipline from our earthly fathers and we respected them; shall we not submit ourselves all the more to the Father of spirits and receive life? [10] For they disciplined us for a little while as seemed good to them, but He does so for our benefit, that we may share His holiness. [11] Now all discipline seems painful at the time, not joyful. But later it produces the fruit of peace and righteousness for those trained by it.

Praise God
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭150:1‭-‬6‬ ‭NET‬‬
[1] Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary! Praise Him in the sky, which testifies to His strength! [2] Praise Him for His mighty acts! Praise Him for His surpassing greatness! [3] Praise Him with the blast of the horn! Praise Him with the lyre and the harp! [4] Praise Him with the tambourine and with dancing! Praise Him with stringed instruments and the flute! [5] Praise Him with loud cymbals! Praise Him with clanging cymbals! [6] Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Praise in Hebrew stands for to shine or to make a show, not of yourself, but of God. Boast about Him. Praise the Lord because He is worthy.
• ‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭22:4‬ ‭NET‬‬
[4] I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I was delivered from my enemies.
• ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭116:17‬ ‭NET‬‬
[17] I will present a thank offering to You, and call on the name of the Lord.
• ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:15‬ ‭NET‬‬
[15] Through Him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, acknowledging His name.

Vengeance is Mine
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭26:7‭-‬12‬ ‭NET‬‬
[7] So David and Abishai approached the army at night and found Saul lying asleep in the entrenchment with his spear stuck in the ground by his head. Abner and the army were lying all around him. [8] Abishai said to David, “Today God has delivered your enemy into your hands. Now let me drive the spear right through him into the ground with one swift jab! A second jab won’t be necessary!” [9] But David said to Abishai, “Don’t kill him! Who can extend his hand against the Lord’s chosen one and remain guiltless?” [10] David went on to say, “As the Lord lives, the Lord Himself will strike him down. Either his day will come and he will die, or he will go down into battle and be swept away. [11] But may the Lord prevent me from extending my hand against the Lord’s chosen one! Now take the spear by Saul’s head and the jug of water, and let’s get out of here!” [12] So David took the spear and the jug of water by Saul’s head, and they got out of there. No one saw them or was aware of their presence or woke up. All of them were asleep, for the Lord had caused a deep sleep to fall on them.
It is far better to let the Lord handle it when it comes to vengeance. David didn't want to hurt or kill king Saul. He let the Lord handle it. Paul said it best.
• ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:17‭-‬21‬ ‭NET‬‬
[17] Do not repay anyone evil for evil; consider what is good before all people. [18] If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all people. [19] Do not avenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God’s wrath, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. [20] Rather, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his head. [21] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Get Back Up
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24:16‬ ‭NET‬‬
[16] Although a righteous person may fall seven times, he gets up again, but the wicked will be brought down by calamity.
A righteous person may fall seven times, he gets back up.
• ‭‭Micah‬ ‭7:8‭-‬10‬ ‭NET‬‬
[8] My enemies, do not gloat over me! Though I have fallen, I will get up. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. [9] I must endure the Lord’s anger, for I have sinned against Him. But then He will defend my cause, and accomplish justice on my behalf. He will lead me out into the light; I will experience firsthand His deliverance. [10] When my enemies see this, they will be covered with shame. They say to me, “Where is the Lord your God?” I will gloat over them. Then they will be trampled down like mud in the streets.
I will get up. That is an attitude everyone should have. I will get up. The apostle Paul says it best.
• ‭‭‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:8‭-‬10‬ ‭NET‬‬
[8] For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, regarding the affliction that happened to us in the province of Asia, that we were burdened excessively, beyond our strength, so that we despaired even of living. [9] Indeed we felt as if the sentence of death had been passed against us, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead. [10] He delivered us from so great a risk of death, and He will deliver us. We have set our hope on Him that He will deliver us yet again,
• ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:8‭-‬9‬ ‭NET‬‬
[8] We are experiencing trouble on every side, but are not crushed; we are perplexed, but not driven to despair; [9] we are persecuted, but not abandoned; we are knocked down, but not destroyed,

Read His Word
Psalms 119:9-16
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to Your word. I seek You with all my heart; do not let me stray from Your commands. I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You. Praise be to You, Lord; teach me Your decrees. With my lips I recount all the laws that come from Your mouth. I rejoice in following Your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on Your precepts and consider Your ways. I delight in Your decrees; I will not neglect your word.
Hide His word in your heart. It will keep you and it will guard you.
• Colossians 3:15-17... Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Meditate on God's Word and Do It
Psalms 119:14-16
I rejoice in following Your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. I meditate on Your precepts and consider Your ways. I delight in Your decrees; I will not neglect Your word.
I will not neglect Your word. In other words, "I will not forget Your word". We should also do what it says.
• James 1:22-25... Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

We Are His
Genesis 2:7
Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.
Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground. LORD God in Hebrew is in plural form, meaning gods. The word formed in Hebrew stands for to squeeze into shape like how a potter does with clay.
There is only one God with three persons. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Trinity. God said in chapter one about creating man.
• Genesis 1:26... Then God said, “Let Us make mankind in Our image, in Our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
Us would be the Trinity.
• Psalms 100:1-3... Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture.
It is He who made us, we are His.
• Ephesians 2:10... For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Rejoice Always
1 Samuel 2:1
Then Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in Your deliverance.
You know there is a difference between our heart and physical being. The heart is what God looks at. Hannah is a perfect example. Chapter 1 she prays to God in her heart; Eli the priest thinks she is drunk; she gets pregnant and now we are here in chapter 2. Her heart again rejoices. She prayed for a child and she got one.
• 1 Samuel 1:12-14... As she kept on praying to the Lord, Eli observed her mouth. Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk and said to her, “How long are you going to stay drunk? Put away your wine.”
Another observation or side note: Eli is a priest. Even priests make mistakes. They are flawed also just like us. In Eli's case he surmised, meaning that he thought she was drunk without confirmation of the truth.
• Philippians 4:4-7... Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Entertaining Strangers
Genesis 19:1-3
The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. “My Lords,” he said, “please turn aside to your servant’s house. You can wash your feet and spend the night and then go on your way early in the morning.” “No,” they answered, “we will spend the night in the square.” But he insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and they ate.
But Lot insisted so strongly that they did go with him and entered his house. He invited the angels with sincerity. It is part of our God given duty to entertain guests, to show hospitality. You will never know, you may be entertaining angels.
• Hebrews 13:1-3... Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.
