I am not unaware of the negatives of Biden's presidency, and I am not trying to elide or forgive them. I'm reblogging posts about the Biden administration because I think it's really important that potential voters in the US realize that there is, in fact, a very big difference between the two parties, and voting for Biden is not just damage control--it actually does good. It's okay, you can actually feel a little excited about making meaningful progress, and not just hold your nose.
He's been very unflashy. He's not a great leader, he's not charismatic and he knows it, but he's an adroit politician and administrator, and he's been getting things done. Letting Trump win at this point would be tantamount to throwing the entire country on the bonfire. It's not a choice between bad and bad, it's a choice between meaningful, if imperfect, progress and fucking doom.

over on my post about Taylor Swift's enduring heterosexuality there's been a recent rash of people in the tags saying something to the effect of "obviously Taylor Swift is straight, no queer woman would date Matty Healy." which is frustrating, because white bisexual women date little shithead racist men all the time. having a racist boyfriend doesn't mean someone isn't really bisexual, it means that being queer doesn't prevent you from being racist. the thing that makes Taylor Swift straight is that she's straight, not that she's dated objectionable men.

Hate starts young. Kids are being taught to be violent towards trans people. Recently many trans teens have been attacked by other kids. The most recent reported transphobic attack done by children was done by a group of 10 youths around 12. The children who were attacked were only 3. They were targeted because their father is a transgender man.
The toddlers were reportedly subjected to verbal and physical abuse after a group of about 10 youths, aged around 12, tripped and pushed them, while they were in park. The youths also launched transphobic insults at the youngsters, making fun of their father before he moved in to take them home.
The twins didn’t know what to do. They’re only three. One of these young people had pulled one of the girls off one of the rides in the park at the outset which really upset her. They followed them out of the park at Glenbryn and started tripping them up. One of the twins was pushed into a wall and hit her head. It was so upsetting and frightening for these children and their dad.
Belfast trans woman Adrianne Elson, who has spoken out before on issues affecting the trans community, said the incident was “horrific.” She said: “These were children themselves doing this, some of them around 12-years-old, who should have known better but it went on and on as they tried to go home. They were saying to the twins ‘your dad’s a girl’ at first and laughing but it just got worse and worse and more and more threatening.”

Yeah why are cis women allowed more leeway than trans people (particularly trans men in this case) when having internalized misogyny , or having hangups about femininity .Why are people so obsessed with trans mens misogyny as opposed to anyone else. Why are they poised as being "especially" misogynistic
Is it that we are held at a higher standard? is it that trans people are expected to be perfect representations of our group at all times? Are trans men not allowed to be imperfect without accusing them of having privilege they don't have?

I think there is something between the fact that people will hear a woman (in fiction or a celebrity) likes other women and immediately clock her as a lesbian and the concept of lesbianism truly being about love for women and NOT about hatred of men.
Don't get me wrong; there is some hell of erasure her for multi-attraction spectrum* (mspec) women, but I don't think the idea that lesbianism is an attraction based on "non-men" or repulsion/un-attraction to men holds up with this concept. I think we see it often enough when a woman is shown to be attracted to women (sometimes whether or not the woman shows any attraction to men) that most people's idea of what a lesbian is deep down is (at the very least) attraction to women.
Maybe this is baseless, but I want to see what other's think. But this is not an invitation to shit on other people's identities or be an asshole. I just want to hear about your thoughts, not which queer is valid or what names you want to call other queers.
*I could even claim that mspec lesbianism is not very morally apprehensive as many people think it is to themselves as well. But I don't quite have the words to talk about how multisexuality and lesbianism become synonymous with certain people (i.r.l. and in fiction) in an individual's head regardless of their opinions on the validity of mspec lesbians.

It's perfectly fine to be uncomfortable with femininity if you had it forced upon you as a trans person btw. Some of us will never be comfortable wearing makeup, having long hair, wearing skirts or being called "girl" and it's not only perfectly ok, it adds to the beautiful rainbow of diversity that is queerness.
It's not toxic masculinity if it's gendered trauma from having been a trans person in a cissexist society all your life — and besides, the whole point of transitioning is figuring out who you are and what brings you joy! You don't need to repent for your personal discomfort with femininity. You don't need to force yourself into another box that doesn't feel right. I spent 27 long years trying to do just that & guess what, it didn't work!
There are plenty of flamboyant gay men out there who wear earrings and heels but hate women. Feminism isn't what's in your closet or in your face and misogyny isn't a type of gender expression either. Don't let people make you feel that way. Here's your free license to do whatever you want forever.

discrimination against trans men is literally just misdirected transmisogyny, and i don't see how it could be anything else- when transphobes go after trans men, it's just to further demonize trans women and treat them like predators who are going after young girls; if trans men didn't exist, transmisogyny would still exist, but if trans women didn't exist, there would be no systemic discrimination against trans men
Alright, this is a tad long but it’s for the benefit of anyone who isn’t sure about this position and would like my thoughts on it.
Sorry, but this is a terrible take and not reflective of reality at all. I understand why you might feel that way considering a lot of transphobia directed at transmasculine people ties into transmisogyny against transfeminine people, like in the example you gave. Additionally, trans men do at times experience transmisogyny. However, that is not the majority of it. Even when it comes to the infantilization and characterization of transmascs as mentally ill, delusional young girls mutilating themselves, the cause is not always attributed to trans women. I encourage you to look into the idea of Rapid-Onset Gender Dysphoria (ROGD) as it applies to transmascs and the idea of them spreading a “social contagion” within groups of “young girls.” Transmascs’ bodies are treated as ruined and diseased, more and more the further we transition into masculinity. There is a full transphobic book on the subject focusing on transmascs, called Irreversable Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters.
It is thoroughly untrue that transphobia against transmascs (transandrophobia) would cease to exist without transmisogyny. This stance leads me to believe you are relatively unfamiliar with some of the unique ways transmasculine people experience transphobia. I can absolutely promise you it is frequently directed at them. Your hypothetical is unrealistic to me, but I want to note: gender non-conformity is still punished outside transmisogyny. Misogyny still occurs outside just transmisogyny.
Fear and disgust at pregnant trans men is not transmisogyny. The idea of “lost lesbians”/“butch flight” is not transmisogyny. The corrective rape of transmascs by cis people as a means of detransition is not transmisogyny. Being called privileged gender traitors trying to climb up a rung in the patriarchy is not transmisogyny. At the least, not nearly as much as it is classic transandrophobia. All transphobia is connected, that much is true. But other types are just as serious and oppressive of systems as transmisogyny. Please seek out a more diverse selection of transmasculine people’s experiences before you try to theorize about their oppression; I think you may find them enlightening.

You will not be able to fully understand or relate to people with differing disabilities. Being disabled yourself does not give you immunity to having biases, ableist ideas, or misunderstandings about people with different disabilities. We all have unique struggles and things that help/hurt us, and it's both beautiful and frustrating. It's what makes our community strong but it also can lead to infighting and miscommunication. Be aware of other disabilities, listen to people outside your specific condition. Don't talk over others and if you do apologize and learn from it. Don't assume because YOU haven't encountered something that it means anyone talking about it is lying or exaggerating. We can still have each other's backs without having the same experiences. We can do this. Take my hand.

We always have.
Anyways, folks, block them. They don't deserve your energy.
People really think when you talk about lesbians being men or having relationships with men means you want them personally to go sleep with every man and not that you want every lesbian to have their own autonomy to decide what lesbianism means to them personally.
Like literally, the people who make large ass call out posts or posts that whine that there are people who are mspec lesbians or lesbian men or just that some lesbians have sex with men always make it so personal no matter if they are a lesbian or not. They seem to not be able to remove themselves from someone else's lesbianism and autonomy.
No one (seriously, no one besides actual lesbophobes) are claiming that you, a lesbian, has to have any relation to men. You do not have to date or have sex with lesbian men (or mspec lesbians), and guess what! We don't want to do those things with you either. No one is saying that because a small percentage of lesbians might have sex with men and/or be attracted to men, you as a lesbian have to. I don't know why you decided that you have to live in a world with communal absolutes. Not all lesbians are you, and you are not all lesbians (like really do you like the same women as every other lesbian? No, because you aren't other lesbians). Let lesbians have autonomy. Let lesbians live. Let queer people be!
Tldr: you don't have to do what other lesbians do. Just because a lesbian has any kind of relationship with men doesn't mean you have to. Other lesbians existing do not negate your lesbianism.

I noticed today that the deadname of a client was clearly visible in their client file because it was their legal name, and flagged it for IT. I specifically flagged it as "Hey, if someone sees this and calls our client the wrong name, we'll lose them as a client." IT emailed me back immediately, and it's now invisible except on their contract with us, which the majority of us don't have direct access to, as opposed to their client file.
The reason I flagged it framing it as a loss is that what matters to most companies is money. If you can flag a bigoted practice as something that will lose customers, clients, or get them a lawsuit, that is significantly more likely to get taken care of quickly than trying to appeal to their better nature. I could have flagged it as "Hey, this is going to make our client really upset if they hear it.", which was my actual motivation for flagging it, but if I had, then it probably would have been taken care of in a few days or even weeks, not hours.
Always hit them with the profit argument for quick and decisive action.

Any conspiracy theory about people going missing in National Parks is automatically silly to me. Like "Why are National Parks such a hotbed of disappearances???" because they're full of idiots. You've got thousands of people who've never pissed outdoors in their life wandering around the woods/desert/mountain with zero experience and zero gear and zero understanding that this place can kill them. You don't see as many disappearances in wild areas because people don't go to them unless they have some background knowledge. Whereas you get tour buses full of old folks and suburban families shuttling people into National Parks 365 days a year. If you took the same amount of buffoons and dropped them in the actual wilderness the disappearances would be significantly higher than at the parks. Use your brain.
