I was listening to Familyjules/Lollia's Bury the Light cover for some of this. I like their different approach to the more growly parts of the song. The vibes of that cover influenced this piece a decent bit.

punishing gray raven but it's just the postapocalyptic rpg run by a very determined Luna for her younger sister and her friends. Chapter 1 to 8 is their shaky start to getting used to the system before they hit their stride, Luna gets better at narration, and a couple very weird dice rolls lead to wild story adaptation.

A (late) piece for dmcweek2024 day 4! I was buzzing to put forward something for the week. Prompt was alt universe.

AU where Eva survived the fire and had to figure out a way forward, believing the twins dead. She becomes an RPG shopkeeper selling wares ranging from antique books to magical goods (Devil May Scry). She's also out for Mundus' blood.

I had...so many more ideas that I'm leaving out to keep this short. It's fun to think how she'd mesh with the cast.

Like! her and Lady. Mother that lost her kid and kid that lost her mother. It writes itself how much unwitting projection can go wrong. And pretty much everything about her, the twins, and Trish :)

In terms of backstory:

After the fire she's alone. Her birth family disowned her long ago. She thinks about revamping the mansion but the idea of staying in that empty space with only memories for company is too much. So she eventually opens a small store.

Starts off paranoid and distant. Still is distant but gets entangled with the local community overtime. Greets people by name and they'll chat about how life has been going. This includes demon hunters and demons and supernatural beings living peacefully; her shop becomes a small safe haven to exchange information to stay safe.

Gets very good at forging protective charms. Haunted by the memory of the enchanted closet, smashed in and empty.

A regular is a schoolgirl who originally came to pick up reserved books for her father but stuck around because hey, this place is quiet and interesting, and the owner serves stellar teacakes. Great place to study. To Mary, Eva's kind, though odd, secretive and a little lonely.

I got inspired by Eva's association with the bangle/bracelet of time and the amulets for her fighting style. It's based around item crafting, like an RPG character slapping on every stat boosting item.

She stitches together different outfits for different needs Cardcaptor style. They're all exceedingly dramatic. It's not clear here but I wanted a bird motif to eventually come through. Phoenix motif, really.

Meanwhile the twins are having a terrible time but they have each other, even if they don't remember they're brothers. I think it'd be sweet if they have a bond anyway. Everyone else thinks they're rivals at best.

(Nelo is Mundus' favourite to toy with as the proud, eldest son. But when he gets rough, Bianco butts in and acts up for Mundus' attention. This gets him sent to solitary confinement; Mundus figured out Bianco hates small spaces and designed an iron maiden for him. Others think Bianco is a brute who acts out for a fight. But that's ok. It means Bianco can keep buying Nelo time.) (When lucid, Nelo despises his own weakness when this happens.)

It's really freeing and you can focus on the strokes #you can probably guess which drawings came later #anyway. you ever think about Dante wearing red and black like Eva and Vergil trying to emulate his dad.

In sketch three the van stands. Their main body is designed with the van nose as the torso, to look like a potbelly.

I guarantee I'm not the first with this idea.

Silly ideas in no real order:

The van has the same personality as Nico's shop music. Very chill. Would be cool with friends putting up their feet on their dashboard. Enables Nico a lot.

Each time Nico and the van arrive on scene is equivalent to the van kicking in a door to get through, with Nico pointing and shouting directions on their shoulders.

Nico likes showing off the van in van form a Lot. Stereotypical truck lover and their truck style. Like excessively complimenting your friend while they can't say anything.

Nico and the van would both like to study each other under a microscope. Maybe the van is an ethnographer or biologist. They chat a lot about their different species and cultures.

After a discussion on tattoos, the van makes it so the DMC sign lines up on their 'arm' like a tattoo sleeve. Twinsies : )

To Nero, the van starts off as some guy Nico hangs up on when he walks into the front. Then they shift into the guy who shares the wackiest stories and weirdest questions with the calmness of a radio station announcer. But it's a nice treat when they call on long trips.

After getting run over with the reveal, somehow the first thing that gets through his brain is to apologise for kicking his feet up on the dash.

Meanwhile to the van he's been perpetually Nero, their good friend Nero : ) man they love Nero. Nico picked a good friend.

Those photos of people holding tiny puffy birds is the van @ Nico and Nero (and especially Nero after end of DMCV).

According to Krita this took 7 hours 14 minutes, which is an improvement, or perhaps I've accepted I'm not finishing bigger pieces in 2 hours yet.

I like this guy. He messes up his life a lot and he's very humanly flawed, but he's stubborn and found his family again. I hope he has a midlife crisis in DMC6.

I had fun messing with the mirror effect, chromatic aberration and grain effect. Learned the fifty percent gray overlay grain trick. And I am pleased how the frost turned out, as it was half accidental. A good chunk of the process here was trying out effects I was excited about, so I'm fond of this piece. Also sick of looking at it, so here you go.

Today is the first day of the weeklong strike for a ceasefire in Gaza.

I have realized that I do not think the message has spread far, at least on this website. This might be due to the lack of internet in Gaza, it has been down for days. Not much can be said by the citizens there, it's like some people forgot about them. I encourage all of you to share this post, or make your own, letting everyone know about this strike. This is something that should transcend the aesthetic of your blog. My blog was a gimmick blog, but for this week, it is a blog for spreading information and awareness.

Bisan Odwa (@wizard_bisan1 on instagram) has called for this strike. She is a journalist from Gaza, who has been experiencing this horrid violence for 15 weeks. 107 days. 2568 hours.
