Well, well, well. What have we here?

A new chapter? Don’t mind if I do!

It’s been a while, and I have a ton to do, but I needed a mental health break. So the laptop set me free! I reveled in my mental playground for a few days.

Writing Lotor is always a joy that brings comfort to my soul, not gonna lie. And I needed the sanctuary he provides.

I hope you enjoy this one! Things are just about in place for one of the major canon fix-it’s. It may take me 12 chapters to get there, but it’s as inevitable as an oncoming train! No escape.

Darlings, my beloved darlings, it’s been many days since I’ve been around because life has been showing me her brutal side. Hello my lovelies. Missing you all so much. Writing more in “Lotor’s Gift”when I can find a minute. I even started going back to correct flaws, evaluate sentence structure, and update early chapters. You know. From the ‘before times’.

The reason is 2-fold. 1st reason is I can see just how much I’ve grown as a writer. I swear, I’m not changing plot or anything, just updating clunky sentences and maybe adding a little more detail here and there.

The 2nd reason is because of a lovely comment I recently received. They indicated a possible interest in buying “Lotor’s Gift” if I ever made a print copy. There needs to be a serious edit for spelling errors and extra words that squeaked by our proofreaders. (Joke. It’s just me. I take full responsibility.) It would have to be a multi-book series. I swear, a print copy would be 100 pounds!

Damn. I need things to get normal again. I’ll be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, let’s all take a moment. Breathe deeply. And appreciate the gorgeous creation that is Lotor.

Just a quick note here for all of my dear dear lovelies. I really wish I could say I’ve been writing but life is in serious upheaval right now.

I’m going to have to sell my house and leave. I decided to go to a new town, too. So, I find myself looking for a new job while house hunting, and trying to get mine ready to list. While working full time. And trying to decide what to keep, sell, or trash. And not getting much sleep.

I truly wanted to get a new chapter done because it’s been over a month since the last one. I apologize. I’m sorry. I’m not phishing for sympathy. I am honestly sorry. I love my story and lose myself in the writing process, forgetting about the real world. But unfortunately sometimes I have to remain in the here and now.

I am definitely going to have a room in my new house as a dedicated Lotor sanctuary…I mean…writing and creative studio. The first thing i’m going to do is unpack the laptop and flash drives and write for a week straight. Maybe I’ll get a little sleep, and there’s always time for pizza! But I swear, I’ll be back, the story will continue, and things are about to get interesting.

Hmmm. Fanfic writer appreciation day? How lovely! In 2018 I started writing my first fan fiction ever and it has grown into a mammoth story (still ongoing). I’m writing Chapter 93 and I have no idea how long it’s going to be. I’ll keep writing it as long as I know what words are. It’s honestly one of my favorite feelings when I open the laptop and start typing.

Here’s a sneak peak. Just a tiny one. This is the first sentence of my most recent chapter in progress (apologies for vulgarity, but it is Ezor after all):

“Holy fuck! If we live through this, I’m going to kill him!” Ezor screamed, firing her blaster without stopping to aim.

Thank you, lovely fic writers! You inspire me to keep going and to enjoy the frustrating angst ridden emotional soul searching journey that is creating as your heart is commanding. I read DOTU fics exclusively and I must tip my chapeau to @crystal-rebellion - the High Priestess of Classic Lotor! I read and reread and reread Hades’ Covenant and Legacy. Two other greats are MadelineL’s Broken Wing series and Karavasa’s A Princess of Doom? All extremely guilty pleasures of mine. (Image from princeofdoom.com)

August 21st is Fanfic Writer Appreciation Day  💕

Let’s be honest - we all forget to leave a comment sometimes. We don’t always go out of our way to click the “come talk to me on tumblr” link on AO3 to scream about the fic in the author’s inbox. On August 21st I encourage you to take a moment and show fanfic writers that you appreciate them!

How can you do it?

leave a comment and kudos on every fic you finish reading. Doesn’t matter how short. Doesn’t matter if you’re just repeating what other people have already said. Just be kind! Keysmashing, Caps Lock, and live commenting appreciated! (Bonus points if you leave a comment on every chapter)

ideas for what to put in a comment: one | two | three | four

floaty review box for ao3 (super useful for commenting as you read + it has a ‘review tips’ button if you feel stuck)

reblog ficlets, drabbles, fics, fic rec posts, etc. Put a nice comment in the tags. Remember that likes, while appreciated, don’t give the writer any exposure, meaning the posts don’t reach more people

go to your local fanfic writer’s inbox and talk to them about their fic of your choice. Let them know how long ago you’ve read it and what story point/sentence/scene still makes you smile when you think about it

send thank you messages to fic writers. In a world where you have to pay for almost everything, they’re supplying you with countless hours of free entertainment. It can get quite lonely without getting messages acknowledging the hours they spend writing stories - let them know their time and effort is appreciated

make fic rec posts and @ the authors whose fics you’re recommending! (believe me, fic writers love to see their stories in these posts)

create something inspired by a fic! You can draw fanart, make a moodboard or aesthetic post, or even write a song for the fic you love. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro doesn’t matter - the thought alone is what counts more than anything <3

buy the writer a coffee if they have a ko-fi page and you have some change lying around c: Caffeine keeps most fic writers awake when they struggle with a particularly slow draft or a difficult scene. More coffee, more content.
