Lighting the Fuse 1/?

In late 2019, in the middle of planning more of Hana’s series, an idea hit. One that seemed like it’d be a lot of fun to try while also throwing an even bigger wrench into John’s operations in Holland Valley: an attempt to corner and capture him personally.

But the more time I had to think about it all, the more it seemed like a one-shot wouldn’t cut it, so here we are, and seeing as this event helps to kick off quite a few others down the line for her, it’s wonderful to be able to reach it and finally introduce the Trap fic to you all! I hope you all enjoy, and any potential warnings will be added as future chapters are posted. 

(also pardon any typos, there’ll be another giant hunt for them later on, I can just feel it in my bones)

When events are put into motion giving her a shot at an impossible task - capturing John Seed - the deputy jumps at the chance.

There’s only one problem.

She’s not the only one dying to get him, and keeping him alive when even his own people seem to want him dead isn’t looking to be an easy feat either.

The plan was straightforward. Fall’s End needed fuel. Some form of it to keep them going, and every couple of weeks or so a tanker would come over from the Henbane.

With control of the roads swinging in their direction on both sides of the region’s border, it was easier for them to track movements of supplies, fuel included, and the night before she’d received an important message. Not just one, but two of those very tankers were going to be headed out their way, making a direct delivery to the top of Black Horse Peak - where John had placed his ‘gate’ - in about a day or so’s time.

So if someone were to say, intercept them, that could mean a lot of things. Like a blow to the cult’s resources, a chance to get Golden Valley Gas up and running, and a guaranteed way of pissing John off - which was a full-time job that she was rather passionate about.

So, they got two teams together. Tracked the tankers with plans to split them up along the way, and planned on making the most of the small window they had available.
