Synthia Forrester, clone of Pearl in MST3K: The Return. This is one of my artist trading cards for RR Parks' MST3K Series 2. These are each randomly inserted into a pack of trading cards, so you have a chance to find a little piece of my original art in the wild!

Gift art from the Halloween MST3K Live show--This one was sent home with Joel.
Because this show and its characters are Joel’s creation, he’s more or less Space Dad (or “Papa Bear” as Jonah referred to him during the 30th Anniversary shows--”Who are they gonna root for? Papa Bear or....Not Mike?”).  I just felt like something sweet was necessary with his original robot brood, plus one of the most important things from MST history that I feel like we should all carry with us--That cross stitch in the back says “The right people will understand” and it’s so true.
Sketched in pencil, inked with Pigma Micron pens, colored with Copic, Spectrum Noir, and Artist’s Loft markers on Bristol board, cut to a hex that’s about 7 inches across at each of the widest points.
Yeah, I didn’t make framing easy this time. Sorry, guys. >_<

Gift art from the Halloween MST3K Live show--This one was sent home with Rebecca and Tim.
Rebecca is Synthia, as well as the voice of Gypsy on the show (and I hate that I did not think to include Gypsy till it was too late, sorry!!! :( ), while Tim is Bonehead #1 (Terry), and the voice of Summer Servo on the live tours.  Together, they have an adorable Black Lab named Trond, so I had to draw him as the Bonehund.

Gift art from the Halloween MST3K Live show--This one was sent home with Grant.
Grant is the main puppeteer on the show, as well as M. Waverly, and he was Crow T. Robot on the 30th anniversary tour.  During the Watch Out For Snakes tour, he played the part of Bonehead #1 (Terry).  I tried my best to reference all of this, as well as one of his own characters, Toiley T. Paper. (I adore Toiley.)

Gift art from the Halloween MST3K Live show--This one was sent home with Jonah and Deanna. Thank goodness I think we should be out of spoiler territory by now.
Deanna is Dr. Donna St. Phibes, B-movie monster conservationist. She cares for them on her own ship, the Ark-3 (funded by a generous grant from Totino’s Pizza Rolls: COUCH HARD), and they even have their own environments in which they are allowed to thrive. (There’s Tropical, Arctic, Desert-y, Danish and Black & White.)  We first learned about her during the tour, and of course, I think she’s fantastic.
Because Jonah’s mentioned one of his favorite MST moments is “Trumpy, you can do stupid things!”, I couldn’t help putting him in a position to meet that weird little beastie.

A little over a week after my Atlanta trip, the MST3K Live tour came to my stomping grounds in Nashville! We only had one show this time, but I still managed an art drop.  Since the show was on Halloween, I brought back Pumpkin Spice Servo for a very limited time. ;)
This one was especially fun because 1) Pumpkin Spice Servo, 2) selfie!, and 3) it’s the first piece of art I’ve done of cartoon Jonah where you can see the color of his eyes.
Sketched in pencil, inked with Pigma Micron pens, colored with Copic, Artist’s Loft, and Spectrum Noir markers, plus a little gel pen, on 5x7 Bristol board.  It went to a good home, like all the others, and I’m forever thankful.

I did a second art drop for the MST3K Live double feature in Atlanta, this time with a parody upon a parody. Sure, you’ll recognize the reference to The Breakfast Club, but did you know that was gleefully parodied by Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2? They had dueling billboards in Hollywood way back when. Genius.
When I posted this on Instagram, you’ll never guess who got the right answer first, almost immediately. ;)
(More colored pencil work on Bristol.)

While I was trying new things, my trip to Atlanta to see the double feature of the 30th Anniversary MST3K Live shows happened! So I made an art drop.  Maybe not the greatest thing I’ve done, but I sure gave it a good try.  It really did go to a good home!
All done in Prismacolor colored pencils on Bristol board, 5x7 size.

Another bit of experimental fun.  This time, inked with Kuretaki Bimoji brush pens and colored with Copics on Bristol board. Trading card sized.
Keep on trying!

I’ve been trying to improve my skills somewhat, so here is one of my first experiments in doing so.  It’s a start, but you wouldn’t believe how far out of my comfort zone I am with this.
