Lots of 3D and animation work this past year between all my different game projects.
I have a TON of new stuff planned for 2023, so not slowing down anytime soon 💿🎮

When you have a kitty cat and never share pictures or videos of that kitty cat that's a crime. There is no ethical hoarding of kitty cat under capitalism. Share the love.

really love the art of all the games you post! Do you have any indie horror games you'd reccommend?
I'm going to go ahead and recommend the entire Haunted PS1 Collection
Not because I'm biased, but because there are genuinely some amazing indie horror gems that appeared on each collection.
I don't want to go on for too long here but here are a couple games from the collections I'd recommend:
An Outcry, Apolysis, Heartworm, Gob, The Drowning Machine, DEAD LETTER DEPT. All very good short horror games that I can't recommend more. I could go on singing the praises of my friends and peers.
Occult Case Files is also very good, reminding me of like, sweet home on the NES.
Our Lady of Sorrow is also very good if you're into found footage stuff!
SPOOKWARE is more lighthearted and silly horror fun. The demo version did actually make me jump and at a silly jumpscare so... take that as you will.
It's late and I'm very tired, so I'm probably missing out on a lot but that's just what I can list off the top of my head.

Today was pretty rough for me due to some family stuff so I spent a lot of time doing 3D modeling and material work in Blender since it's an activity I can kind of just turn off my brain and flow with. Tired, but I'm relatively happy with how this looks. I'm going to try recreating the full intro to DHMIS in the game, although I really gotta work on S.P.A.M and They Will Overrun for a bit so I don't fall behind. More on those this weekend!

HE SPEAKS!
Oh and I guess I also did some neat stuff with raycasts and distances to determine which camera the game should use, and some work with animation controllers so Red Guy isn't moon walking all the time. But that's honestly way less cool than my precious boy Colin doing a jig and talking.
With a lot of stuff done on this, I'm gonna put this project on hold for a day or two. Don't wanna neglect the other stuff I got in the pipeline. So tomorrow and Saturday, look forward to some more Rimworld-Like content with Space Pirate Action Manager and my weird first person survival game I fear every day will be compared to FNAF.
Oh, and since Twitter is imploding as we speak, feel free to check out my Linktree to see other places where I threaten to actively post stuff.

I remember John Wolfe playing through this game ages ago during a "3 Random Horror Games" episode. It's... wild.

And how it looks in the final game. The android has fully adjustable limbs, hands, and head. Also, it will talk (sing?) sometimes.

FIRST POST!
Hi! We are 靄 Moya Horror, an international game dev group making a game about the year 2000 in rural Finland. Studio head Amos Sorri lives in Japan and that might be bit of an influence on things we do. We also do a bunch of weird cool projects with HauntedPS1 community. New to TUMBLR no clue how to drive this thing, but we’ll get there.

Digital Styles!
Been kind of a weird day in terms of productivity. And that's entirely because I got completely sucked into modeling and tweaking Colin the Computer. Because a DHMIS game literally set inside a computer just wouldn't feel right without the lad hanging around.
Tumblr media
Besides that, I got some more minor work done on They Will Overrun and S.P.A.M. Not much, due to Colin's interference, but some, which is important when it comes to seeing projects through. Even a little progress helps to keep me going. Stay tuned for more progress to come!

Life Finds A Way
Red Guy, Absolutely Moving
At last! My weird fan modeling project has made the leap to some kind of interactive movement simulator that looks a bit crusty! O frabjous day!
But the journey never ends. So here's another of these apparently daily logs documenting stuff I'm working on. Besides the above, I also got a lil gif of Red Guy dancing his heart out.
Tumblr media
Now what I've done to justify what you see above is tell myself that I did this in order to check whether the skin weighting was good enough. Otherwise, there can be clipping issues and general ugliness down the road.
Again, not really much to physically show off for They Will Overrun, but I got a ton of conceptual progress done on SPAM, like generating some dynamic floor tiles and adding full planar movement to the camera that I definitely can show off.
Tumblr media
Those planes of tiles will essentially act essentially as the tiles do in Rimworld, although obviously with multiple levels instead of taking place on a flat surface. Once the blocks of tiles are more functional (I.E. when they actually fit the ship and have walls around them), i'll work on making it so you can see the inside of the ship with some kind of transparency effect instead of having to turn the whole model off.

Here he is! PS1 Yellow Guy. Honestly, he was a way bigger pain than both Duck and Red Guy due to YG's stringy hair. Originally, I had no clue how I was gonna get that looking even close to accurate, but by slapping on some planes, I think it turned out pretty good.
Tumblr media
On top of that, I also got some more stuff done for They Will Overrun and my Space Pirate game i'm tentatively calling SPAM (Space Pirate Adventure Manager). While the They Will Overrun stuff is mostly just minor refactoring since my code looks just awful, I can show something pretty neat from SPAM.
The idea here is essentially that the game plays like a 3DOF tactical space game like Nexus: The Jupiter Incident or Homeworld, but at any time you can hit a button to see the interior of your ship and check your crew like a management game, ala Rimworld. Next on the plate is figuring out just how in the hell I'm gonna simulate the inside of a spaceship.

Hello, I'm Shane (any/all) and I'm a gamedev making lonely virtual worlds and electronic music. I'm looking forward to getting back into things after a slow 2022 and working on a number of projects I have on my backlog. You can find my work and links to other things on my [Itch page].

Now that the project has a menu, I'm like 2/3 of the way towards having an actual game on my hands. Once I plop in the levels / failure states I'll be golden. 👍
Once this is done, which I'm hoping will be in the next week or so, I'll start on prototyping two different projects:
1. DHMIS Point-And-Click / Resident Evil
Tumblr media
Weird combo, but hear me out. The way I see it, at least in 3D, Point-And-Click adventure games have the same point of view as fixed camera survival horror like Reaident Evil. So, for a horror point-and-click game, I think it would be fun to play around with that and switch between the two during gameplay. I'll see how it actually plays once the prototyping starts.
2. Space Pirate Simulator
Tumblr media
Admittedly, this is a bit more of a pipe dream than #1. But sci-fi is my absolute favorite genre, and ever time I play a sci-fi game, my favorite playstyle is that of a pirate! ☠️
The concept for this one is essentially a mix of Rimworld and Homeworld set in a semi-persistent solar system. The movement of the ship would happen in a 3D interface ala Homeworld, while the crew of your ships would happen in an isometric / top down view ala Rimworld. The idea is essentially to make you really feel like a scrappy pirate operating on the fringes with a ragtag group of scoundrels with their own unique personalities and relationships.
(And yes I'm taking massive inspiration from The Expanse's Camina Drummer and Klaes Ashford. Great show, watch it if you haven't)
Tumblr media
And that's that. More updates hopefully later. I wanna keep doing updates both for promotion and to kind of keep me on track so I don't get distracted or lose interest half way through the project. Fingers crossed. 🤞
