Love that RWBY Volume 7 said you can take your ruthless "pragmatism" and shove it up your ass. Little makes me think of the first part of an Emily Dickinson poem:

Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all.

Hope is always with us, even if we cannot hear the tune without the words. It does not stop, even when we cannot hear.

While Ruby might be feeling hopeless, that is not to say there is not hope. She does not see it now, but maybe Little will serve as her guide back to hope.

Little has been symbolic of hope all volume - so Neo crushing Little being what pushes Ruby over the edge makes sense

but Little isn’t going to die, they’re going to ascend thanks to the Tree and be reborn
